MaidenFan Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 I bought a new computer yesterday...Intel Core i5 Quad CoreRadeon HD 6570 with 1GB VRAM8GB RAMWindows 7 HomeIt won't recognize the disk! ??? I returned X-Plane and bought a whole new one and it still won't recognize it. On the package, it said it was for Windows XP and Vista, but I know a lot of guys run it on Windows 7. It's not my disk drive because my computer runs other disks fine.Any help would be appreciated. If you want more info, let me know. Quote
Goran_M Posted May 27, 2011 Report Posted May 27, 2011 You may have "Autorun" turned off.If this is the case, go into your Windows Explorer, select the Disc Drive, find the X Plane executable file and double click it.I know you said you got a new x plane disc, but check the disc anyway for scratches, dirt, smudges, etc...You may also have dirt or dust inside the disc drive. Give it a good blow inside the drive or even better, get a can of compressed air and use that. Quote
Oliver Posted May 27, 2011 Report Posted May 27, 2011 What Version of 7 is it? 32bit or 64bit? Not sure if that has anything to do with it... I'm trying to think of all things that could be wrong. It's strange... I run Win 7 64bit + X-Plane perfectly well... Quote
Simmo W Posted May 27, 2011 Report Posted May 27, 2011 Does it recognize other disks? Try finding the .exe manually via explorer and double clicking it. You should be able to see all the files.Welcome to Windows :-) Quote

MaidenFan Posted May 27, 2011 Author Report Posted May 27, 2011 I got it working! The windows disk set didn't work, but it did recognize on my Mac. I just got the the Windows installer and put it on a flash drive. Then I used the original Mac discs and it worked like a charm! I just did a quick run through with the CRJ and it was great! It look so much crisper on the 27" display and I can read the displays without using pop-up panels. Thanks for the support guys. I got a little worried it wouldn't work. Those darn computers sometimes... ;D Quote
