flydav Posted November 25, 2013 Report Posted November 25, 2013 I followed John's suggestions to use the NOAA plugin but I'm not understanding a few things in the settings regarding the switch to Metar option and the altitude that this is supposed to happen. What is this? Could you please post a screenshot of the settings you recommend that work best with Skymaxx? Thanks a lot! Quote
AtomicFrawg Posted November 25, 2013 Report Posted November 25, 2013 Check all box's except for the Vatsim weather and click apply. (unless you are flying on Vatsim) Quote
flydav Posted November 25, 2013 Author Report Posted November 25, 2013 Thanks but unfortunately it is not working, it's stuck to "downloading new cycle" I entered a FL 60 as suggested by the author, but can't figure out what is wrong Quote
v_buttstedt Posted November 25, 2013 Report Posted November 25, 2013 The box to enter the altitude, if you want FL060, you need to enter 6.If you enter 60, it assumes FL600… Quote
flydav Posted November 26, 2013 Author Report Posted November 26, 2013 That can't be true because the plugin comes with a default value of about 1000, but in any case the plugin doesn't download anything regardless of the value that I enter in that box Quote
pryoski Posted November 26, 2013 Report Posted November 26, 2013 (edited) Hi flydav, when you've saved your plugin settings for NOAA Weather, you need to go into XP weather menu check the 'use weather from the net' option is selected (I can't recall exactly what the radio button is called).I don't know if it's required, but I always initiate a manual download, after which NOAA seems to settle into the downloads itself. I'm not sure about the flight level thing within the plugin ... best bet would be to contact Joan (author) and I think there might be some documentation as well in the install folders .. but will have to wait until I get home ... The EDIT: Also found this on the Org; The first wind level is at FL100 let some space to let x-plane transition from the metar wind.So yes 5000 is a great value. But you must enter the Flight Level on the settings window so 5 is the value to set. That's what will happen:From 0 to 5000 xplane sets weather (METAR)At 5000 feet GFS controls weather, sets the next wind layer to FL100 and x-plane will transition as you ascents.GFS will control winds for the rest of layers.During the descent at 5000 feet GFS will enable METAR again and X-Plane will do a time based transition to the METAR values. flydav Posted November 26, 2013 Author Report Posted November 26, 2013 Thanks Kris, the documentation is just about installation and software requirements, not a real explanation on the settings and yes I only use real weather so that option is checked, i'll change that FL to "5" and see what happens Quote
ludovic.torok Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 Hy,I set fl100 in noaa plugin, check all without vatsim, but when i hit save and apply, with noaa plugin its raining, without no, in real life not raining. Wy is this variation of time? And with pyton plugins active wy when i adjust trothle the map zoom change too? Its a bug? How can i fix it?Thanks Quote
MercuryMat Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 (edited) 100 is FL100 so (almost) 10000ft. 95 is FL95 so (almost) 9500ft. I use this and the plugin goes quite well... if you put 5 you are assuming you switch weather at 500ft. 50 to 5000ft and so on. Edited November 27, 2013 by Mad Mat 1 Quote
reyduart Posted March 23, 2014 Report Posted March 23, 2014 Sorry to enter in this post but I am fighting against a problem that probably is related to these plugins.I bought Skymaxx plugin and am using NOAA plugin.I pst the capacity to setup a real clean blue sky.I don't know why but I can access the weather setup in the x-plane directory. It remains fixed in the GRAB REAL WEATHER FROM THE NET option..Maybe is due to these plugins? or is that a bug? Thanks in advance if someone could give some help. Quote
Cameron Posted March 23, 2014 Report Posted March 23, 2014 If I remember right this is caused by the NOAA plugin. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk Quote
