flydav Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 (edited) I would like to report this thing that just happened on a recent flight: I was climbing with AP engaged and everything was just fine the modes engaged were HDG and IAS, checklist completed up to the climb check. At some point I was hovering with the mouse cursor the area on the yoke, where the trim and red disengage button are, and accidentally clicked and this is what happens: 1. AP disengages + warning sound 2. Tried to switch the AP again on but when it was on the modes weren't working and they were disappearing from the ND too, so AP ON but no modes.3. Tried to switch AP off and it does switch OFF, the modes reappear on the ND and AP panel.4. Tried to re-switch AP ON and it does go on but modes disappear again from the ND. and over and over, with the result that I wasn't able to fly with the AP on anymore, which I liked and I also enjoyed the failure as a one time event. Now everything started from a mistake on my side but obviously there was a problem with the AP was I supposed to reset it somehow? Was this a bug? Just want to report it to you. Edit: I turned the AP on with the mouse and with my joystick, tried both way with the same result. Edited October 16, 2013 by flydav Quote

Specifics are important... ie. 1.) Did you click on the "AP Disconnect" button OR the "Trim" button? ... makes a BIG difference.2.) Did you cancel the AP disco warning after the AP disconnected?3.) Not sure what you mean when you say... "modes weren't working and they were disappearing from the ND too, so AP ON but no modes." What are you referring to as the "ND"? If you can reproduce this with EXACT steps let me know. Edited October 16, 2013 by JGregory Quote

arb65912 Posted December 16, 2013 Report Posted December 16, 2013 2.) Did you cancel the AP disco warning after the AP disconnected? Jim, how do you do that? Every time I disconnect autopilot I have the warning beep going on. I do not see anything to press to disable warning. I have looked at the manual ( maybe not hard enough ) but with no luck. What I do, I just slide the warning volume slider down but this is of course not what I would like to do. Thank you. Cheers, AJ Quote
JGregory Posted December 16, 2013 Report Posted December 16, 2013 AJ, Just click on the AP disco button on the yoke and it will cancel the warning. Quote
arb65912 Posted December 16, 2013 Report Posted December 16, 2013 (edited) THAT simple Jim? Thank you. Will try tonight. Cheers, AJ P.S. Enjoying Saab more and more, really. arb65912 Posted December 16, 2013 Report Posted December 16, 2013 AJ, Just click on the AP disco button on the yoke and it will cancel the warning. Sorry but one more question. What command do I use to assign autopilot connect/disconnect on the yoke to my real yoke? Thank you, cheers, AJ Quote
JGregory Posted December 16, 2013 Report Posted December 16, 2013 (edited) What command do I use to assign autopilot connect/disconnect on the yoke to my real yoke? The autopilot engage/disengage slider ... The yoke disco button... NOTE: These commands are easily found in the joystick/key assignment windows. Edited December 16, 2013 by JGregory Quote
