Screenshots, Movies in Windows 7

Just got a new PC platform for the sim... now I'm unable to create screenshots or

movies in x-plane. Ctrl period for screenshot and I find no shots in the folder.

Ctrl spacebar for movies, I see the prompt movie being recorded... again no

movies in the folder.

Windows 7 64-bit the problem?

Hi Herb !

I had the same problem with 64 bit Ubuntu Linux 9.04. I thought it was because of my french AZERTY keyboard, so I just changed the key assignements.

I have win7 x64 and don't have the issue, so it must be something else.

I have the same problem in Windows 7 X64 Ultimate.

Run a windows 7 search of the entire system. I found out that X-Plane seemed to be storing pictures somewhere unusual on the harddrive.

Ah - do you have x-p[lane installed in the program files area? Mine is installed outside of this so no uac problems.

Running as adin might fix, or moving the x-plane folder outside of the program files path.

This was going to be my question as well. UAC issues in the program files folder. Ben Supnik has said many a time it's not suggested to install X-Plane in the program files folder.

Aah. I see. Well I can deal with it. I wish the developers could fix this.

To be told by the manufacturer NOT to install your program in the program files folder is just a little silly in my opinion.

Part of the reason behind this is because X-Plane doesn't utilize registry values for it's install process. The updater doesn't either. I actually prefer it the way it is, as it's very easy to trash X-Plane and know you've truly trashed it if you want a fresh install.

also the fact that you can pick up an install folder, move it to another machine and run the exe.
