Looking for a Bell Huey or other nice payware Heli
Hueyman replied to FlightSimElectronics's topic in General Discussion
lol ok I give up. Everyone is free to say that a helicopter is accurate or not. But in that case, the comparison should be done in same configuration. A real helicopter is not controlled by a Futaba or a Graupner, but with big size stick and pedals.. It's like if test pilots would test new heli, sitting in their armchair and piloting them with the mouse .. Also, I consider that almost all videos of BK 117 Flyers in X-Plane that I've seen on youtube are made by people who don't really know how to pilot a helicopters, manoeuvers are approximative, the precision is not there .. So I'm assuming that BK117 pilots ( in XP ) are pilots who occasionally fly helos and who love beautiful 3D cockpit with loads of buttons and switches, but who certainly don't get right how a helicopter should be handled. I stop the discussion here, let's wait for a Huey. -

Lol , no I mainly fly a Small C 152, but I hover about 20 min a R-44 , doing small translations and land it near the hangar. I've also did cruis flight in a R-22 and a backward autorotation in a Bell 47 ( very impressive rate of descent ! ) thend land it with a " running landing " on the goodgrass. And I know how fly a helicopter, different forces that applies on it etc.. Obviously, I haven't the money to pass my PPL(H) at 17 Years old, this is why I'll try the Army in two years. If you want to make the 206 easier for you, play with the art stability on X-Plane joystick menu and in PM. If you suffer from flying the 206, you'll Fall from high when the R-22 will come out.. Keep practicing, try to built a custom stick, with long shaft to have a more real travel and so, a precise control over the neutral. -

Yes Nicolas, I'm Caliber5verM on the org forums. Yes Brett's make me VI for another subject .. no comment ( http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=49960 ) SAS On or Off, the Flight Model don't c'hange a lot, Nils is certainly a wonderful 3D artist and system programmers, but I guess he never flew Helicopters, it's very complex machines, some effect are common to all helicopters. The torque reaction is a bit less pronounced that a real heli and the ETL dip is way more pronounced, it's a real effect but exagerated in X-Plane. I'm also Valentin, it's me who make the quick review of Alfredo's 206 on fabulous XP10 Blog : http://xplane10.wordpress.com/2011/06/05/an-xp10reviews-quick-look-dreamfoil-creations-bell-206-jetranger-iii/ For everyone who found the 206 too much " Twichy " simply go to Plane Maker, then Experrt>Helo - Vtol Control - and adjust the " Flapping Hinge Arm from axis " control, this will make the control authority over cyclic more or less important, make test and adjustements, my actual value is : 000.35 Ft So, I eagerly waiting for a Vietnam era Bell UH-1H or UH-1 B Huey from those 60's, I can tell you than if we want a top notch helicopter, with the most accurate sounds, flight model, 3D, systems simulation etc, we just have to wait that DreamFoil ( Alfredo Fernandes ) do one .. After his R-22, his next project is a Schweizer 300 CBi, then ... no it's a secret for the moment Cheers . -

Lol I'm the beta tester of the Alfredo's R-22 and I can tell you it is not ready, minimum one-two months. But it will be one of the best chopper, way more difficult to fly than his Jet Ranger ( so, people said the 206 is unflyable really should considering flying real helis, and not the BK 117 with his loads of artificial stabilites, the R22 is a very light, so low inertia helicopter, very sharp on controls .. For all serious heli simmers, you should check this website : http://www.dynamicflight.com/ to know how really a helicopter fly, then you'll better understand how to control it and what to do on controls to do steady flights, perfect smooth landing etc.. The rotary wing world is not easy, all action on any control require compensation on a other .. But men, I can assure you, when your brain got it, it's a real pleasure to fly something hard and to do smooth maneuvers and real world operations.. -

I can't understand why everyone ommit about the Dreamfoil's 206, one of the best chopper aviable .. About the UH-1 Huey, I'm one of those who want it, at any cost ( Vietnam War Era ) I've started a topic there, my user name is " caliber5verm " ( http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=48423 ) I never understand why every dev choose last generation helicopter, with glass cockpit etc .. the Huey is the most iconic helicopter in the world, every heli pilot should have at least heard about it ... -
Thanks ! , It's not that I can't afford a new one but you know, I'm only 16 years old, So I try to don't spend all my pockey money into it, I have the school, the youth life, the guitar the aircraft training on the small 152 etc.. anyway, it's my life, but If one day I could afford a High End machine, Il'l do it right away, to get the best of this CRJ and the incoming X-Plane 10. Thanks for taking time to your customers, long life X-Aviation. Have a nice day.

