  1. Thanks for your kind words, guys On a side note: those screenshots could have been better, but all of the above 5 flights were online (VATSIM), real-time, real weather (Noaa plugin, accurate winds aloft!) so i couldn't pause the sim or change the weather to get more satisfying results. I wonder what are the next destinations for the DHL 757 for today? Montpellier (LFMT) in the southern France? Or maybe Dublin (EIDW), the largest airport in Ireland? I really like the possibilities X-Plane brings us today (with good addons, that is).
  2. And the journey continues... BCS3084 "EUROTRANS" THREE ZERO EIGHT FOUR DEP: ULLI (Sankt-Petersburg, Russia) DEST: LOWS (Salzburg, Austria) LEVEL: FL380 ROUTE: LISNA B141 RANVA P863 RESMO N619 TIGNU B73 RANOK P861 RASAN UP861 RAK UT108 NIRGO T108 OSTES T700 SBG Commencing pushback from stand 701. Engines running, so it's time to call for "Before Taxi" checklist! Quick look at the scenery. X-Plane airport addons keep getting better and better... With favourable winds en-route, in less than two hours we fly the arrival segment into Salzburg. Long final, on the ILS runway 15. Still, this won't be a simple straight-in approach this time around. Flying special circling procedure for runway 35. Overflying Salzburg city with the airport in the background. Right base to runway 35. Vacating runway via taxiway Bravo. Another successful landing ;] This scenery has to be one of the freeware jewels. Blends nicely with HD Mesh and World2XPlane autogen. Passing over cloudy London Descending on the ILS runway 09 into Bristol. Can you spot the runway? Bristol's runway isn't a very long one. Entering the apron via last turnoff (taxiway Alpha). 4. DHL 757-200SF from Bristol, UK (EGGD) to Southampton, UK (EGHI) Short hop to enjoy great Pilot Plus sceneries for above airports, as well as great freeware UK Pro scenery by Tony. Haven't flown the FF 757 in a while and i have to admit it is surprisingly good after all those patches. The 1990s DHL livery does look cool on the 757 and kind of nostalgic, doesn't it?
  5. Single prop cessna in between cat C and D acft - a nightmare for ATC
  6. I can't really comment on the reflections, but i feel like i have to recommend the flyjsim 732 to you. Back in the FS days i used to fly complex airliners only. The likes of PMDG, LevelD etc. While X-Plane still lacks sophisticated airliners (FF, JarDesign etc. aren't close yet, sorry), surprisingly the 727 along with it's smaller brother - the 737-200 - are planes i find myself spending most of the time with. They don't do proper engine simulation (EPR) nor have any kind of RNAV equipment installed (FMS, GPS), but still do feel most complete. Just yesterday i've "lost" half an hour calculating the weights and required fuel for 727-200F before i took her from Rovaniemi, Finland [EFRO] to Szczecin, Poland [EPSC]. And it was fun! FlyJSim 727 is a fantastic plane and the 737 is even better. And they are gorgeous by the way
  7. Took the 727-200F for a 500 nm trip from Poznan, Poland [EPPO] to Tallinn, Estonia [EETN]. After a short stop, continued to Rovaniemi, Finland [EFRO]. As for the airport sceneries quality, i think X-Plane is now on par with FSX. Totally immersive for me. As for the quantity... well, Rome wasn't built in a day. For the curious: Departure from Poznan runway 28. Flown VOR-VOR. Arrival and approach into Tallinn was interesting. First a nice ARC/DME segment of arrival procedure. Then VOR approach for runway 08 and finally circle-to-land runway 26 :] Departure from Tallinn runway 28. Flown VOR-VOR. Briefed for ILS Yankee approach into Rovaniemi runway 21. Does anyone even reads this? ;] As soon as i broke out of clouds with airport situated right in front me i couldn't resist the temptation to shoot short visual approach :]
  8. Oh man, this almost burned my eyes out
  9. Beautiful, cptcaptain! One of the best edited sim shots i've seen!
  10. One thing people often forget about is the resolution of your display. What's the resolution you run X-Plane at?
  11. Being away from my simming PC i'm collecting some hardware upgrades for it. Today my new MSI GTX 980 Gaming 4G arrived, so i hopped into B1900 to test how the card handles X-Plane. Counting days until my Dell U3415W 34" 3440x1440 curved 21:9 display arrives. It is going to replace it's smaller brother Dell U2913WM 29" 2560x1080, also 21:9 aspect ratio. Eager to do some serious IFR 3D cockpit flying when my new monitor arrives. Coupled with TrackIR, the huge ultra-panoramic display (5000000+ pixels) should improve my immersion factor. At least i do hope so! ... but in the meantime on my desktop PC (slower) + Dell 3007WFPHC 30" 2560x1600 (16:10) :
  12. Thanks for the info, Jim! Was this changed in the last year or so? A while back when i first encountered this problem i'm sure i've seen some threads on the forums on this matter. With regards with what has been said above, i think i must recheck navaids range... Could it have been VOR or NDB frequency discrepancy between my charts and X-Plane navdb? I doubt it because i think i could have receive "faulty" navaid when unrealisticaly closer to it. But anyway, i'm gonna test it once again with 10.32r1 and report back.
  13. Current Jeppesen: The way X-Plane handles navaids at the moment (based on scenery tiles) is a bad joke. Being 40 nm from the navaid (flat terrain) and unable to receive it's signal can ruin IFR experience. I hope they are going to fix it at some point... My airport of choice when coding
  14. TCW445T "THOMAS COOK" FOUR FOUR FIVE TANGO DEP: EDDH (Hamburg, Germany) DEST: EFTP (Tampere, Finland) LEVEL: FL370 ROUTE: LUB9B LUB P605 GESKA N851 RIKUM Y370 UXETI N850 INSOB L87 AMUPO AMUPO1C ABOUT THE FLIGHT Checking Hamburg, Tampere and Helsinki (alternate) METARs i instantly realised this isn't going to be a boring flight. First some crazy winds at Hamburg gusting up to 38 knots. Then a couple of weather avoiding actions late in the climb. Thundstorms inside the approach area to Tampere were just cherries on the cake. Life of a pilot isn't easy when a massive front covers most of the continent. Even if a virtual one Happy to be safely on the ground, i learned to avoid CBs more carefully in the future... P.S. Anyone else enjoy taxing 65 ton airliner around the airport?
  15. NTJ811B NEXTJET EIGHT ONE ONE BRAVO DEP: EGHI (Southampton, UK) DEST: EIDW (Dublin, Ireland) LEVEL: FL200 ROUTE: DCT TABEN DCT KENET L9 STU M17 VATRY DEPARTURE First flight with the Carenado Beechcraft 1900D. First flight from Southampton. First flight into Dublin. After spending about half an hour studying charts for Southampton and Dublin, it takes me another 20 minutes in the cockpit to get everything ready for departure. In a matter of seconds, the powerful twin turboprop takes off to the sky. CRUISE Having flown out of the hazy London area, it's time to enjoy the views from 20000 feet. Some 25 minutes later the conditions become IMC again, but only for a little while. APPROACH & LANDING Busy time keeping everything right on the VATRY1X arrival. Sneaking below the clouds reveals Ireland's Eye, just when intercepting localizer for runway 28. Approach is silky smooth. Beechcraft 1900D handles very nicely. I admit the landing could have been better ;] TAXI & PARKING After rather long taxi via Bravo, Mike, Link 5 and Foxtrot Inner, we safely arrive at stand 118 S. With shutdown checklist complete there's nothing else to do, but exit the cozy cockpit. Not for long i hope!
  16. myair, is this the upcoming Tu-154 from Felis on the first shot?
