mraviator Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 I just purchased this aircraft and only have a couple of flights "under the belt". I went to input a few fixes into the FMS to check out it's capabilities, but it appears that it does not know my own location. For example, i'm at San Antonio airport and want to input Austin airport as a destination. It gives me a distance of over 5000 miles to KAUS, even though it's less than 100 miles away. In the Location window, it shows a lat/long of 0/0, so i'm suspecting that it thinks my own location is where the primer meridian intersects the equator....What am I missing? Thanks Quote

When you are entering a flight plan at some point you have to press the D> key to tell the FMS where you are starting from (first waypoint).I would suggest you add this step right after you press the INIT key.So, prior to entering any waypoints, first press the INIT Key and thne the D> Key. This will set the starting way point to your current position (KBDN). After that you can enter the remaining waypoints as DSD, MAVER, BTG, and KPDX. Once you have entered all the waypoints press the SAVE Key. Name the flight plan and save. After that you should be able to load the flight plan without a problem. Note: Before loading the flight plan press the INIT key to clear any existing data in the Active Flight Plan Window if necessary. Quote
mraviator Posted May 28, 2010 Author Report Posted May 28, 2010 So this is not working after all. I select INIT, then the Direct To button. It still thinks i'm somewhere on the equator.... Quote

After that enter your first waypoint and then press the ENTER KEY. The FPL Window should now show the correct Bearing and Distance.Let me know how it goes.Jim Quote

I click FMS on the MFD, then launch the ReadyPad, then press INIT then Direct To before I even bring up the Waypoint window. The attached screen shot shows the result. It displays my latitude correctly (just north of Austin, TX), but my longitude is set to zero. Quote
