  1. Sorry, maybe I'm not explaining it well? the LOWI area being mountainous has nothing to directly to do with "Back Courses". It's just historically all LOC (Localizer) transmit anttenas had a "back beam" by accident, which at smaller airports was a cheap way of using it as an approach aid (a "back course") to the opposite runway to which the LOC or "frount couse" was assigned. these days most modern LOC antennas are directional and have very little back beam, so an't used as B/C any more. A few of the older type are still used, the missed approach at LOWI on the SPECIAL LOC DME East APPR being one. the B/C button on the CRJ just tells the A/P to couple using "reverse sensing" when your flying a back course as described in the links and post above. cessna729.
  2. Flying VOR's you would normally just turn the OBS and get the TO/FROM indicator to change. As regards the "Back Course", try a bit of light reading: http://code7700.com/back_course_localizer.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instrument_approach And this: cessna729.
  3. The navdata (in this case Navigraph 1308) provides the CRJ's FMS with information about SID's, STAR's, Approaches, Fix's, Airways, Nav-aids, and Airports, so it is not just GPS points . The X-Plane data provides information to the CRJ's raw nav instruments (NDB, VOR, DME, LOC and G/S). So depending on what modes you had the AP, FMS and the nav radios in will effect which data was being used and whether you're using default X-Plane code or Phillips clever custom plug-in code. All replys to this post to the CRJ-200 support Forum. cessna729.
  4. I think what Phillip means is if you were flying with the autopilot correctly setup in BC mode, the plane is using the default X-Plane backcourse mode. i.e. it's not using any of the CRJ's custom plugin, the "magic" part in his quote. Also your description of what you did has me scratching my head a bit??? You start by saying you wanted to do the LOC/DME Approach for 26 (Ok), then you say you want to do a B/C (??). Are you trying to fly outbound on the LOC 111.10 OEV (as described in the Missed Approach procedure shown on the chart you posted?), because if you are, tracking outbound at 19nm you will go out of range (as most X-Plane default LOC/GS have a max range of about 19nm). You sure your not getting confused with the SPECIAL LOC DME East which does have a published B/C as part of its missed approach procedure. But that is using the LOC/DME 109.70 OEJ A screen shot of the X-Plane Localmap with your path recorded would be helpful . What happens if you try and re-create and fly the same approach in one of the default X-Plane aircraft (that has a autopilot with backcourse mode)? cessna729.
  5. Do you have a link to the Instrument approach plate your trying to fly? What navdata were you using? Aerosoft NDP or Navigraph or default (as supplied with the CRJ200)? What cycle of navdata (the current cycle is 1310)? Could you attach some closeup screenshots of the legs page of the FMS and X-Planes Local map showing the path the aircraft flew. Also you may get more help over on the CRJ-200 support forum http://forums.x-pilot.com/forum/120-canadair-crj-200/ cessna729.
  6. Thanks a lot! Excellent work as usual. :D
  7. Hi Keith, sounds great, I look forward to seeing it Any chance that you could do the "Prequel" (or even a series), in which you show the Flight Planning, Perf charts, W&B, weather briefing ect that happens before the flight? With links to planning tools/en-route/approach charts ect? I think that would turn your excellent video into something extra special. cessna729.
  8. Yep! Welcome to the quirky world of AIRAC cycles and ARINC 424 navdata The following is from Navigraph web site page : FMSdata. cessna729.
  9. It's that time again!! Get it while it's hot 1308 Navigraph vasFMC Flightmanagment/JRollon Planes - native** or Aerosoft's NavDataPro from here or just click UPDATE in your NavDataPro program cessna729.
  10. Hi newmind, Your Log.txt shows that you are using a non- X-Aviation CRJ-200, you realy need to contact the supplier of your version (as X-Aviation uses a different installer etc). But as you have asked here; I've had a quick look at your Log.txt file, and it shows your trying to load and run a number of other plugins at the same time as the CRJ-200, and a number of these other plugins are generating loads of ERRORS and WARNINGS, never a good thing Back to you original problem not showing more than 4 TRANS on the OST7A SID at LIRA Rwy 15, I can confirm I see the same thing on my CRJ-200 using the latest Navigraph 1307 data I can only see the LIRA DEPART 1/1 page and cannot see any ofther remaining TRANS that are listed in the xml data. So the questions are: Are there really that many TRANS for the OST7A SID? Is the Navigraph data file formatted correctly? or is it a "bug" in the CRJ-200 causing it not to show the remaining pages?. Maybe the Devs can help you here? If it is a "malformed" navdata file, Navigraph need to be informed so they can fix it. cessna729.
  11. Hi AJ, is this the "ding" you have problems with? I think it's X-Plane 10\Aircraft\X-Aviation\BAe Jetstream 32\sounds\CUSTOM\Warning.wav, I only hear it once on initial Load of the JS-32. All switches in OFF position. If your "ding" with your batt master OFF happens every few secs, you problem may be something else cessna729.
