Here I will outline my adventure of building a new PC... with great frustration. This is sort of an ongoing thing, so yes, there will be more posts (and hopefully videos and screenshots soon). Here we go: TIMELINE May 2014 - I decide it's time for a new computer. Looking around online, I decide that buying locally would be the best choice for warranty claims and support. June 6th, 2014 - I visit my local shop, NCIX, and ask for a quote. He says to email him and he'll get back. I send him the specifications I want, he recommends changes, sends a quote. June 26th, 2014 - At this point, I am working nearly full time at a location with no power or internet so I ask for a final quote with minor changes that that I will be interested in purchasing a computer at the end of August. July 15th, 2014 - During a visit home, I email NCIX August 29th, 2014 - Still no answer September 20th, 2014 - Still no answer from NCIX to a guy who wants to buy a $1600 machine. I approach my friend who is a trained computer tech to give me recommendations for specs. He sets me up with a list. I walk into chemistry lecture the next morning and shower him with the money I owe him in thanks. October 3rd, 2014 - I order the computer. Now I am waiting... Here is what I'm waiting for: Intel i5 3.4GHz Quad NVidia GTX 780 3GB 16GB RAM 1TB 7200RPM HDD Motherboard gobbledegook that I don't understand because I don't care (I really should, though) I also bought a $5 keyboard that I have now fallen in love with from Value Village and I'm stealing 2 old monitors from my father's dental practice. Just wondering is anyone else out there has a similar setup who could share some pictures/videos/stories about what to expect in the way of capabilities. Stay tuned for screenshots in a few weeks (order time is long because the nearest NCIX is 340km from my house).
