How do I do a walk-around?

Hi there,

 

Is it possible to "exit" the aircraft you have loaded and "walk" around the outside of the aircraft whilst controlling your view - as if doing a walkabout and inspecting your aircraft, without losing the aircraft you loaded?

 

This was something you could do in (dare I say it!) MS Flight that was a really novel feature that added a lot more immersion than I first gave it credit for.

 

The fact that you were a "human" with head-bobbing in between steps and even footsteps I seem to recall.

That would be cool.  Actually even the hilarious "bus simulator" has this.  But I dare say it is very low on the scale of work to be done.  I mean they don't even have an ATC that works yet.

Not exactly "walking", but this works:

 

"Free view camera" -> 'c'

 

Use mouse to look around, < > Up down left right to translate, rotate, etc.

 

I use this all the time to check scenery areas.

Shift-6 and Shift-8 also work; centres view on your airplane. Left/right rotate around the plane.

and shift-4 and also 3D cockpit view if the plane does not restrict movements to the cockpit.

I think you can also use "." and "," to move away from your aircraft.
