wim1976 Posted January 23, 2015 Report Posted January 23, 2015 I am learning more and more about Gizmo. I have been experimenting with a sound file. In the past I bought a sound package of Synchrosoft for FSX and I am trying to convert this to X-Plane. But there is a difference in the sounds via Gizmo/X-Plane and FSX. The FSX-sounds have a higher volume than X-Plane, but the volume differences differs at the different gain values. This causes an other sound character in X-Plane (the lower sounds are more pronounced than in X-Plane). Is there somebody wo experienced the same difference? Is there an easy method to compensate this differences? For FSX there is FS sound studio which I used to understand the settings of the FSX soundfiles. Is there a similar program/plugin for X-Plane? Quote
Ben Russell Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 Gizmo's sound gain control is a direct-mapping into OpenAL gain controls. No value adjustments are made. Quote
wim1976 Posted January 26, 2015 Author Report Posted January 26, 2015 Contains this document the right info about the Open AL implementation in Gizmo? http://www.openal.org/documentation/openal-1.1-specification.pdf Quote
Ben Russell Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 Correct. Almost all of OpenAL documentation can be applied to working with Gizmo64. I've added a small placeholder element to the API docs: http://www.gizmo64.com/Gizmo64_API.htm#al.readme This is worth reading:http://coronalabs.com/blog/2011/07/27/the-secretundocumented-audio-apis-in-corona-sdk/ Quote
wim1976 Posted January 28, 2015 Author Report Posted January 28, 2015 It looks like luaal is gone: https://www.openhub.net/p/luaal/enlistments Quote

wim1976 Posted February 2, 2015 Author Report Posted February 2, 2015 Another good document for OpenAl programming: http://grva.lamce.coppe.ufrj.br/labcogsdk/download/extras/openal/OpenAL_Programmers_Guide.pdf Especially usefull in conjunction with the OpenAL 1.1 Specification and Refercence (see post #3). wim1976 Posted February 3, 2015 Author Report Posted February 3, 2015 After reading the documentation of OpenAL I conclude my ears are still good. OpenAl have a 6dB attenuation at 0.5. FSX plays at -3B at that moment. FSX uses an other gain curve. So I have to think about a conversion formula. Quote
