philipwyatt Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 Hello everyone......very glad to say that the folks at fseconomy have fixed the plugin so that we can all now fly the crj sucessfully without the fuel issue happening.......I am however having an issue with the plane not taking 3 digit ICAO codes for remote airports from where i am flying. BUO...Bulolo in Papua New Guinea is where I have bought my brand new CRJ-200ER in FSE and I cannot get the IRS to line up due to the fact that the fms will not accept the 3 digit code even thogh I checked x-plane and the airport is certainly in there as BUO. Am I doing something wrong here? Phillip maybe you could suggest what I am doing wrong here or whether it is an error or bug? I am a bit worried about this as I just spend over 5 million dollars on the plane and that took me several years to save up!!!! Please let me know as FSEconomy has assignments in and out of pretty much every airport in the world and I want to take my CRJ all over but cannot if I cannot get the fms and irs to work properly with 3 letter codes! Another example is 55J or Ferandina beach in FloridaThanks in advance for the solution or suggestion!?Phil Quote
eaglewing7 Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 Now, bear in mind that I do not own the CRJ but I do think I may have the answer...The FMS gets its data from airnav, which uses a fairly up to date set of data for world airports and ICAOs. It could be that most of these airports are closed, 55J is closed in real life, which is likely why your having that problem, FSE does not close airports even if they close in real life. Quote
Nova Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 The problem you have is that you are NOT using ICAO codes, but IATA.IATA has 3 digits, and those are not used for flighplans. You have to use the 4 digit ICAO codes!John F. Kennedy International Airport is JFK as IATA, but KJFK as ICAO.Munich Franz Josef Strauß Airport is labeled as MUC as IATA but EDDM as ICAO.So you have to look up the right ICAO codes. Quote
MdMax Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 Hi all !It looks like there's no ICAO code for Bulolo Airport: :-\http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_airports_by_IATA_code:_Bhttp://www.prokerala.com/travel/airports/papua-new-guinea/bulolo-airport.htmlhttp://theairdb.com/airport/BUL.htmlhttp://www.airportnavfinder.com/airport/BUL/(IATA:BUL)Runway 15 / 33Dimensions: 4382.4 x 197 feetSurface: DirtYou want to land the CRJ on this runway ? Papua New Guinea to Florida involved me heading directly North then over the top of the world through Alask and down so its going to be a long hike! Quote
woweezowee Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 For the US airports as names in FSE when they have 3 digits, usually just put a "K" in front of the 3 digits. Like my "homebase" = 8S2 = K8S2.Great purchase! I'd wish I'd have that much money. At the moment I am speculating on the Saab, +/- 3mil.Don't worry about 4000ft runways. Works perfect if you plan safely and come in with a stable approach just above stall speed. I could have landed it on much shorter strips already. Hey, this is FSE, not real life Quote