Well, I know my 2009 Laptop isn't the last killing machine, but That's ok for X-Plane medium setting. Here are my specs : System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 8/29/2011, 22:36:58 Machine name: PC-DE-PHANIE Operating System: Windows Vista™ Édition Familiale Premium (6.0, Build 6002) Service Pack 2 (6002.vistasp2_gdr.101014-0432) Language: French (Regional Setting: French) System Manufacturer: Dell Inc. Be careful, the paint is fresh !! No really, It's weird, I can't change Livery on the CRJ or any other ACF which use Gizmo ( the Dash Q 400 as well ) and after using the CRJ, any others ACF got troubles .. Thanks for your support, I appreciate it, in this point, you beat the org, way more !
-
Hello, I'm sorry, I don't know if Gizmo is used in this wonder, but Gizmo f**cks everything up in my X-Plane ... I can't change livery without have issues like only seeing two engines, or all white ACF, or other things .. You'll tell me it's because of my CG or CG Drivers, but without Gizmo, all Works Perfectly.. If I want to change livery, my only way is to do it via Plane Maker.. not quick, when I do it the normal way; X-Plane crash , CTD or invisible plane ( only some parts ) Please help me, Thanks ;-) Except that, I really spend many happy hours with it !
-
Yes I understand, even if you have god's skills, you stay humans, so need vacations, nothing more normal ;-) But what is your opinion about this ACF, the PC6 ?
-
Hello, don't want to change the next side projects at all, as I think I'll love anythink you release, especially the DC-3 .. But I imagin a Pilatus PC-6 of your quality level, with something like a plugin to drop sky divers .. that would be excellent with the advanced X-Plane physics over FS physics, chutists would be dropped at a position which take wind speed and clouds hole into account, that would be very exciting ! Cheers, Valentin
-
Yes ! My mother does sky diving and the sky dive club got two planes, a Pilatus PC-6 and a De Havilland DHC-6-200 Twin Otter ( a version with long nose and 4 bladed props ) It's this one : http://www.airliners.net/photo/De-Havilland-Canada/1940912/L/&sid=ecde316a00fcf2760a63de1623454d24 As I will pass my PPL(A) exam in a couple of months, and with 36 Hours in a small Cessna 152,the pilot allow me to get in and left me the controls during all the ascent and descent, it was so nice .. climb at 1000 FPM, 85 Knots, with 20 Chutist behind you, then drop them and descent at 140 Knots, near the VNE, at -4000 FPM.. all the airframes shakes it was so impressive .. when I've landed ( it was " strange " for me because the airplane is more elevated than a 152 on the runway, it's strange the first time ) he mannaged to apply some reversers and the planes stops after some meters on the runway, after taxiing, he applies reversers to get back near the fuel pumps .. It was a magic moment, Immediately after that, I imagined that got a CPL and doing that kind of stuff would be fun, and I immediately check on the internet if a Twin Otter does exist for X-Plane and I see this one .. Please, do a high quality ACF as high quality as the Duchess, with a Turbine management like the real one, it would be so nice and would remember me those magic moments ... Best regards, Valentin.

Ok thanks !

