criley Posted July 17, 2016 Report Posted July 17, 2016 I typically fly online with a few friends. With X-Plane you need to have a separate aircraft folder for each person who wants to fly the same aircraft so that they may have different liveries and such. To do this, I typically just copy and paste the folder and then append the persons name to the end of the folder; Theirs must match mine as well. With the IXEG plane, I keep getting errors that say the following, "Detected an unsupported file path. Please make sure this aircraft is installed in.....". I should be able to organize my aircraft as I see fit and I used to be able to do that with this plane. Did the last update mess this up? Also, any more news on the latest major update? From the conference it was rumored to be shortly, but I am just trying to get a better feeling on a time frame so I can fully immerse myself in this awesome plane. Thanks. Quote
Ben Russell Posted July 17, 2016 Report Posted July 17, 2016 Folder location is enforced to keep tech support loads manageable. Technical Support consumes a large amount of time and anything we can do to streamline the process to make it consistent and enjoyable for the majority of users will be pursued. Quote

I don't fly online, but I've never heard of anyone having to do this; can you be more specific of how you're flying online and why this is necessary? Quote

It's not about having to do this, as it was the original way to fly multiplayer and you don't have to worry about poor quality CSLs as it uses the planes in your folders with the high def textures. When you fly on the same network or via port forwarding on the routers, the directory structure must be the same on all participants computers, otherwise X-Plane has its issues. So this is an X-Plane limitation. We used to use a plugin called Netflight, but ever since Skymaxx, There have been issues with Netflight and Gizmo playing nice. So had to drop Netflight. Also the connection between the routes had better performance than using the plugin. Quote
