Hello

Just wanted to ask, is there any flight planning tool similar to Jeppsen's one?

Jeppsen's fp tool is very expensive, and also I'm only flying on a sim not in real life :D.

Any good priced ones for Windows?

Thanks

For simple flight plans, you can use PlanG. It's freeware and very intuitive. Can also be used for simple IFR:

http://www.tasoftware.co.uk/planG.htm

PlanG has full X-Plane integration, i.e. it can use X-Plane's navigation database and show several in-flight infomation. It can also print nicely looking flight plans.

If you need North Atlantic Tracks, you can use FlightSim Commander. It's payware, though:

http://www.fscommander.com

Although it's website does not state this, FSCommander can export flight plans in X-Plane format -- but you need FSX, because FSCommande can't use X-Plane's navigational data directly.

Personally, I first let me generate a route suggestion by RouteFinder (online, http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/) and then use this for creating my flight plan in PlanG.

Doesn't work. I'm on XP and it won't run .NET framework. Tried resolving it with Microsoft, but my system doesn't support it. :(

Back to using Goodway.

Well, you have to admit that XP is a pretty old OS.  Microsoft has already issued End-of-Life status to XP.  It won't be long before you won't even get the security updates.

Time to update to at least Win7 perhaps?

XP? Old? tsk.   I gave up on security updates YEARS ago.  It was getting ridiculous having to download and install updates every time I switched it on.

And MS issuing end of life status? They do that with many things which run perfectly fine.

No to Win 7, too many issues for my liking.

Odd thing is, some of my music software requires (and runs) .NET framework (perfectly), iirc. Just Plan-G needs version 4.  So if you're running XP, forget Plan-G.