I'm very interested in this project, way more than the Saab. I've bought my first " LES Aircraft " some days ago, and I was so impressed, I would love to see an iconic plane such as the DC-3 in X-Plane skies .. Do you know when could we expect a release ? After the Saab is released ? Cheers, Valentin.
-
Hello guys, thanks for the answer, just sent you a PM Steven.
-
Ok that's more clear for me now ;-) Do you know where I could finf liveries ? I see a beautiful blue one somewhere !
-
Hello, thanks for the explanation. There is something I got trouble with. IF the part of the blade ( As a PPL student pilot, the pitch is given for a blade for a point that is located at 70 % of the blade lenght, from the blade root to the edge ). So, if at this location ( 70% of the blade lenght ) , the pitch is 90 ° from the plane of rotation, with the twist of the blade, one part will have more pitch and the other less pitch. The aerodynamic forces that applying to it result that the blade will not turn in any direction, clockwise or counter clockwise , because each forces cancel the others, do you follow me ? So, if the prop would be REALLY feathered, if the prop is stopped ( like the real one in the video , not the actual X-Plane version ) even with full mixture, the engine would NEVER start again, cause the initial mouvement can't be done only by windmilling, you'll have to press the starter a bit until the explosion is done. This video of B-25 prove it, the pilot apply full mixture, then press the start a bit and imediately pushing pitch control all the way on so, the starter just help to do the initial mouvement of the prop and the flat pitch produce windmilling which help the prop to take RPM. It depends on ACF, prop airfoil and relatice wind, for this example, both prop are Hamilton Standart, and on this DC-3,the prop start turning by itself only with windmilling when the pitch was changed : And also on that Seminole, the pilot even don't pull back mixture, just reduce throttle then pull the prop control all the way down, then restart without starter, just push the prop control . So, if the prop have really 90 ° when feathered, the RPM should be very low, if I cut the mixture off, the engine would stall and would NEVER start again if I apply mixture, it would start if I set a low pitch ( which is nearly impossible on a constant speed prop cause the governor need engine oil press to move ) so it would need a bit of starter. I tried to set min pitch and feather pitch to 90 ° in Plane Maker, and the prop STOP ! but I had to select the " Manual Pitch Prop " instead of Constant Speed, so it's a problem with the governor parameters, it doesn't allow the pitch to go to 90°, maybe it stay at 70 or 60° ( about ) So, I hope to explained that as best as I can, I know my language is very poor but I'm french, and only 16 years old ! regards, Valentin.
-
Hello So,it's the 3D animation of the prop which not follow the plane maker prop pitch change ? Cause they can be feathered : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGfR9BpmRDs And when I cut the mixture back with the extreme low pitch ( feather iF i understand well ), the prop continue windmilling.
-
Hello, I've tried to voluntary kill an engine in flight and then set the prop to feather position but nothing happen, the prop continue Windmilling and the pitch is visually like it is in normal configuration. I run the 1.1 version. Thanks

Yes I heard about the 340 but you know, I just start to being bored of those regional turbo prop or jet, I already have the Q 400, the CRJ 200, both RJ's and the ERJ 140 so, I 'm used with FMC's and new generation avionic. It's for that reason when I saw the start of the mythic DC-3 on X-Plane 10 blog, I just jumped over my chair ! I also would like to see more utility ACF in the time to come in X-Plane market, like the Pilatus PC-6 , my favorite. But all I said above is just my opinion, I'm sure many of simmers here prefer up to date Avionics, will all those FMC, Flight Plan, Programming Routes etc .. that's just an other part of aviation, but interesting though !
-
Thanks, It's my first ACF from your team, and I think I never see a such great 3D model, very clean. I impatient to see your DC-3 .. Good luck !
-
I suceed that also ! Just change the values of elevator trim deflection ( or latency I dont't remember ) from 1.00 to 0.30 like the others controls. I answering myself ;-) I hope it could help other. For Goran and Theo, votre Duchesse est très belle ! I really Enjoy it !
-
MM I success, it was in PM> Contrôles Géométrie, the latenc was at 1.50 I put it to 0, no I have a reactive ACF and I can fly like before ^^ A last thing, with the AP, why the ACF can't be stable ? the trimes are always compensing, which resultt in a " yo yo " effect.
-
Hello, I've just bought this wonder via X-Aviation, I love it, high 3D quality etc. There is two things I dislike : there aren't prop disc ( but I put some of another ACF ) The control latency is very long. I don't know this ACF in real world but even if the surface controls are moverd hydraulicaly or electric ( servos ) I don't thing the latency would be so long. I think it's customizable via PM, but I don't know where to start.. Thanks to Help me ^^ Hetfield'
