cessna729 Posted June 3, 2013 Report Posted June 3, 2013 (edited) how do you setup the fms so that it lines you up for an approach and landingWhat do you mean: "so that it lines you up for an approach and landing"?Are you saying say: your able to set up an ILS/VOR/NDB/GPS but the runway dosn't appear directly in front? We need a bit more information to be able to help. Note if you have any add-on scenery sometimes an the runway may not be alligned correctly with the X-Plane ILS etc and nothing to do with the CRJ. Have you watched JRollon's exelent turorial videos or looked at the manual? Once you have done both of those things, if you still have problems, post details of which Airports and which approach you want to set up and attach a copy of your Log.txt file, and details on which navdata your using (Navigraph of Aerosoft NDP, 1305 or 1306 or default if you havn't updated the navdata?). cessna729. BWolf7 Posted June 4, 2013 Report Posted June 4, 2013 Go to the local map, or skyvector.com and find the ILS frequency of the runway you want to land. Enter that into the NAV1 radio and set your nav source to NAV1. Once lined up with the runway and at 3,200 feet AGL, (assuming you want the glideslope, just hit APPR, and let the plane land. At 10 feet AGL, the A/P will dissengage and assuming you can properly descend 10 feet, you will have a successful autoland landing, This is the procedure for most planes with an autoland function. Andyrooc Posted June 5, 2013 Report Posted June 5, 2013 (edited) At a wild guess (due to lack of info), you're trying to lock on to an ILS approach, and are wondering how. Read up on ILS & NAV & Glideslopes. Basically, you're going to tune your Nav1 radio to the runway's ILS frequency, use the Nav Source knob to select Nav 1 (not FMS), press NAV & APPR, the approach the runway until you get a lock - maybe about 10nm out. The X-Plane manual has a section on ILS navigation and a quick Google turned up excellent tutorial results. The CRJ tutorial has some instructions starting about page 46 - although you would be well advised to start at the beginning. Edited June 5, 2013 by Andyrooc Quote
