cessna_man Posted April 12, 2019 Report Posted April 12, 2019 This has to be a bug and I hope it will get fixed. I'm new to this aircraft I just bought it yesterday. Today I was sitting on the ramp at kfmy in 84 deg F and I started getting ice on wings and windscreen. I've lived in Florida for 30 years and never saw ice in 84 deg temps other than in my drinks. turn on anti ice and ice disappears turn it back off ice starts forming again. When I shut down all systems to cold and dark ice goes away. I really do hope this issue gets fixed. Not happy being a new customer and have a problem like this. oh, I don't have any other weather plugin, I'm using default weather. Thanks, Quote
Goran_M Posted April 13, 2019 Report Posted April 13, 2019 The icing code in the TBM is simply reading what XPlane is giving. It’s not controlled by the TBM Quote
cessna_man Posted April 13, 2019 Author Report Posted April 13, 2019 (edited) I looked at the weather menu at the time and I saw no indications that would cause icing, so then, would that be a xplane bug? If so, is there a work around I can do? I'm don't know anything abouts codes and stuff so can you explain why the ice starts forming once I get power to the aircraft and when power is shut down the ice disappears from the airframe? just curious about that Edited April 13, 2019 by cessna_man Quote
Goran_M Posted April 13, 2019 Report Posted April 13, 2019 Can you attach a log file so I can see what’s going on. Found in your root X-Plane folder. Quote
cessna_man Posted April 13, 2019 Author Report Posted April 13, 2019 I opened xplane again in in the evening so I don't know if this log will help. I didn't do a flight, I was sitting on the ramp studying the aircraft and had no ice forming. Let me know if this log is ok for checking. In the mean time I will start up the sim and if iceing is present I'll send another log. Oh, and thanks for the quick response. Log.txt Quote
cessna_man Posted April 13, 2019 Author Report Posted April 13, 2019 Started a flight a few different times today and had no ice show up on wings, so Idk maybe just a fluke loading that one time. I'll keep an eye on it and if this happens again I'll post a new log. Quote
Goran_M Posted April 14, 2019 Report Posted April 14, 2019 It could very well be X-Plane doing X-Plane things. I wanted to see the log file because that could give me a clue as to what may be going on to cause the snow. Whether it's software related of hardware related. In any case, it looks as though it was a freak cold snap. Quote
cessna_man Posted April 14, 2019 Author Report Posted April 14, 2019 (edited) I did notice before loading the flight I noticed the weather to the right was showing thunderstorm and I know there was no storms. When I clicked on the customize button to see if I needed to refresh real time weather the menu showed the correct weather, so maybe xplane does have something to do with it. Although I didn't load flight yet, maybe somehow the tbm recognized it as a cold snap. Wish I noticed what the exact time was, maybe noaa was updating and xplane was loading weather at the same time. I'll keep an eye on that. Edited April 14, 2019 by cessna_man Quote
