  1. Ha, I raised that once, ESP re. Scenery, and received deafening silence, either that or lots of top secret work happening. If Xp had more market, such ideas would be practical and times sped up. I'm not watching those videos- I'm flying it. Amazing stuff :-) I have yet to make an official announcement, as it hurts me and I don't want to lose contact with you great guys- but I can't see myself going back to xplane until 10 is released :-( there, I've said it here first, coz you all mean alot to me. That explains my recent inactivity at least..
  2. You're welcome. You deserve it, the attention to detail stands out.
  3. Good post Tom, and good to hear your 3cents as an xp10 'insider' . Yes it was my own observation that more resources are needed. As u say however, the market (now) is smaller, making it a bit of a gamble if they did employ more (and even more so if you are just building planes/scenery).
  4. Is that $10 US I've won or $10 Australian? Aussie pls.
  5. Under your Name up top-right, my settings/Profile info/Member Title. Maybe that should be locked, or we vote each month on the titles to be used, movie characters or cartoons. Roary the Racing Car
  6. That's great to know Perry, that xp is so transferable. Maybe it will help your simming too
  7. I just changed it in my profile! Weird. Quick, do it yourself...
  8. Waiting for XP10, waiting...

  9. Ooh, I'm an 'Advanced Member', very posh!
  10. Hmm, our xplane10 blog has touched on this issue a fair bit, reflecting general frustration at slow 10 development, and certainly an apparent slowdown in scenery work at least. Tom's got it right, as usual, I reckon that these creations are getting so complex and involved that yeah, it takes a lot longer than people ever realised to do a good, debugged product. Just look at the CRJ. I am convinced that the really successful projects will need multi-person teams. That makes planning a real challenge. I love the constant updates from developers, appreciate their screenshots and little videos like Tom's done. I've now learnt not to get hopes up re. release date & criticise devs for missing them. YOU try it. It's better to be surprised. Besides, just forget the dates keep trying other things as a diversion like I am - Microscopy and FSX, what a great combo  I'm sure I'm annoying some of you by jumping over to FSX for a diversion. I sincerely hope my efforts assist in speeding up Xplane10 development and release, as I'll be one of the first to join the virtual queue to get it! PS I meant what I said earlier Goran, your Sundowner is leap-years ahead of my FSX Carenado Saratoga.
  11. You got first reply Kaph! Best of luck with the new site Cameron, hopefully lots of storage for freeware! The forum comes up well on the iPhone, nice and concise. Is it the same setup as the flightsimulator network? It looks exactly the same on the phone. Simon
  12. Ok their Falcon Mach 20 machine disappeared, but these experiments look incredible. Check out the alien looking big dog video after the main one ends. That spooked me out. http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/11/darpas-maple-leaf-remote-control-drone-takes-first-flight-vide/
  13. Yep, it's not bad, but level I find my own level 17 much crisper. That's a great service though. I Imagine our xplane installs if they covered the world!
  14. Totally agree Nout! I'd rather try Netherlands than more suburbs :-) Any locations you recommend downloading via G2xpl? My fat net connection makes downloading scarily easy/quick!
  15. Looking real nice, so your partnership is working well? Looks like it. if you guys can randomly generate roof types it'll be better. Plus in Oz we need an "international year of UPDATE YOUR LOCAL OPENSTREETMAP!!" I started doing my own local area, a freaking huge, imposing task..
  16. Good to see you jump on the good value bandwagon K! Both Kesomir and I have been very happy with our Nvidia cards for the last few yrs. My weedy little 560 OC 'only' has 1.28gigs and is freakishly good, so the 580 has more than enough memory and grunt! I only ask that you don't get it, so you don't totally smoke me! But I opted for a cheaper card, the right sweetspot for price/performance, so that I could upgrade again in less than a yr without guilt when even better cards come out (one of life's certainties!). Check your prices out, if the 560 or 570 is half the 580 price, do the same as me. The 560 is such a good value buy. Either way you are in for a treat! Today's cards are seriously powerful.
  17. Saw this image re. the Guyana plane crash where it broke in two with all passengers surviving. I would have needed clean jocks if I was near that split! Even the plane has an exhausted look of 'phew, that was close!'
  18. Oh god, only 512mb of VRAM?? Really, you can get a very powerful PC for those prices and easily upgradeable. If you are wealthy, get a Mac pro. Other than looks, why are you narrowing down to these models? Xp10 should make good use of a fat 1-2gig gpu, don't limit yourself.
  19. That's so sad Ola, hope you can make it, if not her beautiful life is preserved here in that lovely photograph.
  20. You making a video! Yep, but got bogged down with g2xpl, so wont be ready till the weekend. The interior is pretty special, and I like the camera presets (i would, wouldn't I !)
  21. We were contacted by Denis to do a preview with his Beta, then wham it was released! Good job Chip is pretty quick, he seems very impressed: link I'll be trying her soon.
  22. Actually, banning guns made Australia's crime rate climb almost 50% in home invasions. I forget where I read that, but it makes sense if you think about it... Perry I'm not sure what you are getting at. I don't think what happened there all that effort was in vain and Oz is a safer place I reckon (any Aussies feel free to agree/disagree, if you can do so in between running street battles..).
  23. For the good of humanity, I vow never to wear spandex/Lycra! In Victoria, we are all being encouraged to wear yellow tomorrow, to celebrate his win.
  24. Can't resist- congrats to Cadel Evans for winning the Tour de France, what a tough guy he his. He's only a 'local' too, from Geelong not far from Melbourne. Only the parade stage left tomorrow, he can lap up the atmosphere.
