I wondered as well... Personally I already chose the i5, I just wanted to see what other people will say Thanks for your comment!! (Ich nehme an du sprichst auch deutsch? )
Soooo.... I recently wanted to fly from Doha to Munich with the FF 777. I tried 5 times and 4 times I had a crash to desktop because of insufficient specs... I then decided to get a new computer that can run X Plane properly I looked around and the best desktop computer that would fit my needs has the following specs(only listing the important factors): Processor: Intel Pentium Dual Core, 3.8GHz RAM: 8GB memory DDR3 VRAM: Nividia GTX 960 with 2GB GDDR5 OS: Windows 7 Now my questions: -Is a Dual Core processor sufficient or should I upgrade to an i5 with 3.3GHz? -Is 8GB RAM sufficient or do I need 16GB? You fill in all the information in the menu like fuel/pax/... then you click "load fuel" and you will see some bars appearing on top of the menu and hear boarding noises like people talking and luggage loading. As soon as you have clicked "load fuel" the stairs will go up to the door. If you have flown the 777 before, you should know that... I almost forgot: The door where the stairs are located(which is the second right door) has to be open!!
A short hop from San Francisco to Las Vegas!! I had to do a go-around because my 757 was stalling, due to the fact that my auto throttle somehow disengaged on final approach(that was a really close call!!)
I made 4 flights today and 3 of the crashed out of no reason... I just updated to 10.35 there seems to be some conflict with X plane and the OS X version...
I tried it without all scenery and plugins, still no luck sadly. I think the problem is, that X Plane itself doesn't have OTHH in its database yet, so there's some conflict between the 777 Navdata the main x plane apt.dat
I now managed to get to the <Dep page without a crash, but there are only runways listed and no SID's... If I select a runway the SID's that are listed in the OTHH.txt file in the navdata folder of the 777 won't show up. When I go on <Arrival there are no runways/STAR's at all... Very strange
I wanted to fly from Doha to Munich with the FF 777 today. I loaded the aircraft and entered the inertial position/airport Code OTHH which is the new airport in Qatar. Then i activated my route and went on the DEP/ARR page. As soon as I click on <Dep for OTHH X Plane freezes up and I have to force quit it... My log.txt doesn't show anything unusual, I can see that the aircraft and SASL is loaded up correctly and nothing is wrong. I really don't know what the problem could be. I checked the navdata folders of X Plane and the 777, both have OTHH/Doha Hamad included with Sid's and Star's... I'm using cycle 1412. I hope you guys can help me figure out what's the problem here... Log.txt
They are bombarding us currently with screenshots of liveries that will be available once the 330 is released!!! Check it out: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=72942&page=46
I must say, that todays approach+landing topped everything that I ever did in terms of difficulty Munich-Madeira with the amazing Flight Factor 757-300!! Cruising over Spain: Approaching runway 05 reaaalllyy close to the mountains!! The weather was not the best... Safely down and slowing down with max reverse thrust+auto-brakes on 4 Parked at the gate after 30 minutes of adrenalin I can recommend this flight/airport to anyone who has some flight experience and loves difficult approaches!!
