Simon, don't go to Beta 10 yet. Something is definetly wrong with the clouds, guys are complaining on many sites. They are horrible compared to what was there in earlier betas. If I could go back to Beta 7 right now I would.

Thanks Glen. So does anyone know if they intend to fix? Or do we all need to protest like I've seen at MS Flight's Facebook page?!

I made a few screenshots. The frame rate went down quite a bit as I zoomed out to a wide angle like this, but I think it was necessary to show how the clouds change at the different percent settings.

The file names are 20, 40, 70 and 100, which is the percent used. Then there's an image of the clouds set up for the screenshots.

The time I went from 25% to 100% must have been with real time weather, because I didn't have too much clouds, rather light and natural for that area really. But with big, thick clouds as in this screenshot, I preferred flying with 40% unless I'd choke my system.

Yes those cumulus clouds look good from below still as in 7 unless your 15K above them. Then not so much anymore. Either way nice pics. Add 3 layers of cumulus, Mega tons objs. At tom curtis KSEA and youll get in the 21 to 26 fps only

But why do you complain about it? You're clearly OFF COURSE. Maybe XP is punishing you for it. -_-

Hmm lets see here...Maybe because they took something that worked fine and looked great in beta 7 and made it look worse and run not as good. But yeah y am i complaining.... Hmmmm. And those screenies you took are a good example. If you would have took them around any populated area and not out where there are hardly any OBJs you woulda gotta lower frames than you were. Either way i can still get good frames just looks like crap..... Ahhhh beta 7 how i miss you. This video i made in beta 7 on vatsim. There were three layers of clouds, Extreme res.Mega tons obs,Tons on the roads, World detail distance very high and still got 45 frames around the clouds. 40,40,40 on the three sliders. New betas cant get that look anymore. :(
