I'm using WED 1.0. The ortho photo was added as a draped polygon in Overlay Editor. This scenery will be payware. Been spending too many hours to justify it as freeware. I doubt people actually would use a donate button.. I checked with the Nearmap.com website. Doesn't look promising in regards of getting ortho photos of Spain from there.

Sometimes when I want to adjust, for instance the heading bug, I need to click and drag in the opposite direction. Other times it works as expected. And a few times It's actually needed vertical input to function at all. Anyone else experience this?

I got the demo of their ortho photo system today. To my disappointment, it's identical to what they use on Bing Maps. So I guess Bing has bought royalties or something... I think the images are too grainy and just not worth the price, whatever it is..

The one I made is based on Google Earth as a test, to see if I could pull it off. It certainly helps on the impression! However, the original resolution is not ideal, and as Kaphias states, it's against Googles terms of use. I've initiated contact with another service that will bring me better tools for measurement and image quality - thus adds the possibility to make ground textures in very high quality. I'm not sure about the pricing for this yet - things are going a bit slow on their end... Worst case scenario: I use GE as a reference and hand paint textures according to the image.

Thanks, Iannik! Unfortunately, no. I've been busy working with things I know will pay the bills through the weekend, and have loads more coming this week. Time will show.

Sure looks like a busy airport! You should be able to add night textures to a .pol by adding "_LIT <filename>". Haven't tried it myself though. Will try this on the Alicante scenery when I get there.

The only reason I bought a PS3 was so my girlfriend and I could game together. She's already been playing Little Big Planet for a year, so I got it too. And now we have Tekken to beat the crap out of each other instead of taking it to the physical level... ;D And after seeing , I'm looking forward to the future of God games. As for existing games I play now in-between X-Plane scenery development and work, you'll find titles like Tropico 3, Locomotion, Settlers 7, GTA IV and first person shooters like Battlefield Bad Company 2 and CoD:Modern Warfare 2.

First in-sim snapshots. What do you think? I'm surprised it worked out so well with so little effort. I'll probably paint in some roads leading to the different areas though. And a parking lot.. Next: building some fences, I think.

I don't like the ground textures around the airfield. Nor is the default textures oriented in the correct direction, as you can see in the screenshots throughout the thread. I haven't been able to find satellite photos of this area, only Google Earth can give me an idea of how it should be. So I took the liberty of painting a little over a large GE image I made. The black frame shows 2048^2.. Probably not good enough if quality from low altitude is the goal.. Will check it as soon as I have WED and Overlay Editor installed on my Mac.

Have you ever tried this ? VATSIM flying
OlaHaldor replied to arb65912's topic in General Discussion
Well, that's the thing about flying a virtual plane. You can't just reach out and adjust a setting with a knob.. You need to either bind keys or use the mouse. Imho, this is too slow. So yes, it might take a minute before I do what I would've been told.. :-\ Even though I know the plane I'm flying, I don't feel comfortable with it virtually compared to the real deal where I have a wider FOV and can just reach out, adjust and deal with it. Wish the Saitek panels would all just work with X-Plane. (: -

I don't dare to go online when it's so serious. I remember when I started with MS FlightSim 2004, I went to a Norwegian forum, got in touch with some guys who wanted to go online and we all had a blast flying (properly!) from point to point, airport to airport, while chatting or talking through Skype or so. *Sigh* I might be too much of a chicken for it. -
Of course. Setting sloped runways OFF made all the difference. Thanks. Now it's time for some Alicante <-> Muchamiel multiplayer flying.

I've installed X-Plane on my Mac Pro and PC, both running the latest update. Connectiong the together was done in no time. However, while taxiing to, away from and on the runway for instance, they altitude of the actual plane on the PC didn't match what I saw as a pilot in the plane from the Mac and vice versa. The plane was either going way below or above the ground. While flying I couldn't determine whether the altitude was correct. I can't fly on both machines at the same time. Is it like that online too? Or was it something I've done wrong? All I did was enter the IP addresses and I instantly got a message that something was going on.

Well, thanks.. Hehe, I don't feel like the "god of x-plane scenery" even though I have a passion and a dream.... ;D This is as it stands right now. I lack to add the following Add a couple of structures near the new hangar on the opposite sides of the Inaer hangars Add a container which holds a flight simulator, near the restaurant Fence around here and there Loads of wooden boxes to go near one of the hangars Metal triangles painted red/white Trees, if I can figure out a way to do it nice A yellow "follow me" car parked as a monument near the club house I'd like to make some better ground textures, but I have yet to find anything that is better than the satellite reference I used for rough measurements.
-
Nothing much going on. Just modeled a new hangar, and baked textures to two hangars. I'll have to do some cleanup though. Things are going slow, but there IS progress.
-
When and where is the update available ?
-
Yup. Frame counter is moving both on record and playback. I don't fly on VATSIM or any similar.
-
I must be doing something wrong. I recorded two fligts. when I tried to play either one, there's no planes appearing. I can see the frame count do its thing, but no planes are visible.
-
You just go on and on, don't you? I admire your passion, Goran.
-
Hahaha! Well, thanks!
-
I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with that term. GREASER ?
-
Oh nice!! I'll try it asap.

It's FRAPS. The app I record my videos with.

You... You mindreader, you.. : I got the "carb icing" warning, but I couldn't spot any switches or buttons to solve my problem. I guess there's a manual for a reason, but you know - men.. They really don't read manuals unless they have to. Will check tomorrow. It's been sleepy time for over 4 hours now and I have not yet met Mr. Sandman. Doh!

It's becoming kind of a ritual now. I fly between my two airports I'm developing. It's a nice 10-15 minutes flight with a pretty straight forward flight path. After taking the Duchess for a spin around Muchamiel I went to bring the plane to Alicante. That was a no go... I was a few miles away from landing, when both engines suddenly died. I couldn't get them going again. I watched the replay, and as far as I can tell, there was nothing wrong with any instruments. Power, oil and fuel, no problem. Goran, care to give me a killer hint what I'm doing wrong ?
