Jim Kallinen Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 Oh no, this does not sound good at all.http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-26492748
Michael_Chang Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 so much for the 777's perfect record I've got a really bad feeling about this...

Orcair Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 (edited) so much for the 777's perfect record I've got a really bad feeling about this...Unfortunately Asiana 214 was the first fatal flight. Hope to the crew and passengers. Edited March 8, 2014 by Orcair
SwissCyul Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 That would be the first serious 777 crash in history… And i doesn't look good right now. The most important question right now is, if the T7 crashed over the South China sea or land.
Jim Kallinen Posted March 8, 2014 Author Report Posted March 8, 2014 There have been volcano`s erupting in Malaysia lately. Hoping no ash cloud took it out.
SwissCyul Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 I hope we get more news tomorrow(I have a direct contact to the Icao safety department). If they get something new i will tell you guys. 1
Liner45 Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 did this incident happen when they were still climbing or cruising?
SwissCyul Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 did this incident happen when they were still climbing or cruising? The aircraft was on route since 2 hours when the atc controllers lost contact. So i guess it was cruising…
Jim Kallinen Posted March 8, 2014 Author Report Posted March 8, 2014 (edited) Had just entered Viet Nam air space when contact was lost. No idea if over land or sea. Edited March 8, 2014 by Jim Kallinen
Liner45 Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 An official at the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) said the plane had failed to check in as scheduled at 1721 GMT (12.21 p.m. ET) while it was flying over the sea between Malaysia and Ho Chi Minh city.
SwissCyul Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 I think that theory with the volcano ash sounds like a possible explanation for me. If the flight crashed into the sea, they will have to do a really big search and rescue operation. This reminds me a little bit of the Air France flight 447 A330-200 crash 4 years ago.
SwissCyul Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 The flight profile shows a sudden loss in speed, then a turn off course, then back on course. After that it disappeared from the radar screen.

Ash cloud is near impossible, MH370 did not give out a single distress message to MH HQ, AF447 did give out distress messages for over 5mins to AF HQ. I'll also see what my ICAO contact has in terms of info...
SwissCyul Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 Ash cloud is near impossible, MH370 did not give out a single distress message to MH HQ, AF447 did give out distress messages for over 5mins to AF HQ. I'll also see what my ICAO contact has in terms of info...It is not really impossible. There are a ton of unanswered questions. We don't know what happened. So we can't say that this is impossible or possible. First of all they need to find the wreckage. The only clue where the plane is located, is a about 150 km long oil trace on the ocean.
Ryan M. Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 Speculation is tat it went down in water. It would have appeared to be less than 75 feet of water, so identifiable parts of the plane would stay intact.
Jim Kallinen Posted March 8, 2014 Author Report Posted March 8, 2014 And no ELT detection reported yet. Must be bad.
SwissCyul Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 Maybe something new:-Aircraft had a ground collision at Shanghai Pudong Airport in 2012, part of the right wing was ripped off -before radar contact loss the aircraft dropped 200 meters and then performed a 180 degree turn, after that the signal was gone-last contact was about 223km SW from the Vietnamese coast

U2 Fan Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 Two of the passengers had fake ID's, sounds like a terrorist attack to me... @SwissCyul: Another flaw in your theory is that previous to MH370 there where two incidents of planes having flown into hash clouds (BA and KL 747's) and in both cases the crew had time to send a MAYDAY and none of the two crashed, so how would a hash could make a T7 go down in seconds?
ointment Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 And no ELT detection reported yet. Must be bad.I read late last night a report that stated the Vietnamese Navy had seen the aircraft on their radar and watched it disappear. The report also stated they (Vietnamese Navy) were indeed picking up an ELT signal.
SwissCyul Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 (edited) The volcanic ash theory is indeed not really possible. I am starting to thing that it was a terrorist attack. I thought that they didn't get the ELT signal. The bizarre fact is that they didn't find any debris in the ocean. If someone had a really powerful bomb on board, and it detonated at 30 000 feet, there would be nothing found on the ground. This is a really crazy case… Edited March 8, 2014 by SwissCyul

This is a really crazy case… they did say that oil slicks were found, if the plane exploded mid air, the fuel probably would've spread out much more than just two slicks, assuming those slicks are from the jet
