  1. Thanks for the info, but that is actually like "turning off" the link between your webcam and ftoir, which then takes time to reconnect. If you're in a 3D-only cockpit, it's actually quicker to go into Keys & Equipment in the xplane menu and switch off headtracking briefly to get to any important switches. Or Ctrl+O to toggle 3D/2D cockpit for 2D and 3D acf. This probably explains why it's not often I use ftnoir.
  2. Midwest Medflight BK117 livery A-4 CN 7054 Midwest Medflight - EXCLUSIVE TO X-PILOT.COM Repaint for Nils Danielsson's excellent payware MBB BK-117. Simply unzip the file "CN 7054 Midwest" into your xplane/aircraft/helicopters/bk117/liveries folder. This is the livery of N8765J c/n 7054, based out of St Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Owned and operated by PHI. I am not sure if this is the current livery, or if it's been replaced by N911TL. Many thanks to Chip for the Bird logo. Use with the Radome version if you want cutters displayed as shown. Radome is disabled. New tail rotor colours and textures. File located in file library here: http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php/files/category/20-helicopters/ And the real thing...
  3. Best thing to do is try FTNOIR - it's free, and all u need is a webcam - and see how you get on with it before spending money on TrackIR. Can't do any harm to give it a go. http://facetracknoir...ome/default.htm
  4. The way that announcement's been written - in pidgin English - makes it look like the site's been hacked into and a fake announcement inserted. That's why I'm suspicious.
  5. will be "available on Christmas of 2011" Who the heck wrote English like that? Christmas 2011 is still rather vague, (is that the 24th,25th,or 26th?) and is what they've been saying all along - sometime between July and the end of the year so this isn't exactly new news.
  6. FTNOIR's good for what it is. It allows you to move your head left/right and up and down which is the basics you need to be able to fly. It's perfectly manageable. However, it's impossible to click switches using FTNOIR because it can't keep the picture still long enough, no matter how still you keep your head. So if looking down at a centre console and clicking switches, or looking up at a ceiling switch panel is your thing, then you're probably better buying TrackIR. hth
  7. A Red Arrows Hawk T1 display jet crashed last Saturday, killing its pilot. As a result all of the Hawk T1 fleet in the RAF were grounded. At the time it was made clear that investigations into the cause could "take weeks." As of Tuesday, the media were saying "it's a birdstrike" despite no investigation having even been started, let alone concluded. And now today, Thursday, it's been reported that "following preliminary investigations into the cause of the tragedy" the Hawk T1 fleet have been cleared to fly. http://www.bbc.co.uk...ngland-14666350 Am I the only one who thinks this is more than a little precocious? Preliminary investigation? If the cause were so clear – and due to a birdstrike - then there would have been no need to ground the entire fleet in the first place. I would have thought, no expected, more than a preliminary investigation to be carried out before such a decision is made.
  8. All finished and up on the BK liveries page.
  9. Fictional livery X-Pilot Blue. Here's the new X-Pilot livery to match the new site colours. File located in file library here: http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php/files/category/20-helicopters/
  10. Something to bear in mind about bittorrent, p2p etc, is that I'm noticing some ISPs - and internet access packages - are starting to ban peer-to-peer from the bandwidth allowance. Certainly here in the UK we've got the Digital Rights Economy law coming in, and that'll be bittorrent etc access knocked on the head.
  11. getting there.... Stab inners done, stab ends coloured blue. Dark windows for effect (you couldn't see through em to fly )
  12. like this?
  13. I agree, these colours don't make it easy to dazzle, but as they're the forum colours I've got to work with what there is. I've tried to keep in mind the straight lines, and lack of curves or sparkle in the page itself, yet make this as fresh as poss without losing its identity.
  14. Can probably do 2 versions - X-P & X-A, and X-P only. Latest
  15. You mean x-pilot stuff, but not the x-a bits? Cool, no problem.
  16. Some more options. Managed to make the new logos myself... Too much blue?
  17. Thanks Simon, I did notice that in the T&Cs, plus the lack of a paintkit. I wasn't impressed so didn't plan doing any paints anyway.
  18. Couldn't sleep so started playing around with ideas. First brief put-together using the new colours. Could do with some input as to what you guys want. As soon as Cam sorts out a copy of the logo we'll get a better idea, but for now just working on basics. Any thoughts?
  19. Uh, not sure about this. It's not going to replace the BK in my daily routine, but buying it seemed like a good idea at the time.
  20. Rearranging the paint on the Superyacht
  21. hahaha! My spanish is about as good as my swahili, but even I can read Javier's happy!
  22. Cool, did he let you because you maybe mentioned you do them in xplane? Just asked as I had a couple of intro flight years back and wasn't given the controls except when we were very high up only. 1st was a lady instructor - very smooth landing. 2nd was a guy who bounced it down the runway before telling me it was one of his best. I hadn't the nerve to tell him it was the worst of the two I'd had..... I still remember it as if it was recent. It was a C152, G-BLZE. Last seen, another student put it through a gate. You know, one of those wooden things between walls or hedges.
  23. @Simbabeat, buying the BK was the best $25 I spent in XP. It's easier to fly than the H500D and the sound files Conex gave it just give it an all-round realistic experience. Can't recommend it highly enough. @Namaui +1 @Warmbrak,thanks. I'm running out of enhancements to do, as it was soo good to start with. I'd really love to see Nils make some addons for it, like searchlights for a police variant, a winch for an SAR version, the armed military one, or maybe just the passenger seating version, but I know he's doing other things so it'll probably never happen. However I think overall with what's been done so far, it's about as realistic as possible now.
