jkieffer1957 Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 (edited) Downloaded Maxx FX last night and extracted it. When I tried to run set up I received a windows error (attached File). Says " Windows cannot access the specific device, path or file. You may not have appropriate permission to access this file" . Then the set up icon disappears. I extract the files again and tried to run as administrator and received the same error code. Any advice on how to proceed. I have a Windows 7 machine running 64 bit, with a GeForce GTX 650 Ti graphics card and an Intel I3 CPU with 8 GB of system memory. I appreciate any help you can provide me.RegardsJim KiefferGreenville, NC Edited March 18, 2014 by jkieffer1957 Quote
sqrt(-1) Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 (edited) Where did you extract the files to? Sounds like you put them in a system-owned location. (What is your K: Drive?) Edited March 18, 2014 by SqrtOfNegOne Quote
jkieffer1957 Posted March 19, 2014 Author Report Posted March 19, 2014 K Drive is where I download and save files. Maxx FX was downloaded there and extracted to it's own directory. My X-Plane resides on my L Drive. Is that where Maxx FX should be extracted to and run from there? Jim KiefferGreenville, NC Quote
sqrt(-1) Posted March 19, 2014 Report Posted March 19, 2014 I don't have Maxx FX [yet] but I am assuming it has a similar installation program as SkyMaxx Pro. If you are able to normally run applications from your K drive and point the installation to the X-Plane root directory as requested, you should be fine. The only other thing I am considering here is whether the K and L drives are local or attached via a network. Beyond that, you'll need to have either JohnMAXX or Cameron help you with this. Quote
JohnMAXX Posted March 19, 2014 Report Posted March 19, 2014 I'd have to play around with my windows machine but make sure you are logged into windows as the power admin and you have full access to that drive and the executable for the Maxx Fx install... Quote
jkieffer1957 Posted April 6, 2014 Author Report Posted April 6, 2014 Turns out it was my download. The file was corrupt and never truely downloaded the entire program. Jim KiefferGreenville, NC 1 Quote

JohnMAXX Posted June 19, 2015 Report Posted June 19, 2015 I'm not in front of a windows pc but I think there is an issue with the system font it can't be any larger then 100%....Try adjusting the font size in the control panel and give it a go 1 Quote
guro Posted June 19, 2015 Report Posted June 19, 2015 Hi Thanks JohnMAXX, that's the solution I have a LCD 29" (2560x1080) and the letters are more smaller then I had set it to 125% and the totaly of the X-Aviation window was not on screen Thanks again for the tip guro Quote
Ramel40 Posted November 12, 2017 Report Posted November 12, 2017 Wondering if there is a better fix. I received the "Specify a value" error message, resized my text and resolution and the window is just as small. I even tried tabbing but that did not work either. Quote
