    Project 3

Sure I understand. I'm also hardcore MacPro/MacBookPro/iPad/iPhone power user. I've just needed big 5 vertical monitor TrackIR capable X-Plane system which is of course not available on the Mac platform : / It costs me a lot more than my MacPro but it works like a charm. Yes I'm closing my eyes after powerup (to hide Win7 screens) and opening after the X-Plane launch

    Project 3

I agree with Florian in general. I've started with the PC's in the '80 but I've switched to the Mac's in the '90. I like them a lot but recently Steve loves his iPad and iPhones more than MacPro's and I didn't like it at all... For the cinematography FCP, Aperture, sound engineering I'm on the Mac entirely, but my big X-Plane system is actually OC to 4.1GHz i7 930 PC not only because of TrackIR support but also similar ATI5870 (on both systems) works better with similar settings on 10.5Mpix PC than on my Mac's (MacPro 2.93 4core) on the 4Mpix X-Plane display actually... Love Mac's, hate Win but for the big system I prefer separate high perf PC. regards arti
  5. I know I'm in minority but I really would like to see the top Quality Leading Edge Simulation: F-14 ! regards arti
  6. Thank you so much! I did Bonanza but also Baron lately. Yes I think sound it's the missing medium from our simulator in general... As you know I've experimented with a vibration devices and I can tell you it's the right direction! Vibration add new dimention to sounds as much as sound improves visuals. You really have to feel it and than the vibrations devices will stay on your XP setup for sure. So I wish you good vibrations:)

  9. Maybe it was badly expressed or I was misunderstood... I appreciate your long team work and actual CRJ release. I think your team was too busy with system modeling to work in parallel on the plugin based sound architecture... So let's try to make step by step improvements.
  10. Sure as an evil I've started the whole "sound crusade" as they called it on the xplane10 blog but with good intentions! CRJ deserve the high quality sound simulation: 1) modern sound architecture (plugin) 2) good quality recordings 16bit/44.1kHz 3) clever sound design 1+2+3=success I know it's not easy to record original sounds in optimal pro quality, record for soundpack creation in mind. It's not possible without the knowledgeable sound engineers on location and the sound designers extracting the sounds and building multilayered compositions... I can understand the release of CRJ was too early for doing plugin adaptation and all the sound design work. But the designers had permission to use the well known sound plugin used on some choppers and on my PFC Bonanza/Baron soundpacks. I like ironic Ben comment about the latest greatest upgrades to the X-Plane sound architecture made by Laminar... sad truth. We're underdeveloped by decades in X-Plane sound department. FSX has quite modern architecture built in the sim, at least 2 fine GUI applications helping in airplane sound design. It's a huge thing. Sorry but I suspect Austin is quite deaf. My opinion about the sound playback on different computers: Each Mac sounds the same, very good quality D/A converters, system drivers work just as they should, no way we can complain. Just listen to the CD Audio, no distortions, sounds fine even for the pro. I don't think PC drivers are so bad (I'm using ASUS 8channel motherboard outputs. Similar to the Mac sound quality). The problem lies in speaker systems... The quality varies widely! Way more than in LCD monitors. regards arti
  11. Sorry Tobs: My original sound file is available for free but it doesn't mean you have any rights to make corrections in the soundfile and make it available for the public. It's illegal. Could you be so kind and remove this link now? thanks
  12. @bokepacha: please don't take it personal probably you're using very good quality speakers. But you're right my sounds are not for everyone or directly targeted for low&medium quality sound path, but they are backward compatible as much as possible (but no you can't substitute the vibration channel with a LFE channel). "far away from being bad" : ) so sweet hehe*, you know, the whole X-Plane sound is a child's play compared to my other creative audio visual activities since '80 [Edited] * I'm joking, I love good sense of humor
  13. It's not that funny. The real problem is the people without professional trained hearing, musical background, have no ability to properly define the frequency range in Hz, or the dynamic range in dB, artifact type, distortions etc etc they have no way to describe the sound properties other than laconic hipitch or low pitch, boomy, noisy, etc. It's difficult to talk with users and force them to use the proper equipment. With visuals everyone can see the smallest chunk of image, shadow, highlight, name the colors, shapes, gradients it's way more descriptive even without the specialized eye training. The vocabulary is way more richer. Also the difference in picture quality on modern medium to high quality monitors are not that huge these days, even the latest generation TN monitors with the right angles looks quite good. These are apples and oranges. arti
  14. Today I've uploaded second ver. with some delicate squeeks. We need to consider 2 things: squeeking sounds and vibrations. You'll not get the whole idea of now it sounds&feels without the vibration device, believe me... The problem is everyone has medium or high quality monitors but the speaker quality varies widely from laptops toyz, chineese $5 buzzers, boombox quality 2500+W cheap speekers;) gamers bad stuff, studio nearfield monitors, home cinema stuff, headphones etc... 2.0 2.1 5.1 6.1, THX (very funny). We need to rely on the Standards to judge the sound quality. The easiest way it to use the nearfield monitors plus vibration optionally. I've prepared special calibration tones for tnie purpose. Trust me the quality starts on the nearfield quality monitors. more on my blog... Regards arti
  15. If you look for more realism please read the description about the vibration devices and redownload the file.
  16. Goran, do you need any basic help in sound editing (looping, filtering)? Do you use Gizmo sound? arti
  17. Thanks, it's the fastest fix. In my free time I'll try to fix too short internal engine samples, with the hiccups. regards arti
  18. Enjoy the Runway Roll... http://sound4xplane.wordpress.com/2011/05/09/artymowicz-aviation-crj-200-runway-roll-replacement-sound/ regards arti
  19. Your 3 monitors have 4Mpix total (like 30" monitor). Imagine 10.5Mpix with 5HD monitors with decent framerate (30-50fps on Oahu with extreme res, shaders, water, but no AA - it's not nedded in such a resolution). Also ATI 5870 but Eyefinity6 (also i7 4Ghz). You have to have a 2GB VRAM for such a configurations to work well but the impression and detail is awesome. Recommended.
  20. Your displays looks "vector like" already in Sundowner & Dutches - crisper than CRJ's... Your cockpits sets the highest possible standard in X-Plane IMO ! Still waiting for your Saab... regards arti
  21. Hi! Congratulations on the long awaited CRJ release. Thanks for another top quality plane with the deep systems but the sound simulation could be better, the default x-plane sound architecture doesn't cut it these days (e.g. external engine low throttle stepping frequency). The SSJ, Yak-40 with SASL and B206, BK-117 with DreamEngine plugins are different league in that respect. The framerate is ok, 33fps (vs. Yak 38fps). Congratulations on the core utilization: it's 500% of 800% on the 4 core Macs (MacPro & MacBookPro). regards arti
  22. Yes yes.. I always do!.. and if people want I will include a download for painting in 3D on photoshop CS4 That is the best for stripes and see it in real time while painting. Yes it would be awesome... thanks arti
