  1. Thanks Tom. You know, I will not share my frustration for not flying MU2-V1.5, I will share my joy of flying V1.1.1. I love your aircraft, that's the problem, because I so want to enjoy an even better version of it. I know you are doing your best in an awkward environment. I realize that deploying a red carpet for msfs customers is a great way to increase your customer base and allow you to develop some great projects with the assurance of bringing home the bacon. I just hope this will not be done at the expense of current supporting customers and XP enthusiasts. But I will gladly trust you on this one. What can I say, I guess I will give msflight a good try in the mean time (ok, ok, just kidding here :-) ) E.
  2. Cameron. Point taken. I was so certain that the update was due any week now that I lost my temper with Tom's latest post. I just want to clarify a few things : I do love that thread about the state of things, as you can tell from all the posts I made, that are most of the time very supportive of Tom's work and efforts. That's the side-effects of communicating to a crowd of human beings : you get human emotions in return, laughter, support, praises but also sometimes anger or frustration. However, what you say (cf. quote) is not true, it was not following this topic that I learned about the free update, it was by reading your announcement (advertisement) for the Moo, end of last year. True, I've been wanting the MU-2 for a long time, and when you gave it out with a 50% discount it was the right time for me to buy it. But, the other reason I bought it was the promise of the great update to come. That is when I started to follow the topic. So, sure, the update is FREE as you say, but you also used that free update as a commercial argument to have people buy a payware aircraft. Therefore the implicit argument "it is free so don't complain" is not valid here. But well, let's close this argument, I will keep supporting Tom, I will still talk highly of his aircraft on other forums whenever I have the occasion, and I will still tell potential msfs refugees that to the XP community they are more than customers. Keep up the good work, Tom and Cameron, and thank you. E.
  3. Hi Cameron. I get your point absolutely. just understand my position : not so long ago, all that needed to be done left was writing the manual. Now all of a sudden it has blatant issues. Some time ago this was developed as an update for a XP9 aircraft, nearing completion, all of a sudden it is held back because it became an XP10 product with issues. All that is great, it all happens for good reasons, but it is still very frustrating and I wish you'd understand that. I am not complaining here. Still, a separate release of XP9 and XP10 seems a viable option to consider. Sincerely yours, E.
  4. Hmmm, so this is both very good news and very bad news, I suppose. We just have to wait another year but by then we will get a more than awesome aircraft. 2 issues though : in the mean time we still have to squint our eyes to set the barometric pressure, and in a year (or whatever how long it takes) XP will have evolved and more adjustments will be required to make this the perfect aircraft, and a longer wait for us. I understand how reluctant you may be to release a product that does not meet your standards, but you do need to draw a line and decide when and what to release. Your dedication sure honors you, it is the proof that you don't do that just for money, but a lot of people out there are growing more and more frustrated with the promise of a release that never comes true. Why don't you release that 95% aircraft as it is, as version V1.5 for our enjoyment and add the extra 5% plus benefits in a future release (like pay-for-upgrade V2). It will still be an improvement over the current version and will keep us busy flying instead of nagging you on this forum, while you peacefully work on V2. E.
  5. Well, at least 56 trials at it, the 57th would be the right one to hit the shelves...
  6. Hmmm, disapointing, i'd say. I'd imagined something more reminiscent of their products. http://foodsmartworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Heinz_Baked_Beanz_425_gram.jpg Maybe I will indulge in making a proper heinz livery, in a distant future though... E.
  7. Hey Tom. Glad to hear from you. I know what you mean with stuff piling up, i have the same problem to deal with here. And as you know, tax day is is two weeks, and as a non-resident-legal-alien they are even more complicate to fill out. As far as I am concerned, you are on official leave from Moo duty until you defeat "ayaress", the inter-galactic arch-enemy of mankind By the way, I just have to ask, was one of your secret laminar projects having anything to do with that Vertical "brain-in-a-plane" Power thing Austin was so proud to present ? E.
  8. And another week without news from our space hero. Could he have gotten trapped in the alpha-delta quadrant by heinous emperor èç@+}$µurk ? Are we forever alone now, stranded on this piece of rock, forever circling our single fading star, at the mercy of deep space invaders ? Will SpaceTom ever return ? Are we forever deprived of seeing his blazing silver Space Marquise and the full glorious light of its two quark-ion engines ? E.
  9. Still no news. My guess is that Tom donned his Superman costume and went off to save mankind/the world/the galaxy/the universe, unbeknownst to us, puny ungrateful humans who won't say anything other than "any updates on the update ?" It's a hard life to be a super hero. T.
  10. Thursday is getting old. Guess what Tom did today : 1) Repaired the water pipes that burst in his house today. Which ? All of them ! The same exact minute ! Plus a gas pipe, for good measures ! 2) Has been miserable all day recovering from a severe hangover from a wild party last night ? Well, good for him, I guess. 3) Helped his neighbour's kid redo a math homework after the dog ate the first one. 4) Fought the evil forces of the universe in an epic battle, involving death rays, proton beams and a black hole going supernova (yes, he is THAT good) 5) Worked on the MU-2, finished version 2.7, wrote an aeronautics encyclopedia and then lifted a car to save a puppy trapped under it (he IS that good) 6) Just said "F**K ALL" and spent the day in slippers and in his backyard, having bears and bbq, enjoying sun and fresh air and a pile of comic books. Or maybe all of the above in one day ? HE IS THAT GOOD, I'm telling you. E.
