Steffen, I started with VATSIM around the same time (by the way 2001 was 14 years ago, not 24 ). I am using VATSIM almost exclusively. I have some experience with FPI (long ago) and IVAO. Since i rarely fly in North America PilotEdge is out of my area of interest. In my very humble opinion more detailed aircraft models are simply not worth the effort. Firstly it would require a lot of time to rework existing models or create new ones from scratch. This would propably imply rework of the net-code. Secondly it seems pointless when most of the time you see MSFS piloted aircraft and more often than not airport sceneries don't match between XP and MSFS. What's the point of modelling a flap movement on a plane that's parked inside the terminal building or floating 50 feet above/below the airport surface? Not the mention VATSIM (IVAO too i think) is known for being very very restrained when it comes to introducing new ideas. It's still based on the technology of the 90s... It's great we have xsquawkbox (64-bit!) but truth is it's far from perfect. Personally i would love these to be fixed: - AMPLIFIED audio This is giving me headaches on every online flight with ATC. The volume at max level is so quiet that i have to reduce every volume setting in X-Plane sound settings to around 15% and yet if the guy on the other side doesn't have his microphone set properly i can barely hear anything. This is very different from Euroscope (ATC client) and from what i remember using SquawkBox back in FS9/FSX. To add to this you can't fix things in Windows audio mixer, because xsquawkbox is a sub-process of X-Plane itself and is not adjustable separately. The xsquawkbox voice sounds somewhat muffled in general to me. - squawk standby/mode C operation Clicking on the "Squawk standby" in xsquawkbox menu is laggy and often won't toggle transponder mode - very cumbersome and possibly dependant on the aircraft. - aircraft models lights This is the one i would like to see fixed in regards to online aircraft models The lights on other pilots aircraft are unnaturally big. Here's an apron at a distance (some static a/c there too, barely visible): If we were to discuss "bigger" changes, i would vote for: 1. 21st century voice comm 2. ICAO flightplan format (IVAO does this one right!) My five cents!

In terms of quality i would say it's close to their previous releases - 757 & 777. They certainly improved 3D cockpit and added some neat looking reflections on the inside and the outside, yet i think the cockpit is still lacking the final touch when compared to the very best out there (FJS 737, LES Saab 340). FMC includes some of the very same bugs i've seen before on the '57 (wrong ETO times, T/D miscalculations) along with some new ones (step climb problems, VNAV restrictions) Payware liveries are sadly of medium freeware quality again. The problem that i have with FlightFactor is that they don't aim for "lite" products. Instead they try to execute PMDG quality addon and then do obvious mistakes and bugs they never fix. I've made 3 complete flights (2 online) with the 767 so far and there are so many things i like about it that i'm angry it's not a little bit better and more polished Well, the wait for IXEG continues...

WARNING - Today's X-Plane Update.

Are you referring to 10.42rc1 -> 10.42 (final) patch? I'm on Windows 8.1 and everything's fine here. Any chance your problem is related to this? -
Flown Hamburg (EDDH) - Timisoara (LRTR) - Mykonos (LGMK) today on VATSIM. For the most part it was smooth, but before departing Timisoara i already noticed interesting weather conditions at Mykonos. Winds from the east at around 10-15 kts gusting up to 20-25 kts with clouds dangerously close to the MDA (Minimum Descent Altitude) for circling on VOR approach runway 34 (the one and only option under these circumstances). I opted to hand fly the VOR approach, here still in IMC conditions ... The runway appeared in front of me just 2 or 3 seconds before reaching MDA. Just when the 737 exited cumulus. Breaking off and joining right hand circuit for runway 16 (circling east of the field is prohibited anyway). It may be hard to believe, but the runway you can see in the background is only 1900 meters long... Truth is i flown the circuit too short and ended up not aligned properly with the runway. Again, there was no other option but to go around. Stayed in VMC and flown another circuit, slightly better this time. Short final runway 16: Turning around at the designated turning pad. Scary little airport i tell you

To have some fun i did a couple of takeoffs at weights close to MTOW in the -300ER having armed engine failure / fire to occur above V1 on one of the two engines. It's a pretty scary scenario when you think of it: you're still on the ground doing 176 kts when you lose one engine. Yet you have to continue takeoff because you don't have enough runway left in front of you to stop safely. Coming back to Mother Earth won't be easy neither since the airplane is over 100 TONS of fuel heavier above Maximum Landing Weight (MLW). As usual, i couldn't resist punching my PrintScrn key every once in a while

LFLB - Chambéry, France Freeware (!) scenery from xpfr.org I highly recommend to try this approach (4.46 deg GS!) in a LES Saab or FJS 737-200. ... and when you think you got the hang of it, try this: Have fun

I can't give you any numbers because i haven't flown pre-1.2 Saab in a long time. I can assure you the difference is there and it is easily noticable on my system. About 95% of my flights are within the European airspace, so having RNAV equipment installed is like difference between night and day

Yes! if you look closely you'll see all of the information being displayed on the EHSI (second screenshot)

Still beta testing. Can't wait until you guys get your hands on it. It's splendid!

How do you like it? Is it any better than their A320 in terms of flight model and/or systems simulation?
