Alright heres what and where we were flying, Q400 over the Zurich area with OSM buildings. HDR 2x. I have objects set to 'A lot' and roads to 'Tons'.. no cars. Cloud detail 50%, draw distance 100%, no god rays. med textures. You said 3000 in your post so were low.. hope you didnt mean 30 000 aha Edit: FYI I switched to the True Blue colour set for these pics. 10 000 feet A little bit of weather! Right through a cloud No problems on approach.. except my heading lol

Alright, Ive got some good VC shots from the Q400 over Zurich. Give me some time to upload them. Any cities you'd like to see? Anything but Paris... its too big and all the OSM buildings are a killer. Edit: Would you want to see the Jetstream? its the most taxing VC i have

Oh hey thanks, Ive been looking for an official support forum
-
Like a big airliner? Ill see what I can do? In hindsight I might have gone for a better card or the overclocked CPU.. but they are much more expensive.
-
Glad you like the shots! Not sure if I have said this yet.. but all the shots so far have been using the Tropical Paradise colour set. Umm, mostly overlay settings. Ive still been experimenting.. I cant tell how much of an FPS hit the shadows take. Its mostly OSM buildings and flying very close to big clouds that sucks frames(which is weird, why is drawing a blank grey texture so taxing?). Trying to find a balance that works in good and bad weather has been my goal. I still cant decide if using Extreme textures is bad or not.. I have a 4gb card so I have plenty of VRAM left over..but would my card be working harder to smooth those higher reso textures? Edit: Anything you guys would like to me to try and get some shots of? Bad weather? Certain planes or airports? Right now Im just doin random altitudes, time and weather lookin for those sweet shots.

Little bit of GA love.. the beautiful Carenado C90B skimming the clouds over beautiful Lausanne, Switzerland! The depth the clouds add for VFR flying is great, better feeling of altitude.

Thx lol, but its YOU who made this thing dude!

Nice to Lugano in the ATR

Hey guys, before I post any pictures Ill post my comp specs and my SMP settings. My hope with this thread is to show you how amazing SMP can look and to help tweak your settings so its run well on your comp. My current setup is an i5 4670, MSI GTX 760 4gb, 8gb ram and I use a 1080p 144hz monitor. Xplane 10.25 64 bit on Windows 7. For Xplane settings I use Very High textures, HDR with 4x (2x when SMP gets heavy), draw distance Very High. I use OSM which uses a bunch of FPS.. but no HD mesh or orthophotos. This is my standard setup which gives me solid FPS in most situations. Since SMP is new I am still tweaking all the time. For SMP settings the only things I recommend are Cirrus reso med/high, and Overcast on med. God Rays usually off. Tweak the rest to your visual liking. Also experiment with the different cirrus textures.. I found using Real Weather settings is really brutal if there is a lot of overcast. Ive been using Random weather and then tweaking like adding a nice cirrus layer. Turning off HDR is the only thing that makes this gross overcast look slight better, but I still get massive FPS drops. I just avoid flying in this type of weather. If you want to do IFR and fly with no vis, might as well just disable SMP for that flight. This was my first flight with SMP and what got me so excited about it. Many more pictures to come I promise

Non-HDR HDR

Heres a montage of sunrise over Zurich, no weather. HDR with 2x and Tropical Paradise skycolours. click to enlarge

Please looks at the pics in the link JohnMaxx posted post #5. I hate to toot my own horn but I think those are some of the best SkyMaxx atmosphere shots... Try the Tropical Sky colour pack, to me it gives the most realistic looking colours in any location. Ive noticed HDR doesnt affect the clouds as much as it does the ground textures and terrain.

Hmm, seems interesting. I might give it a try. Its the one thing I like about P3D/FSX... I like the head movement in those sims. The Eurocopter AS350 for Xplane also has some really great vertical and horizontal tracking.. a must for heli flight.
-
No worries man! Thanks for your concern anyways.. Its not such a big deal while flying.. minor inconvenience. Still a bit confusing.
-
I know hey! I think I was on 4xFSAA because there arent too many building or roads on the flight route. Those are the best shots ive been able to take so far. I love that layer above 30 000 with the haze and blurry distance Edit: All props to Mr Maxx and staff for the amazing addon

Culiacan to Manzanillo at 33 000 with the 727. SkyMaxx is really impressive when you get it tweaked right. Hey AtomicFrog what shadow and Aliasing settings do you use? Those exterior shots of the C90 are really slick

Im on 10.25 64 bit Windows 7

Thanks for your posts. Heres a better example of my problem. Where the red #1 is at the top left.. VOR APP in white never appears for me. HDG SEL shows up fine. Anyone with the Q400 who has any ideas please post them it would be much appreciated!
-
Yea, Im able to successfully change the nav source to the vor and track radials fine. I just cant tell when im engaged in Vor loc mode. The VOR information always show up in the bottom right in blue when youre in range of it. Yet above the artificial horizon, where notifications like HDG SEL, ALT, and VS +800 etc are in green.. there is never anything for NAV. I can obviously tell when the AP is locked to the VOR when my plane rolls by itself, but sometimes when im already close to the correct heading its hard to tell. There may be no change in heading when I hit the NAV button on the VOR panel. I wont notice im not locked in until the lines on the HSI start going out of sync.

Unbelievable addon! The level of immersion it adds is very impressive. Its not just the clouds, the whole sky and atmosphere is improved. It looks so much better! Thank you Mr Maxx, a real work of art

Hi I recently purchased the Q400 and am love learning to fly this plane. I am having a small problem.. when I am tracking a vor, I cant see any NAV or Nav loc indicator on the digital display. I can see VOR 1 and the freq and DME info, everything tracks fine. When Im in heading mode it says 'HDG SEL' in green and I can see my VS and ALT fine.. just no NAV. Is there somewhere else I should look? Thanks!

You could try OSM data from SimHeaven. It gives a better representation of the road and building layouts.. the buildings are still ugly for the most part. It is an improvement though. http://simheaven.com/?page_id=5
