Is it possible to control the throttle with keys? The default commands do not work (for me at least) and there is no custom command as far as I can see. My throttle gear broke last week and now approaches have become almost unflyable. Any work-around? Thanks Flo

May I suggest to turn to official support first, before opening a "ripped off, how can they..." topic in a general x-plane forum. That would be more reasonable. Or, if you want to take it to the community, it would be appropriate to ask for help like "Am I missing something?". My feeling is that way too many people start complaining loudly about developers right away - before doing their own homework. Hope you get the blurryness fixed anyway. Flo

And maybe a screenshot of your nvidia driver settings too. Flo

Well, that's too much a matter of personal taste. I for one prefer a higher cloud draw distance over more cloud detail. So my first slider is pulled back to 1/4 and the second one set to 1/2. Don't go too far on this, it will really hit your performance. And i enabled the cloud shadows. The FPS-hit is low and the effect is great with broken cloud formations. But as I said... Or did you ask for overall advice on addons / plugins for X-Plane? Flo PS: If I remeber correctly the 780 is a 3GB card. If you suddenly run into serious FPS trouble you should check your VRAM usage (GPU-Z or similar). X-Plane is very VRAM hungry and once you are over the top FPS will suffer a great deal. Cutting down texture resolution (I suggest max. "very high" for a 3GB card) is the easiest way to deal with it.

Please post your skymaxx pro settings. First pictures look like your overcast setting is "low" within skymaxx. That results in a flat overcast layer like in your screenshot. Ugly but not a bug. Set it to "medium" or "high" and overcast will appear as a dense cloud layer. The overcast representation seems to be reworked from ground up in the next version (3.0) 3rd picture, best guess: You have the RTH-plugin installed or any other art controls manipulation (lua scripts). To me it looks like some crazy scattering/HDR gain settings. Try to disable those plugins and see what happens. (Might be a video driver bug too. Check for updates.) With skymaxx you need to take some time to set it up. After a while you will find settings that suit your preferences. It's not perfect, though. Flo

I would turn down water reflections, they hit the CPU pretty bad on my system. A screenshot of NVIDIA settings would be helpful too, a lot can be messed up there. Just to make sure: No power saving modes active? Power supply and cooling sufficient? Cheers Flo

Is it possible to hack into the quick looks in order to set transition time to 0? I really like the quick looks (don't want to go for another plugin with tons of complicated settings) - but on a big screen the transition can give you headaches and awful screen tearing. Ideas? Thanks Flo

X-Plane 10.40 Beta 1 is up. A heads up for everybody interested in testing. Warning: An early beta with lots of bugs! Cheers Flo

REX is NOT available for XP10. Skymaxx Pro is the way to go if you want to improve the visuals of the clouds and add special effects. Flo

Just a heads up: FMS is nearing completion, feature list (custom systems) is updated. http://rotatesim.com/ Best Flo

What about AA in HDR mode with a 4k monitor? I assume even a highend GPU can't use more than FXAA+2xSSAA without dropping FPS under 30? What are you guys using? Flo

Very good, congratulations! Music is to the point. I'm no video guy but I think if you start with open door, preflight check and annotations it would be nice and somewhat more convincing to have annotations during flight too and also see the taxiing to the apron and engine shutdown. Keep it up Flo

Welcome to XP, Richard. The most obvious advantage of HDR is that it will give you massive real time lighting at airports without much of a performance hit. Most airports will be mostly dark at night without HDR turned on. In general the lighting with HDR is more complex and allows for some special effects (doesn't mean it looks better in any [edit: every] case). HDR is generally meant to be the choice for XP10. Most obvious downside is that HDR does not work well with MSAA and thus needs SSAA for a high quality antialiasing. And SSAA really hits the GPU. So turning off HDR means jumping to the faster MSAA and hence you recover FPS (HDR itself is not the point). My guess is that you have some options enabled in Skymaxx that hit the GPU. You might want to post a screenshot of your skymaxx settings. To make up for a possible GPU hit you might also want to try to dial back your AA to FXAA+4xSSAA. Regards Flo

Goran said by the middle of the year - IF everything goes well. Taking into account that never ever everything goes well I assume we should be happy to have it in our hands by the end of this year. At least I would be. Flo

NVI is of no use for XPlane, but yes. Without NVI it would be the NVIDIA settings. F.

I doubt a gtx750ti can handle 4xSSAA at hd resolution. But give it a try. What you see is perfectly normal. Try not to focus on it (unless you want to buy a new GPU anyway). If you do focus on it it will drive you crazy. To avoid screen tearing you have to enable vsync in your driver settings. Flo

Fantastic. Thanks for the heads-up. Flo Edit: It's windows-only for now. -
There is nothing special about X-Plane when it comes to hardware. It's important to have a sytem that is well balanced. Having a high end gpu will be of little use when combined with a best price CPU and vice versa. Going for a today's standard gamer-PC will do in most cases. No need for custom builds. Some hints, though: - You will want a 64 bit OS (windows or mac) - at least 8GB of Ram. - 2GB of VRAM is also required as a minimum IMHO. - Hyperthreading is of no use at all. - Go for Nvidia and Intel (quadcore, high clock speed) Flo

A screenshot would be very helpful to answer this. Flo

Thanks Jim, I guess the human eye adjusts different / better to the light/darkness than a camera does, especially when staring at a specific item. Beeing able to feel the switches probably helpes a lot in the real world too. Damn, I can't even find the knobs on the glareshield to adjust the lights But good to know that the test pilots didn't complain. So I will just fiddle my way and try to feel very much like a real world pilot Happy new year to the LES team. Still lovin' the saab and hardly ever flying something else. Flo

At night I need to switch on the main dome light or use the flashlight to navigate in the cockpit. Parts of the pit are pitch black (glareshield, center pedestal,...) except for the labels. I already fiddle (PITA!) the adjustable spotlights to light up the most important parts...but I would think with the EFIS screens turned on, overhead lights turned on, instrument lights turned on...there should be enough light to eventually see all switches and buttons without the need for the domelight or the flashlight. The domelight is way too bright during operations Where is the question? Here: 1. What is it like in the real plane? 2. Is this what other users see too or is it my setup / monitor bad eyesight/whatever (already played with monitor settings, gamma settings etc. - without success) 3. Any smart way to have some more light at night in the cockpit? Thanks Flo

Some objects of 3rd party libraries have a strange blue glow at night. Any way to fix this except removing them? Thanks for help or insight Flo

Amazing, thanks for this!!! As I've seen it with the cessna citation...are the radio memory/store functions also fixed in the saab update? Cheers Flo
