  1. After PHNL my goal is to model Kauai for VFR flying - in my opinion the most beautiful island in the world.
  2. Finally took some leisure flying time, did a short hop between CYVR and KSEA, both of which have decent scenery on my machine. 747 in Canadian Airlines livery from the 1980's. I hate doing Seattle approach in the dark. Too many damned lights. I love it up here in Canada. Looking for an airport? Just go for something with lights, there'll probably be an airport, since we don't really have bright cities...
  3. Here are some of the pictures I took while flying around the very much incomplete PHNL today after finally getting X-Plane 10 to work... only 4 hours of messing with files and plugins before it would get past the loading screen. Finally I'm happy. I hope you guys are too. EDIT: Please check for a more recent post with the images originally found in this post.
  4. John... (as in MAXX)... I trust that you somehow made it work, and from those screenshots, holy HELL did it work. Amazingly. But I just tried the SkyMAXX Extreme Skies and the clouds turned into giant blurbs (the onlys painted directly onto the skycolors). Is there something I'm missing? (Sorry about the gamma being pumped way down in the picture I just do that for effect but I hope you'll see the problem). Other than that the sky colors are, as always, amazing.
  5. Ok I have a new problem... how do you use the XPFW 757 Plugin in X-Plane 10? It's too old - is there a version of this that will allow the engines to not have their thrust reversers permanently deployed?

    Q400 problems.

Ok so I decided I would finally fly the Q400 since I did get it for Christmas... but I can't get rid of this stupid thing. Any suggestions? It literally will not go away... I can't click on any of the seats. A passenger appears briefly in the spot then disappears, same with the fuel. What's up with this and how can I solve it? Yes, I've already Googled it. Any help will be well appreciated... also the menus on the 727 don't work. I can't click on any of the menus (the actual components of the aircraft are just wonderful but not the menus). Cheers and thanks ahead of time. EDIT: I also just noticed that the displays are totally messed up with tons of random junk on them rendering them impossible to read. Suggestions?
  7. I know everyone on here does not share my love for making things look artsy-fartsy... and strangely I DO even though I always hated FSX and Flight.
  8. RESOLVED: I had to open them in Plane Maker 9, update to v9 airfoils, then open them in V10 Planemaker and update yet again to the latest airfoils. Please don't tell me it's because they are corrupt from retrieving them from a corrupt hard drive. These ones were the only things backed up on the network. XPFW 757s 717s 707 and many more XP9 aircraft are working just find in X-Plane 9 and won't work in X-Plane 10. Any suggestions?
  9. So I was just flying the alpha jet A around near Seattle and I popped in at Vancouver... what did I find... EXCUSE CIRCULAR TRAIN BRIDGE that is floating midair and is a loop, wtf are you doing?
  10. Using a SeaGate utility I got back most of my stuff, I'm actually still in the process of testing all my XP resources determining what planes I have to download again and which sceneries need to be replaced and stuff. I got all my important stuff though... this has actually given me an opportunity to organized my X-Plane folders.
  11. I am proud to announce that I will be restarting the PHNL Project today, I have a fresh XP10 installed - looking forward to this, very much.
  12. Alright - this one has a backstory So today we're sitting in English class and it's getting boring - so my pal Jake (the pilot) whips out an Air Canada union magazine. Needless to say it was weird reading patriotic business stuff, but this was the best comic ever: I think it should say "X-Plane.org" forms not "pilot" forums.
  13. The communists actually had a secret weapon that was hitherto unknown. They could control the weight of the planet from a civilian airliner. Special, huh?
  14. Perhaps some sort of barometric instrument? Actually, the "expert" settings in X-Plane where you could set the constants for earth (such as planetary mass), but in real life... the Soviets were way ahead of their time. From the number of digits, possibly altimeter of some sort which measures the pressure of the atmosphere on mars and divides it by the weight of the earth and blows up seagulls to eat pudding or something... that's as far as I got.
  15. 5 Days until I start development again.
  16. I have successfully recovered all the files that are truly vital (except for about 20 video files that I think were just too big to be recoverable, about 2GB each). I reinstalled X-Plane today and took this screenshot. Development has not recommenced, but I made sure the scenery was still intact. Looks like it is.
  17. All files lost in my recent data disaster were recovered, on February 1st, I will recommence development on PHNL.

  18. I am proud to announce that on Wednesday, January 30th, development of PHNL by the Pacific Nothwest Scenery Project will recommence as 90% of the data required for the development of the airport was recovered after a near fatal loss of data this weekend. Colin Stepney
  19. I'll be honest about recuva: I have never been impressed with it. I used to be in film class, and whenever other dolts wiped your memory card, you would have to get the stuff back, and the only one I knew of what recuva. It drove me insane, I never got back my files. I'll check out Hiren's CD, though, although I noticed that it has recuva on it. Are there any other recovery programs onboard? EDIT: Actually, I thought I'd let you know this: I used recuva, it recognized the drive as... empty. I purchased a $99.00 from SeaGate (coincidentally my drive is seagate) and so far, although it's taken over 8 hours, it has found over 10000 of my 10000+ pictures, and tons of other files... Recuva gave me a blank page.
  20. Well I was so lucky... of the entire airport, there were only two airplanes on actual active areas... one on the runway (and thankfully not on the markings) and one on a little taxiway. And barely any at gates.
  21. Thanks James! I've already started a recovery of the files, but it's going to take quite a while with the size of this drive. It was a quick format, the kind I use for my memory cards on my camera to rid them of stuff. And about being crushed by a press - yeah, I have a friend who kind of crushed his hard drive under a car wheel and he got 100% of his data back. Thanks for the suggestion What are these programs?
  22. I'm going out tomorrow to buy two new 1TB drives for exactly that purpose, recommended to me by a friend who's in computer security (like REALLY HIGH UP). He keeps one in a safety deposit box.
  23. The PHNL project has once again been shut down. Please check back on February 15th for an update of the possiblity of revival. Apologees, Colin Stepney
  24. Thanks Peter - I'll PM you to make arrangements.
  25. I'll try that out... as soon as I have a hard drive that X-Plane can run on. Thanks