  12. Hi Aj, Sometimes X-Plane 10 and some addon aircraft can get a bit confused if you don't go Aircraft, Open Aircraft (the default where X-Plane "spawns" the aircraft at the current airport on the "default start location"). Or if you then try and reposition the aircraft to say gate 12, or cargo ramp or Rwy 27 etc. or use any other method to "load an aircraft". The initial setting of the aircraft/X-Plane may be different (hense you may see lights flash or hear "warning dings" etc. The same sort of "mixed up settings" occours when you try selecting "Replay mode" on some addons. So try loading X-Plane 10, go Aircaft, Open Aircraft and see if you get your "The ding sound drives me nuts...". If it's not that causing your problem, try: 1. As a quick and dirty work-around, you could just back up the "ding" sould file, edit it to reduce it's volume by say 80% so it dosn't anoy so much. or.... 2. Backup and then reset your X-Plane preferences, in case something in the settings have become corrupted (as per Kris Pryo's great post's above). cessna729.
  13. newmind Posted Yesterday, 07:00 PM Please tell us which airport, SID and TRANS you are trying to enter, and the location you are when your trying to enter this into the FMS. List each key press, attaching a few screenshots would help. Also check your workflow; RTE page, ORIGIN, DEST, Origin RW or DEP page and Rwy, STAR. STAR TRANS, then RTE page 2 or LEGS page, en-route, followed by ARR page and SID, SID TRANS, APP, APP TRANS. Did you have this problem with the default navdata? has it every worked for you or has it only just started gioving you problems. If you still have problems, attach a copy of your Log.txt file and the answers to the above questions. cessna729.
  14. Any cross wind? Does it do the same " swing alot at high speed on runway" if you select CAVOK in X-Planes Environment, Same whole world settings? Can you attach some screen shots or video to show exactly what the problem is? cessna729.
  15. Hi Nicola, as requested: KSFO Rwy 28L approach in B777-200, No ILS, G/S, DME, A/T, FD, or FMS (didn't even align the ADIRU). All I did was set X-Plane to load and start 10nm Rwy 28L at KSFO). The only things I couldn't turn off were the Rwy PAPI lights. I did review the approach plates beforehand though. And I had the advantage that by letting X-Plane load at 10nm the aircraft was relatively stable at that point, so I needed to do very little to land it. cessna729.
  16. Unfortunately "CFIT" and "Short of runway" have turned up in accident reports together for many many years and in most of those reports it wasn't a technical problem that was the primary cause. cessna729.
  17. Are you using separate rudder pedals or a "twist control" on your joystick? cessna729.
  18. Have a read of this post http://forums.x-pilot.com/topic/4339-captain-i-think-i-smell-smoke/#entry44533 Sometimes just after take off, sometimes after 20 minutes. Im not running at 100%, just take off , then back to 70%. Wha am I doing wrong? Is there a cowl flap or something I need to do? High Engine Torque is not the only thing that can lead to an engine fire Or take a look in Javier's excellent Manual (see pages 27 and 28). cessna729.
  19. Something like this: Note: I deactivated Prop Sync, TTL and SRL computers first.
  20. What do you mean: "so that it lines you up for an approach and landing"? Are you saying say: your able to set up an ILS/VOR/NDB/GPS but the runway dosn't appear directly in front? We need a bit more information to be able to help. Note if you have any add-on scenery sometimes an the runway may not be alligned correctly with the X-Plane ILS etc and nothing to do with the CRJ. Have you watched JRollon's exelent turorial videos or looked at the manual? Once you have done both of those things, if you still have problems, post details of which Airports and which approach you want to set up and attach a copy of your Log.txt file, and details on which navdata your using (Navigraph of Aerosoft NDP, 1305 or 1306 or default if you havn't updated the navdata?). cessna729.
  21. What are you using to measure the fuel used? try MCDU MENU, <PLANE MENU. That will indicate BOARD FUEL (LBS) to the nearest 1LB, (the total displayed on the MFD's only shows to nearest 10LB). How long are you taxing for? whats the fuel burn when in the air? Is this problem repeatable? have you tried loading the aircraft "engines running" and "cold and dark"? ensure that X-Planes MTBF option is unchecked. Try loading a default aircraft e.g. C-172, wait for it to load, exit X-Plane. Restart X-Plane, wait for C-172 to finish loading, then load the CRJ-200, do you still have the problem. If you still have problems, try using X-Plane's SAVE replay option, zip the .rep file and attach to your next post, along with your Log.txt file. You could also use X-Planes, Settings, Data Input & Output, then Data Set to tick "disk file" and "graphical" next to each of the following datarefs: times, N1, N2, FF and fuel weights, etc. to log/display the rate of fuel being used. Does the fuel flow tie up with the reduction in the fuel left in the tanks? or have you got a leak? At 40% N1, taxying, my CRJ is burning approx 1510-25 lbs/hr each engine, that's approx 1lb/sec (total) decrease in Board Fuel (MCDU Plane Menu). cessna729.
  22. My guess is the OP was from South Korea as: All I could figure out was the OP had purchaced a CRJ-200 from X-Aviation on 12th May and was having problems of some sort. Which was why I Fwd: it here. There has not been any follow up post yet on the other forum so maybe the OP has sorted his/her/their problem? cessna729.
  23. Don't shoot the messenger, but I think this was posted on the wrong Forum? From user: road21s Original Post:
