Creating objects in SketchUp

I am in the process of making some hangar objects in SketchUp and I have been trying to find out how to put the textures and colours used on the various faces of the object onto the required one texture file/collage. Do I somehow open up the 'object' SketchUp file in GIMP or the like and do it like that? I have tried the 'other' site but it is loading up extremely slowly tonight, so I was hoping somebody could help out here.

I have downloaded the export file from Marginal's website so I am ready to go in that respect.

Any help is much appreciated.

Regards

Simon

Thanks Kaphias.

The tutorials you speak of are by Simmo I believe, but he doesn't actually show the one little bit I'm after. He goes through actually texturing the object in lesson 1, and then swaps textures with othe png's already created and how to put these on the object in SU, I want to know how I should create the 'collage' png file from SU in the first place, so it can be exported to XP with the required one texture file.

Thanks for the help everybody.

Still not making clear the part I want to know. I have textured the hangar in SU, but I know I have to put these textures on one 1024x1024(or whatever to power 2) png file. How do I get the textures I have used in SU into GIMP to make the png?

Many thanks,

Simon

Generally people design their textures in GIMP (or Photoshop, etc.) then import them to SketchUp and texture the building. I'm not sure if the textures included in SketchUp can be exported so that you could design the texture file using those textures instead of making your own, did a little Googling and couldn't find a straight answer for the latest version.
