Jeff Fortuna Posted April 22, 2019 Report Posted April 22, 2019 I have had this plane for a few months now. I have NEVER been able to start it without using the tutorial - which starts the plane automatically. I have followed the startup procedure EXACTLY (it is actually very simple) and after engaging the starter the prop never spins beyond very slowly. There are no failures - the plane is in perfect condition according to the maintenance report. With hundreds of hours in X-Plane I have NEVER encountered something that is more difficult than starting this plane. At this point, I would say that on my sim, it is not possible to start. I have reinstalled many times and it doesn't make any difference. Obviously there isn't a bug here since it works fine for hundreds of users but I would have to say that it simply isn't worth the effort trying to accomplish such a difficult task! Perhaps someone has some suggestions... As it stands, I have NEVER been able to fly this plane. This is indeed unfortunate because it is a fantastic plane by all accounts. Quote
brettnicholls Posted April 22, 2019 Report Posted April 22, 2019 Hi is your Battery good. Does it spin faster on the GPU? Quote
RobW05 Posted April 22, 2019 Report Posted April 22, 2019 Maybe a short video would help us helping you. Quote
flyboydanmke Posted April 22, 2019 Report Posted April 22, 2019 Are you introducing fuel? And you don't have the generator engaged before starting? Quote
Goran_M Posted April 22, 2019 Report Posted April 22, 2019 If it's struggling to start, then it's definitely an electrical issue. Quote
Jeff Fortuna Posted April 22, 2019 Author Report Posted April 22, 2019 The battery is good. The generator is not engaged. It does not spin even a bit faster on the GPU. I am going to try one more complete reinstall. If this doesn't work, I will post a video. Thank you very much for the replies and help. Quote
RobW05 Posted April 22, 2019 Report Posted April 22, 2019 One thing worth to try is to completely disconnect all your hardware (flight stick, yoke...) and try only with your mouse. Something may be interfering here and prevent fuel flow. Quote
Gregg Seipp Posted April 22, 2019 Report Posted April 22, 2019 Just to state the obvious...the fuel selector is on the left or right tank, right? Ignition AUTO? Quote
Jeff Fortuna Posted April 22, 2019 Author Report Posted April 22, 2019 Thanks again for all of the help... After reinstalling, it is easy to start. I was able to easily start it multiple times. I didn't think I was doing anything wrong - because the process is very simple - much easier than many GA planes, in fact. Something in the electrical system must have indicated a failure without it showing in the maintenance. I'm not sure how that happened. I'm going to watch this much more carefully over the next few flights. It still isn't clear why multiple reinstalls in the past haven't fixed this ongoing problem - I have to try to catch this when it first occurs (if it occurs again). Fingers crossed it won't... Quote
J2theRock Posted April 23, 2019 Report Posted April 23, 2019 I had this exact problem a few weeks ago. Prop was rolling over really slow on starting. I checked the battery and it was right at the bottom of good. But I changed the battery anyway. It actually fixed the issue. Love how this plane can be temperamental. Quote
