guys guys guys.... fasten your seatbelt, it's going to be fast!!!! :-)

ATTENTION THOUGH: IT IS NOT YET ONLINE, and will be when it's finished... when? When it's finished! :-) PLEASE, do NOT e-mail to have it :-)

New GUI...

First Tab... here i'm gonna render NL (netherlands, EU)

image.jpg

2nd tab... new: you now can chose your config.xml file... if you have any other configs around, it's nice :-)

PLOY file... will help to now join the countries on the proper way. It SEEMS like the rough cuts are gone now on limits between rendered countries.

image.jpg

So, let's start rendering, time stamp 22:50
image.jpg

crazy, after (22:58) not even 8 minutes all 5 passes done so far... that was way slower before!

And here, stunning stuff too. First tab again, teh Tiles are shown. It's going live! Red: not started, blue started, green done...

image.jpg

and once a tile is done, the part of the country shines thrue... ok useless, but HEY, IT'S BEAUTIFUL! :-)
image.jpg

And below, finished for NL.
image.jpg

image.jpg

THe version before took me NL over 2 hours rendering. Now? (23:15)
image.jpg

25 MINUTES!!!

in the meantime I chatted around with tony, ...

So, then Belgium.....(23:43)
image.jpg
CRAZY, the 5 passes in less then 2 minutes!!!!

This time, I setup 6 cores... so he gets 6 tiles at once!
image.jpg
fast and surely....
image.jpg
FINISHED!!!!!!!
image.jpg
Time?
image.jpg

(23:50) UNDER 8 MINUTES!!!! (20 on version before)

I've flown from BE over to NL, and couldn't see any anomaly this time, so it looks like it works, the overlapping problem from country to country looks history.

And now the biggest and hardest news: we have to wait up when it's done. When? When it's done....

There is still lots to do in 0.4.0. The introduction of multithreading in 0.3.1 has caused lots of problems for a few people, so Blacky's testing so far is positive and shows I'm on the right track with the fixes.

Well, always keep in mind that the performance achieved is highly machine dependend. I'm lucky and was able to change my config just in time, regarding on what's up to W2XP :-) :-)

- I use 'local storage' option on a RAMDRIVE,

- I allocate 20Gb RAM to the app

Now if it would be:

- local storage on SSD

- allocate only 4Gb...

the result would have end another way (from the time duration of rendering only). Main issue for low RAM config, will be multithreading I guess. On 6 core-runs I had 12GbRAM peaks, on 4 cores 9Gb... so carefull.

The GUI is really a nice addon! But again, the main pre-configuration will still remain in the config.xml. So its targetting more advanced users when it comes to specific needs...

Thnks Tony to stay motivated, highly appreciated :-) :-)

I'll try to support what I can when you have questions, not leaving it all up to tony... yesternight I encountered myself an issue, a very stupid one even, just to say it happens and will happen often :-)

I've run NL without problems... now if you saw the time gap between end of NL rendering, and beginning of BE rendering in the above posts, was my fault ^^ On the second tab of W2XP, instead of pointing to the config file, I've put the pbf file into. Don't ask me why, maybe the night-time... but after sending a print to tony, he pointed me that mess out :-) SOOOO stupid error :-) I can only say: before asking help, read it all through, but sometimes another person, another look is needed ^^ ... I'd even add, don't do it over night ^^ lol

Re:trucks and fire trucks placed on different spots. Not sure what you mean, if you are talking about the construction vehicles, then these are placed on building sites. Check the area in OSM, and you'll probably find they are building something there and it no longer matches the photo scenery you are using   :)

I have made some screenshots of the construction vehicles. It seems that the Netherlands is full of building activities everywhere I see flashing lights of the bulldozer. Checking OSM, and yes that are planned new residential area's. I see however that most places are still only planned with no building activity. Is it possible to turn the lights of from the bulldozer, because it looks odd at the moment.

The only way to remove them is generate the scenery yourself and remove the rules inside resouces/config.xml for landuse=construction and amenity=parking. It does look pretty odd without photoscenery so they are best being disabled, and also there shouldn't be items on the road, this is a bug.

Great job on the GUI work Blacky. Out of interest, what are you using to code it?

I'm the only one working on World2XPlane and the GUI, blacky is doing the buildings and testing for me ;-)

I've tested 0.4.0 sceneries taken from Simheaven, all are great but Germany which takes ages to load in the sim and it is also way way heavier in terms of performance than the other countries, even if for example France file is bigger.. any clues? Thanks guys for the awesome work.

The config used to generate this is generating absolutely everything, including fences, streetlights, individual trees, fire hydrants etc.. Since most of this information isn't in France, but is in Germany, this is likely the cause. I'll add two config files with the final version, one for HD scenery and one without (i.e. No lights, fences and little objects). This should help with loading times and give people an idea of how to configure things, etc..

Any bigger file means more data inside

Not necessarily. France has far more buildings, this is true, but Germany, where populated, has more smaller details, e.g. Fences, indivudal trees, park benches etc. Germany also has better mapped zones, e.g. Residential and Industrial zones are clearly defined, but in France, this often isn't the case.

Great! Another good thing about the 0.4.0 i tried is that now the xp density settings work!! :)

That's great. I'd say that I have no idea how it's working, as I haven't yet looked at this. But if it's working, then hey, who am I to complain :)

I tested after downloading France, Germany, Italy, Luxemburg, Netherlands and Switzerland and got an error message about missing item or more likely facades.

I might redo the test later using another toll to decompress the files…

@Tony

@Blacky

@All

I have used W2XP and generated the OSM scenery for India which still does not have enough data. But hey I wanted to try it out. This is with the HD config file. And It felt real nice in certain areas. I wanted to post the Sea link but I did not fly there which is 230 from VABB.

Ran XPX on the laptop @1.6 Ghz as I did want to overheat it and all ran fine , reason being not much of buildings for India atm.  The generation did take around 40-50 mins. No errors detected.

The shots have been taken at Bombay VABB using real weather fetch and flywithlua.
