delahousie Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 Just recently purchased flight sim system with xplane 10 already loaded in the computer. I am having trouble with the different panels working . they come on but go off. I am running Windows 8.1. if that helps. Also it seems when I crash the program freezes up afterwards and I have to go to rendering options to reset to multiple screens and then restart the software. Any ideas? Quote
Smack! Posted May 29, 2015 Report Posted May 29, 2015 (edited) I'm in the same situation, just installed X-Plane 10 on a Mac but can not get any plane to follow a GPS route in any of the default planes. Whether I enter waypoints manually or load an FMS flight plan into the GPS not one of the planes will follow the displayed routes. Is something corrupted somehow? Edited May 29, 2015 by Smack! Quote

VORLOC mode = freq. nav (vor / ils)GPS mode = to follow a gps flight plan Edited May 30, 2015 by mmerelles Quote
Smack! Posted May 30, 2015 Report Posted May 30, 2015 (edited) I have tried all of that, still does not work. Er it get's worse.. even the A.I. can not fly some of these default planes. I set the A.I. to do a simple take off in the SSG B747-8i Intercontinental 2.0 but instead it drove the plane off the runway in an anti-clockwise circle and then flipped the plane right on it's back! SwissCyul Posted May 30, 2015 Report Posted May 30, 2015 You should maybe start from the beginning... First:-Read the X Plane manuals and set up your system correctlySecond:-Choose a plane on which you want to learn how to fly and read the manual of this plane, watch youtube tutorials and look for topics on different forums about this plane Then you can return here and ask specific questions, if you still have problems Because right now we can't help you learning how to fly Enjoy X Plane!! Smack! Posted May 30, 2015 Report Posted May 30, 2015 (edited) Hi Mr Swiss.. It's not a case of "needing to learn how to fly". I am not new to flight sims.. I have played X-Plane and FSX on and off for maybe 10 years with no issues in any plane from simple to complex. But this however is my second attempt on a Mac system. I tried X-Plane on a Mac a couple of years ago and the entire autopilot and GPS systems all refused to work then too. I ended up just giving up and deleting the entire program and no one in the forums or even X-Plane support were able to help with these recurring issues. I decided to try again with a new 27" 5K Retina iMac but the same old problem still exists. I can not even get the simplest of planes to follow even the heading bug or maintain a fixed altitude. Every single plane also veers and swerves to the left on any runway and with zero wind forcing me to over compensate with extreme right steering simply to stay on the runway, and as I stated even the A.I is having trouble with some planes. So, I appreciate the tips on taking flying lessons (I did that years ago) and on how to setting up X-Plane, I followed this method (http://www.x-plane.com/downloads/dvd-installation/) I think a case of the installation possibly being corrupted somehow and as such causing things to not work as they should. I will remove the entire program and do a fresh install and see if things improve. edit: Just to see if things are normal on my system I'm installing a clean version of the latest demo that way I can at least rule out the possibility of a corrupted installation. SwissCyul Posted May 30, 2015 Report Posted May 30, 2015 Sorry, but I didn't have that information that you weren't a beginner A clean install hopefully fixes the problems. Which X Plane version are you running and which version of OSX? Quote
Smack! Posted May 30, 2015 Report Posted May 30, 2015 Lol, no worries OK so just installed a the latest demo and a few tested planes are now behaving normally, rolling straight down centre of runway with no pulling to the left issues, able to follow heading bug, and even GPS and FMS are both working now very nicely. Will try adding more planes and more scenery next. I have heard of others having issues trying to run X-Plane 10 on the latest 27" iMac 5k Retina models and that could have been my issue as my copy was pretty old I think. Quote
SwissCyul Posted May 30, 2015 Report Posted May 30, 2015 (edited) There seems to be some conflict with Yosemite and X Plane, I don't know why though...I hope your problem is fixed now!! Enjoy your flights Edited May 30, 2015 by SwissCyul Quote
Smack! Posted May 31, 2015 Report Posted May 31, 2015 (edited) I spoke too soon.. a short while into various flights the controls went haywire and all planes disobey every instruction given. I can not use X-Plane at all.. I have a 27" iMac 5K Retina with Yosemite and X-Plane 10 just does not function correctly on my system at all. Neither with the full install or the latest demo version will any of the planes behave normally.. they all ignore the auto-pilotcompletely, GPS and FMS do not work at all. Impossible to do even the most basic flights. Oh well I guess X-Plane won't be for me any more. Edited May 31, 2015 by Smack! Quote
SwissCyul Posted May 31, 2015 Report Posted May 31, 2015 The only chance might be to downgrade to Mavericks OSX... But by what you're saying, it seems that there is also some problem with your hardware... Do you have all your controllers set up correctly? Quote
Smack! Posted May 31, 2015 Report Posted May 31, 2015 It's a brand new £3,500 iMac. Downgrading to Mavericks is not an option as the mac is set up for high end photography and music studio production. I'm not using any external flight controllers.. just the in plane control panels which really should just work fine. Even with the demo although time limited the only thing that gets disabled is the mouse controlwhich after take off is not even needed if the autopilot functions normally. For some reason they are not. I have downloaded and tested quality 3rd party planes too but it's the same story. Quote
SwissCyul Posted May 31, 2015 Report Posted May 31, 2015 Can you post your last log.txt, specs, hardware settings so I can find out what's wrong? Quote

Oh well I guess X-Plane won't be for me any more. i am running xplane 10 over a retina 5k imac (yosemite) and it runs great. i know a lot of people which are running xplane over 2013 & retina's as well. i am pretty sure you are doing something wrong. I strongly suggest 3 things: 1. Activate frame rates statistics and let us know what you are getting? if they are too bad the simulator will behave erraticaly. In such case you don't know how to activate them go to settings -> data input/output and activate the fourth checkbox left to right over the first line top left corner. 2. upload a screen capture of your rendering settings 3. very helpful, upload a video link to see what is going on. you may capture it with the mobile and upload to youtube. ointment Posted May 31, 2015 Report Posted May 31, 2015 Can't help you without the log.txt at this point. I've been flying X-Plane on Mac since V8 with no problems. We need more concrete information to be able to help you resolve your issues. Quote
chris k Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 (edited) Even with the demo although time limited the only thing that gets disabled is the mouse control Er.... Last time I checked, Everything stops working in the demo. So, you don't have a full paid version of X-Plane? Do the AP/GPS/etc work correctly within the first 10 minutes, then cease to work? If so, this is expected. Ive been running X-Plane 10 on pretty much every version of OSX since SL, ML, Mavericks, Yosemite. Have used it on a Mac Mini, an iMac, a MacBook Pro 2010, MacBook Pro 2013, and a MacPro 2010 for years, and have never experienced the issues you mention under MacOS. However, the only real difference is that I have a fully paid version. There are likely another 10,000 users running on an iMac and Yosemite which also experience no problems, given the threads on other forums and the general makeup of the X-Plane user base. Again, upload Log.txt if anything is very weird, else the trouble may all stem from the demo limitations here. Edited June 2, 2015 by chris k Quote
