wain Posted May 30, 2017 Report Posted May 30, 2017 So I have SMPv4.5 running with RWC set to always ignore XP11 weather, and the NOAA plugin.....is this correct to get the best from SMP? Thanks Wayne Quote
sundog Posted May 30, 2017 Report Posted May 30, 2017 I don't use the NOAA plugin, but yes that configuration should work well. Remember to set it back to "automatic" if you want to manually set up weather conditions instead. Quote
wain Posted May 30, 2017 Author Report Posted May 30, 2017 can RWC do the same as NOAA? and what in terms of sq kms should I be aiming for? I have it at 10k... Quote
sundog Posted May 30, 2017 Report Posted May 30, 2017 RWC simply transfers METAR data to SkyMaxx Pro for representation of the clouds - that's all. If you want to use NOAA for other things like winds you can still use it, but X-Plane 11 already has most of NOAA's functionality built in as I understand it. Like I said, I don't use NOAA, so others please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. 10k is pretty low for the cloud area. How high you can go depends on your system specs and what other add-ons and scenery you have installed. I'd just set up some cloudy conditions and see how high you can set it while maintaining an acceptable frame rate. Higher settings are better, especially if you fly at high altitudes. I keep mine maxed out all the way, but I have a pretty modern system. 1 Quote
wain Posted May 30, 2017 Author Report Posted May 30, 2017 great thanks for the info, I will adjust and test, will also try without NOAA as it seems not to be needed..... Quote
wain Posted May 31, 2017 Author Report Posted May 31, 2017 removed NOAA, set SMP4 to max, all seemed fine in quick test flight last night, was getting FPS mostly between 28-38 with the odd dip, this was at night and in daytime..... 2 Quote
olaf.andre.meyer@gmail.com Posted July 23, 2017 Report Posted July 23, 2017 Did not want to start another thread. I use FS Global Weather, and I can't get same cloud coverage with Sky Max Pro 4.5 as in XP weather. In hio altitude I only get broken clouds in close area around the airplane for example. Anybody have hint/tips for a working setup that look a bit more real then broken clouds around you. 1 Quote