  11. Patience is the wisdom of the young. Truly the most important quality for man... with 3D modeling of course. E.
  12. Friday is Moo day, right ? Are there news worth sharing on this beautiful Moo day ?
  13. I bet you wish you could do all that in a beloved MU-2... with a fully loaded minibar . I sincerely wish you can soon go back to a normal life. E.
  14. Yup, and a minibar with functional ice cubes machine, many thanks. E.
  15. Ha ha, I have no idea what is going on, but It seems to be working out great. An ever better MU2 two minutes before release... Thanks Tom & Jack ! E.
  16. Hurray, that's wonderful to hear. I am glad to soon be flying in a greatly improved aircraft, and I am so glad it is one you will be proud to see flying out there. Thank you so much for all your efforts. Can't wait to try it out. And I promise I will read the manual first, from cover to cover. I always do.
  17. Soooo, tomorrow is Friday, I guess tomorrow is Moo day ? You know what, guys ? The update is very close now. Very very close. Very very very close. Will Tom raise me another "very" ? E.
  18. Hi Tom. I had no idea you had so many projects on at the same time. I thought you were making a whole saga out of the Moo's manual :-) Just out of curiosity, what are the other projects ? If they are also XPlane related, that's a promise of great add-ons to come, right ? E.
  19. OMG, this waiting is just killing me. I think I refresh this page 154 times a day on average.
  20. Hey Tom. If you need any help with that process, I am an avid reader of manuals, I must say I really enjoy reading the manual from cover to cover of any plane I get before flying it. It's a bit like opening your christmas present, veeeery slowly, neatly folding the unspoiled wrapping before opening the box. Well, if you need a beta-tester, proof-reader, typo-spotter for the manual, count me in. E.
  21. I know what you mean, I had to restrain myself, this whole last week, from asking hourly status updates from Tom Kyler. I guess we all become That Guy at some point or another E. p.s. You should not joke about those things, you know, a stubbed toe is a very serious condition. In a manner similar to the so-called butterfly effect, a stubbed toe in Europe can result in an epidemic of explosive gaseous gangrene in Australia. Thanks to your good doctors, Kylie Minogue is still around Oh, wait.....
  22. Thanks for the offer. I had that incomparable British experience once, a long time ago, after i deeply cut both hands on broken glass. I don't know if it was because of all the blood dripping on to the floor but I was admitted pretty fast (only one hour if I remember correctly). Anyway, even though I now live in the US I am French, so I already know a lot about the seat-here-for-5-hours-while-you-suffer-but-hey-it's-free. I remember this placard they had in waiting rooms some years ago : the slogan said : "you are waiting because while you are in here we are at the massage salon", below that you had a photo of a guy performing PCR, best known in France by the name of cardiac massage. Humour is almost always the best way to prove your point :-) E.
  23. Dear Jan. Can you please stop posting such videos ? I am in ER right now, and I just heard my surgeon order a Rolex over the phone. Here is what happened : 0:00 : beginning of the video. 0:26 : my lower jaw slammed violently against the desktop : cracked bone and three teeth awol 0:41 : fell off my chair, broken hip and twisted wrist 0:48 : something in my brainstem snapped, now one leg thinks it is Patrick Duffy (try walking with that AND a broken hip) 1:02 : my eyeballs caught up on fire, severe third degree burn, may see again in 6 months. Yes, put plainly : awesomeness can be bad for you. Thank you. E.
  24. Hi. Thank you Steven. Indeed, I thought that there had to be a custom toggle to assign to reverse (much like the default . ) but I know from his posts that Tom wants to find a way around that, and I totally agree with the idea. Unfortunately I do not have a quadrant yet (soon I hope), but I make do with an X52 for now. As for roll trim, I have it assigned to a hat, and I only press very gently. The moo is not the only plane with very sensitive trim input, so I do have some practice in that domain, but it is the only one that requires so much roll trim around crucial times. With those very sensitive adjustments of trim, you have to devote a larger part of your multitasking brain to it. If the input was not that sensitive, you could actuate the trim with putting less thought into it. Hence my wish for a way to modulate said sensitivity. E.
  25. Sooooo, what shall it be ? An XP9 only Moo in a day or two, or an XPX compatible Moo in a day or two ;-) ? Out of excitement with the anticipation, I spent my whole week-end flying around in the beautiful MU-2. Using throttle hardware, I couldn't figure out how to set engines to reverse. Thankfully, overheating brake failures are not yet simulated. One thing I should mention is that using hardware for propeller control is also tricky in its current state : it will not go lower than taxi, and at its lowest setting the engines will yield 20% RPM with throttle at ground idle. I had to move prop levers a notch forward with the mouse to jump to the nominal 70% RPM. I hope that whatever solution you find for hardware throttles in V1.5 will work for prop control as well, otherwise I may have just delayed release by another week or two. Some fans out there are going to kill me. Another quick question, as you know one has to spend half of his time trimming the plane on take-off and approaches : is there a way (planemaker, maybe ?) to adjust the sensitivity of roll trims ? Right now, a single press of the trim button will send the plane rocking to one side or the other. I wish I could achieve a much finer control. Any comments on that ? Thank you Tom for your hard work, I hope you have a pleasant holiday programmed for after the release. E.
