Joystick Key Question

I know I can use XPLMRegisterHotKey to callback a key press - what I want to do is the same thing, but for a joystick press.

In more detail I would like to intercept a mapping and execute a function when that occurs.

The mapping I want to intercept is for chase view. So whatever is mapped to chase view, I would like to use that as my hotkey.

Is this possible using the SDK?
