Regarding racetracks ... I did a (quite simple) model of Oschersleben in Germany as you can see in the video below. But I doubt it will be ok according to todays standards ... Nevertheless - enjoy the video ;)

racetracks , golf courses , swimming pools etc....  wish it could be done easily would be much fun.

I think GMaps will require authentication to download as google warehouse now needs authentication.

I'd suggest, let's first get serious stuff done about all landclasses & houses... this 3D library once heavily filled in, would already be a very big improvement on global scenery. Racetracks, golf courses etc... are secondary I'd like to say :-)

Agreed,

Also, I've pulled the download from the site as since going live on x-plane.org's front page, hundreds of people downloaded the application not understanding what it does, and how to use it. So after receiving a few nasty emails, I've temporarily pulled the download.

Also, I've made the decision to drop 32-Bit support, this shouldn't be an issue I hope. The application simply needs too much memory to process files, and the 2GB limit in 32-Bit Java is too little.

I think the best thing to do is simply aim this at scenery developers and not normal users.

Nasty emails?

Some people really need to get a grip.

I'm sure I don't need to remind you as plenty of people here have already done so, but you're doing absolutely sterling work, a game changer probably in my and many others opinions. Let the bad karma wash off you like water off a ducks back.

Indeed, and people forget that I'm doing this for free and don't owe them anything. I made the same mistake in the past when I released by GTA map editor too early. So I think at this point it's better to make the beta private.

Of course anyone who knows the basics of X-Plane scenery is welcome to use the beta, just let me know and I'll send you the latest beta

Ha ha I give up, I've uploaded the beta again to the website (I got another load of emails from people(developers??) wanting to test), but it will only be hosted there, I've dropped 32-bit support, and there is a big fat red warning that it's only for developers.

@Tony,

 What is different in the new Beta ? I downloaded and compiled Genf and I think got an error in Xplane  (LOL that was on Hackintosh in the Office). I will it on my desktop now.

Avsim is back.

Read the changelog in the zipped folder, it has a detailed list. Yes, please let me know what the error was :)

@Tony,

 I removed Dalkan's buildings and using Genf compiled with the Beta no errors atm.

Going to compile NL with the Beta.

London pbf from bbbike gives errors.

Please paste the errors here, as I can't help if I don't know what the error is.

I'm currently building France (have left it going for a few hours). It's about 40% through. The French data is quite evil to the generator, so if it generates successfully, then I'll take that as a new milestone :)

Great,  Let me finish compiling NL and I will start with London, NL compiling may take a bit longer than the previous compile , as I have down clocked my CPU to 3.0 .

The problem is too many trees in London (same problem which crashed France).

I'm uploading a patch for it (lowered the density of trees), but the random rule is causing too many problems at the moment. It's a shame, as this is one of the things that makes the biggest difference to the scenery

I think it was London, and it's fixed in the latest version on the website i.e 0.1.1 Beta 1. But,, London isn't too impressive, it's quite empty in OSM unfortunately. The German and French cities are miles ahead in comparison. So get contributing ;-)

The problem in London was too many trees inside a random zone (I've emailed LR about it). I'm working on two solutions for it at the moment

1) Break the residential zone into smaller areas and use forests when the zone is empty (which will hugely reduce the number of object trees)

2) Add a new rule to just place trees next to houses (I'm not sure when I'll get this done, as I probably won't get much done over the weekend). This will really improve areas where there are buildings but nobody has tagged any residential zones.

well, it's better first to optimize the tool and then generate the whole world, there are some osm sceneries downloadable, also on my web site ;)

so if you are interested helping us, please make checks if all is built up well, make suggestions to improve, help us with objects... :)
