Wow thanks for the fast reply. And I hope you know, I didn't mean any offense! Also to be clear, I'm talking about the background of the displays, not the bezels and surrounding physical material. As an example, the second image in this link, the black levels behind the engine instruments appear to be more of a gray. You can see it on the PFDs too along the bottom with the multi function buttons, as well as near the top with the radio frequencies and so on... https://flyingpauls.blogspot.com/2018/10/hotstart-socata-tbm-900-first.html And then looking at this real-life image, it's a much truer, deeper black... https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/8885340 Happy to tweak it on my own copy, just wondering if it's a bitmap, or a numerical value in some code somewhere? Thanks again for the quick reply!

Hi everyone, I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on the TBM, but for some reason, the black levels of the big center MFD bother me, it appears too light to me (is it just me? anyone else?). Is it possible to change the color values digging into the file structure? Or perhaps editing a bitmap file? Thanks for your input!

Hey everyone, I was just curious because I remember reading somewhere several months ago that with the initial release of the plane, most systems were functional, but there was still some functionality you guys were planning on adding in the future such as the second row of buttons to change the center displays with other info. I can't remember exactly, but doesn't that include doors, lights, surfaces such as flaps and spoilers and so on? I know there's a bunch of buttons and switches on the overhead that don't actually do anything yet as well as switches to the left of the pilot. What are your future plans guys? With my recent purchase of a Saitek flight yoke and throttle quadrant, flying this plane has been awesome. Super happy customer right here.

i can't help but chuckle. ;D thank for the effort though!

I think enough people have reported the same experiences that it confirms the fact that the culprit is somewhere within the 1.1 update. At this point, I suppose all we can do is wait for the team to figure out the problem and do something about it. I guess I'd be lying if I said I wasn't beginning to develop a bitter taste in my mouth considering the premium we paid for the CRJ, but I'm just trying to be patient and give them a little time.

Just tried removing the gizmo plugins. Ran for about 30 seconds then CDT. I don't know what the problem is, kinda sucks because now we can't use this plane at all. Looks like there are other people who are posting similar results with fresh installs of x-plane and the original version of the plane worked fine with my setup and installed plugins (I only have a few anyhow). Have you guys learning anything new on your end?
-
that's an interesting point. I did notice this gizmo plugin after installing 1.1 which I never noticed before. are you suggesting we remove it from the plugins folder? I'll give it a shot and post my results. that said though, I noticed yesterday on your site a section all about gizmo, what it is and why you guys use it. if the CRJ was coded with it or whatever, then wouldn't it crash the plane to delete th plugin?
-
having the same problem with ctd. i've attached the crash log. weird thing is i was able to have one normal flight yesterday with v 1.1. even after a restart and removing plugins i still have problems. also i never messed with the files from v1.0 btw. second_crash.doc

VIDEO TUTORIAL CRJ200 FULL FLIGHT FROM LESA TO LEVC (70 minutes video)
amilotti replied to Japo32's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
i just started watching this but wanted to ask, what plugin are you using for external camera views? -
On a lighter note, just curious about something. I notice the number of aircraft functions that are not yet modeled/represented in the CRJ at this time such as the different aircraft system pages for the left center screen and a bunch of switches and so on on the panels. Are there plans to include further functionality in future updates? And just to be clear, this is not any sort of expression of my displeasure with the model, just a simple question is all. Thanks!

you know, I think you're right. after further review of the manual, the tape is the IAS and I guess the MFD is the TAS...i thought that might be the case but then let me ask you this...the speed limits for the different flap settings found in the manual...is that IAS or TAS? Time for more practice landings.
-
Hey guys, Now I'm not sure if this is normal or whatever that case might be, but in case it is indeed a bug and I'm right, I thought it worth it to post here. I noticed that the airspeed reading on the tape of the PFD doesn't match up the text readout on the MFD...I've posted a screenshot for reference. I first noticed I was having a bit of a hard time with my landings when I was only going off the speed tape, but after I went off of the readout on the MFD, it was much better. Am I mistaken that the tape readout on the PFD is the TAS or no?

in that case, would there be a difference in quality, performance or otherwise between a CRJ-200 created for XP9 used in XP10 versus a CRJ strictly made for XP10?

How to go about selecting a STAR?
amilotti replied to amilotti's topic in Version 1.0 Support - Closed!
Thanks for the super fast reply sir! So in other words, the support forum isn't only to complain about bugs in the CRJ, that these questions are okay too? Sweet. So as an example, a flight plan I often use is: KEWR DCT FJC J146 MIP J78 PSB J60 DJB STAR KORD Then looking at the STARS available at KORD on airnav.com, this is what I find... http://www.airnav.com/airport/KORD That last waypoint is DJB or "DRYER", it took some digging but looks like KNOX FOUR is what I'd need, yeah? -
Hey guys, I apologize if this is in the wrong area, but I was just wondering about this since the CRJ is my first experience with a more legit FMC system. At least it's a lighter departure from the life or death questions about the CRJ! So I almost always fly between KORD and KCMH or KORD and KEWR. I've started using http://www.airnav.com/ to find the appropriate charts for where I'm flying. Anyhow, my question is how do you know which STAR to use when flying to an airport?? Thanks!

I don't mean to be a pest, but I'm still having a hard time with frame rates on the PFD and MFD even though I only run the sim and nothing else in the background. This bird seems rather speed sensitive when landing, so to not have an accurate idea of my airspeed is making it difficult to land well. As I mentioned before, the frame rate displayed in the top left of my screen shows 30-40 so I'm confused. Is there anything further I can do to help the situation or perhaps something that can be done in a future patch release? I'll say this though, I checked out some youtube videos on the CRJ and man, you guys nailed it with the displays and FMC...I mean it seems to operate EXACTLY like the real thing...I guess that's why it strains my computer so badly.

[SOLVED] No wind direction or speed indicator?
amilotti replied to philipwyatt's topic in Version 1.0 Support - Closed!
Yeah, I thought it was kinda weird that a commercial aircraft like this wouldn't have a windspeed indicator...so you guys think you'll throw that in the next update? -
I noticed the same thing. Tried renaming it and it crashed. Is there any other way we can remove the frame for the displays in OSX?
-
Ah, thanks for that guys...I'm not too keen on system requirements for gaming these days. So basically stick to the laptop monitor for good frame rates, huh? How much of a difference would 512MB of video RAM make? I'll try running without any other apps in the background...that's what I usually do but was using the web and PDF viewer for charts and so on...you got me.

First off, thanks for this airplane. It makes everything else in xplane seem like a toy kite now. A quick question...I'm able to get decent frame rates on my machine around 28fps which allows for smooth flying and control, but the PFD MFD frame rates seem to be way slower. Any insight regarding measures we can take to fix this? Also a slight tangent from my topic, but I can only get decent frame rates on my laptop alone...once I connect to a 23" cinema display in clamshell mode, it struggles big time...is it that much more work for the computer to draw the extra pixels? Here are my system specs.... i in fact uninstalled the CRJ then installed it again and that seemed to work. now my problems are that i get CTD when I try and calibrate the fms with my position.
-
i'm having the exact same problem. I also notice that none of the displays are functional and that i'm not able to manipulate other controls. I'm trying some different tests removing some plugins I have, but I'm sure others here are using the same one's I am and am able to run the CRJ no problem. If anything new develops I'll post it.
