2) atc is wronge My ATC is sometimes "wrong", but it's never "wronge" Sorry for saying , I cannot see any fun in making a laugh about mis-writings due lack of knowledge about the english language or just being a bad typist. Forums like this have visitors trying to express themselves in a language wich is not native. That can be quiet funny ( take my own "Duglish" ) nevertheless its not something to make fun about. Cheers Leen

Amen to that Andy. Brilliant !! They name it normals , I think its not normal , its magic. Andreas, I really think Goran should ask for your normals , to be used in a future update/upgrade of this plane. This is ultimate artwork. Best normals I have ever seen !!!!!

No the guy did not even answer my mail. No big deal. Thanks for the compliment

File Name: Buffalo C-GPNR DC3 / C47 File Submitter: Leen de Jager File Submitted: 19 Jun 2013 File Category: Vintage X-Plane Version(s): X-Plane 9 & 10 Livery For: Click Here For Aircraft Buffalo C-GPNR ("Buffalo-Joe" McBryan`s favorit plane) for the LES DC3/C47 Probably the most famous flying C47 these days, we even can say she is a movie-star. Making a repaint wich already exists is always tricky , people start to compare and gues which one is the best. Be assured I do not like to see it as a competition. Even more tricky is making a repaint based on a default livery wich comes with the aircraft , Normally I do not make paints on request , let alone ,one based on an existing defeault livery.. For this "movie-star" I am happy to make an exception. Taking the default LES DC3 in its default Buffalo livery to start with was quiet logic. In the end not much of this original livery has left the way it was , shapes were changed , text reshaped and logos reversed. Neverteless there are some lines and shapes wich I did not enterely by myself. My main goal was to reproduce a C-GPNR wich comes as close to reality as I am abble to make it. Big problem is the fact the plane changed its looks so many times ( as all pretty girls do ) , its hard to tell exactly how and what. Outside made close to reality. Cockpit colors giving a C-GPNR experience. Cabin ,giving a Buffalo-Air feeling. I hope you`ll enjoy this flying legend. Leen de Jager http://www.flybike-paints.nl Click here to download this file

Hi John, For questions about the ATR project and its liveries you really must contact McPhatstudios. I have been working and developing for McPhatstudios several times as a free-lance-advisory . Did also some quality-control on the ATR-project. Actually I am not a team-member nor a spokesman for McPhatstudios. Leen ( pronounce as Lane )

I think you`re quiet right there Ola. The resolution is high 4096x4096 , nevertheles the definition is low. Its just an enlarged version of the 2048x2048 version. Its logic to think that will result in a model showing the same in the sim in both resolutions. BUT thats not the fact it even shows worse. I have to explain that with a little example. Try this. Make a texture 100x100 and draw a single line on it ( without antialiasing) , you`ll have a straight line of exact one pixel wide. Now enlage this texture to 200x200 and see what happens. Your sharp one pixel wide line show up as a THREE pixel wide vage line , one sharp one in the middle and two lighter ones. When such thing happens on a paint for a plane this line will show vage, lighter in color and wider then the same used with the low res sheet. An antialiased three pixels wide diagonal line on the 2048 version will and up as an EIGHT !!! pixel wide line on the 4096 version. In other words enlarging a picture (ANY picture) degrades its quality , the same goes for shrinking a texture. Try shrinking a one pixel wide red line , shrinked it will be less red and still one pixel wide naturally. Offering a set of textures wich simply has been enlaged , advertising it as a high resolution textureset is mere nonsense. OK you can add text, logos, signs etc to it in a high resolution , the base texture still is garbage. ( as I explaned even giving a lower result than the low res texure-set. The fact we can make slim platelines showing like real platelines instead of finger-wide grooves is simply ignored. And yes , a simple set of "blanks" has not much to do with a decent paintkit. A real paint kit has layers and should enable us to regulate the intensety and sharpness op lines, dirt , remove and relocate things like signs, hatches etc. Many developers have still a lot to learn about the whereabouts of (re-) painting. Leen PS Making a complete new paintkit (with speculars and normals) in a higher resolution takes more time than making dozens of liveries , I experienced at McPhatstudios. This implicates offering us real high res textures/paintkits means a huge investment in time/money for a developer. I really do not think we can expect a developer doing that for us without an extra fee. Better said I really think there are to few painters willing to pay extra just for the sake of some additional liveries. AND every painter is free to do that job himself. In future I expect all main texturesets to be developed in 4K.

Thats a good idea. I just mailed DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE Rod McBryan Really hope he`s willing to help me.

I need some help. This picture is showing a blue and white propellor-logo. To low resolution to use. Any idea wich company this logo stands for? http://www.netairspace.com/pic/2/full.jpg?uq=0001&count=no

Still a lot to do , nevertheless going steady. There is not much left of the default Buffalo.

Thanks for the compliments. It isn`t that black and white Eaglewing. This aircraft has been painted and stickered so many times , is hard to say what is actual and what not Before starting this version I searched the internet, there I found various pictures showing the PNR having that Ice Pilots logo. Only on the left side of the fuselage and many times not at all. Nevertheles I has been there for sure. Wings most of the times have green wingtips on the upper suface of the wing. BUT the underside sometimes is completely green having registration and Buffalo text. Sometimes just green tips and just a registration. Sometimes with aluminium leading edges on the wings, sometimes painted black ( yes just painted, no rubber sleeves) @ Gjalp. I do NOT make a paint quickly. Till now I spent only two hours on it ,using at least one hour searching the net for information prior to the job. I have made many liveries for this bird and all textures (layersheets) are available for a second use. This livery will have a grey panel in a green cockpit ( like the original PNR has) , no need to make that either.( it only needs some coloradjustment ) I made that one for the A65-114 earlier. So far I did not paint a thing (except for two thin black lines) just used the default Buffalo and did just some cut and paste from "texturefiles from the shelf".
