  1. I just did the latest X-Plane update to version 9.61rc2.  I deleted my preferences and then ran a batch update in Airfoil Maker like Austin recommended.  I'm actually seeing BETTER frame rates than rc1.  Also, I've played with the pixel shader thing.  With all pixel shading turned off my frame rates almost double.  Thanks for that reminder!

  2. I changed the tail number in the Sundowner and I assume I will do the same with the Duchess.  Go to the objects folder in your Duchess folder.  Open up the intruments.png file and you will see the tail number panels.  Use Photoshop or some other image editing software to change the tail number.  Find a similar font and you should have no problem changing the number.  You'll have to repeat the process for the other stock livery if you want to change that number, too.  If you want more detailed instructions, drop me a line.

  3. A few Air Northwest pilots did a flight on NetFlight yesterday in our new Alaskan Air Service DHC-3 Otter.  Had a good time even though the weather was not great for flying.  Then again, that's the way Alaskan flying is.  Here are a few screenshots from our flight.  The Alaskan Air Service is a subsidiary of Air Northwest Virtual Airlines.  Check us out at www.airnorthwest.org

  4. Goran,

The nose wheel not touching the ground issue only occurs when using ChaseViewDeluxe.  It is not apparent in the standard chase (A) view.  In fact, you can actually make it look like none of the wheels are touching when using ChaseViewDeluxe.  I'll post screenshots if you want.

Well, I'm editing this post because I just moved the Duchess to my home airport at KBZN.  In the standard chase view the nose wheel is not touching the ground.  The main gear tires look like they are bearing weight.

Interesting issue.  Not one that really bothers me, but it is definitely an issue.

  5. Thanks for the compliment, Scott.  She flies pretty true to life.  I think they've done a great job with the flight characteristics.  You'd be better judge than I since you actually fly one.  All I can say is that she's worth the investment! And fun to fly!

  6. I've got tons of screenshots of the Sundowner.  You could say I'm a bit obsessive about taking screenshots.  I'll do some more editing and get some more posted.  I really do love this plane and I'm excited to get the update.  I've never had more fun flying a GA plane than this one.  Can't wait to get my hands on your new stuff, too! Thank you for all the work you put into your aircraft!

Thanks for the compliment, Rush.  You gotta love Leading Edge!

  7. The only experience I have with Carenado is the Aviator90 videos by Chris Palmer.  I have enjoyed what I have seen of the aircraft in his videos and have longed for better textures and realism.  I've never actually flown any of the Carenado products because I fly on my Mac.  I own FSX but have never flown it.  Most of the aircraft I have flown have been Riviere, Heinz, AeroPedro, Jacques Brault and other stuff from the org and anywhere else I've been able to find acceptable aircraft.  Suffice it to say, there is NOOO comparison with the Sundowner, Falco, MU-2 or any of the great payware from the guys here.  I am a relative newcomer to X-Plane, but I have well over 1300 hours and I am becoming more and more picky about what I fly.  I am more than willing to pay for quality aircraft.  My first investments in payware were Jason Chandler's Pipers, Cessna, Cirrus and Beechcraft planes.  I've logged a lot of flight time in my PA44-180 and look forward to more. And Jason is a fellow Montanan!

The fact that a developer of Carenado's stature is coming to X-Plane is truly great news!

  8. Just took another look at the Carenado website.  I'm drooling....big time!  I have most of the payware aircraft offered by the authors on this forum and I love them all.  I will certainly continue to support them by purchasing their new offerings, but Carenado is a welcome addition to these quality aircraft offerings for X-Plane.  I can't wait to fill the holes in my hangar with some of the Carenado offerings!  Only bad thing about this news is it just makes me all the more antsy to get my hands on the new Beechcraft Duchess, the G36 and of course the Saab 340!
