Thanks John, great name BTW, I hope to refine it further. The next thing I am working is being able to animate waves. I am using Mip Maps so they will only animate during movement but the effect looks pretty good so far....
Thanks Chris! It is really just a workaround since there is no access to the SDK for water in XP. Here is a shot with the skycolors adjusted a bit more to make the water look more tropical: http://imgur.com/f5SQH Problem is all water in XP now looks like the tropics...LOL
Hey guys just a quick post, I am back at it with another freeware MAXX product. This is pre-Alpha and has a long way to go. I am hoping to bring that tropical water look into XP, somewhat LOL.... http://imgur.com/a/Q2a6U
I am helping out Peter Tram who is attempting to put together a freeware KLAX......Here are a couple of screenshots of the ortho underlay I put together for him..... OH and a shamless plug...LOL Look How UrbanMAXX Extreme integrates seamlessly into the scenery....
All three of those shots look fantastic by the way, I have seen some pictures of the Flight Alaska scenery and to be honest I am not that impressed........
Yeah I figure a few people might wonder Glaciers? Really? I look at it two ways...1.Bush flying 2. If by chance departing an airport and you catch the glacier out of the corner of your eye it adds more depth to the scenery.... And as a value add to me an exercise in using more advanced texture techniques for better results. I am still learing and many of the changes in XP10 still are not implemented or documented...... I have heard some folks complain that 10 looks very much like 9....There is some truth to that, but the underlying differences in how 10 handles scenery have the potential to completely shift the look of X-Plane... :-) (sorry I am ranting LOL)
Thanks Larry, If you look close you can see the use of specular highlights. I came across this result as mistake when trying to implement normal maps. Now that I have looked at it I think this effect is better since the normals might look too plastic........ John
