  1. Is there a good tutorial for X-Plane somewhere outlining the basics of making custom 3D building facades? Or facades in general?
  2. My problem at this point is that I pursue everything - At university, I procrastinate by finding something else to research at the library. I'll check that out though. Thanks!
  3. Have you ever woken up in the winter to snow, and been amazed by how bright it is? Me too. But I wish X-Plane could not be black as coal as soon as the sun sets. In reality, the moon and stars throw a LOT of light, and when you're flying at night over the snow-covered prairies (I have) they look spooky and illuminated. Is there any way to control the light levels at night? This screenshot was taken with gamma pumped up RIGHT after sunset. I wish it could always look like that at night, especially around cities, considering the amount of light that light pollution contributes to ambient light.
  4. Mostly its the 16GB of RAM and the GTX780 that help... and the quad-core i5 at 3.4GHz. I need an SSD for film editing soon, though. And by maxed out I mean with nothing custom (although so far this hasn't hurt frames much)
  5. My girlfriend recently gave me a present that she thought I would think "was silly and an old people thing." Bah. I open it, and it's an envelope overflowing with aviation stamps from around the globe (primarily, actually, from former members of the Soviet Union and other communist states). Wow. However, upon going through them all, I found one real winner... It's an Li-2 of Air Koryo from 1974. I'll post some more of them soon because some are pretty cool (four with Concorde on them, lots of stamps regarding the founders of aviation in their respective countries). I just don't really have time right now but this one blew me out of the water... wow!
  6. I finally got my new machine, and it can purr with X-Plane almost maxed out. KBLI 4.0 is in the works, should be done soon. A little taste of what it look like so far (I'll be completely remaking that terminal, it looks awful): Still definitely a work in progress.
  7. New computer has arrived - Lanai Photoreal is in development.

  8. I am impressed... I haven't seen vista in ages! That's pretty cool. Maybe I'll pick up this bird sometime
  9. I'm looking forward to flying in this on my new rig that's arriving in about a week! Keep up the outstanding work... you're amazing.
  10. Absolutely agreed with AF380. These threads have a high entertainment value, and don't let the idiots bog you down Michael. Keep up the great work!
  11. I'm sure it's in the works but honestly I think this plane is pretty amazing
  12. Here I will outline my adventure of building a new PC... with great frustration. This is sort of an ongoing thing, so yes, there will be more posts (and hopefully videos and screenshots soon). Here we go: TIMELINE May 2014 - I decide it's time for a new computer. Looking around online, I decide that buying locally would be the best choice for warranty claims and support. June 6th, 2014 - I visit my local shop, NCIX, and ask for a quote. He says to email him and he'll get back. I send him the specifications I want, he recommends changes, sends a quote. June 26th, 2014 - At this point, I am working nearly full time at a location with no power or internet so I ask for a final quote with minor changes that that I will be interested in purchasing a computer at the end of August. July 15th, 2014 - During a visit home, I email NCIX August 29th, 2014 - Still no answer September 20th, 2014 - Still no answer from NCIX to a guy who wants to buy a $1600 machine. I approach my friend who is a trained computer tech to give me recommendations for specs. He sets me up with a list. I walk into chemistry lecture the next morning and shower him with the money I owe him in thanks. October 3rd, 2014 - I order the computer. Now I am waiting... Here is what I'm waiting for: Intel i5 3.4GHz Quad NVidia GTX 780 3GB 16GB RAM 1TB 7200RPM HDD Motherboard gobbledegook that I don't understand because I don't care (I really should, though) I also bought a $5 keyboard that I have now fallen in love with from Value Village and I'm stealing 2 old monitors from my father's dental practice. Just wondering is anyone else out there has a similar setup who could share some pictures/videos/stories about what to expect in the way of capabilities. Stay tuned for screenshots in a few weeks (order time is long because the nearest NCIX is 340km from my house).
  13. Trust me, being in university it is my number one source of procrastination. Thanks for the clarification, too! Cheers and you are amazing. Free cookies if I ever bump into you on the street.
  14. Are you saying that if we think something should be added we should head to OSM RIGHT NOW and do that? Thanks for all your work
  15. You're comparing a movie where they flew a mid-size passenger jet inverted in a climb and crashed at high speed and people survived and the pilot was on drugs and... To real life?
  16. I was merely requesting a clarification rather than an attack, Ben. Thanks Mario for the explanation, I do appreciate it.
  17. So excited to buy a new computer and skymaxx... the intricacy of this review really pinpointed all the specific concerns I had over buying SkyMaxx
  18. And I thought economy aviation was bad for the environment We have airlines like these in Canada, only they fly Beavers and Cubs.... and the seats aren't very comfy. But the lower seating numbers, yup, like that.
  19. I don't want to just get a bunch of more spam negative ratings but I want to know why this isn't in the rant section.
  20. New computer order within the week.

  21. My point is that we should be pretty happy with what we have, I think. And yes, this does belong in the rant section. Cameron, maybe you should move this.
  22. Shouldn't this be in the rant section? And while I agree that yes, that's not ultra high definition, uh... look at the textures on the planes we had back in V9. That says it all.
  23. Ok guys time to get excited because this is turning out better than I expected
  24. I have to say usually OrbX usually impresses me over X-Plane by a long shot but this is definitely one case where we can see X-Plane's true potential and ability.
  25. Probably won't be updating anything in KBLI tomorrow, way more work assigned today that forecasted and midterms approaching. Screenshot... on Sunday? Maybe tomorrow.
