  1. Thanks to you both for replying, I will leave planemaker alone and wait for the update. Chuck
  2. Using the LES DC-3 (64 bit) checklist page 3, with an RPM of around 800 my oil pressure is 85 vs 40 per checklist. With a RPM of 1600 the pressure is around 97 (Red line). Power check of 2700 RPM and the oil pressure is well over 100. I do see oil pressure of some of my other aircraft as being abnormally high. Is this a bug within the LES DC-3, or is it something that should be adjusted within planemaker? After a Google search of Oil Pressure problem in LES DC-3 I readjusted in planemaker the Systems/Limits 2 Nominal Oil Pressure to 070 the Redline to 15, Green Arc to 40 Yellow to 87 (checked) and Redline to 95. This change did not have any affect at all. Thanks for any help Chuck
  3. This series of post's should help you out: http://forums.x-pilot.com/topic/5542-dc3-update-compass-info-please/#entry57806
  4. Just to add fuel to the fire.. I am off here also with the 330 degree heading and the mag compass reading 30 degrees. First flight on the new 64 bit today and checking out the Sperry autopilot, I was all over the map!! Anyway, standing by for a update. And a bit off topic. If your trying to install the DC-3 and can't get past the "what is your email address" without an "Value required" error , just make sure your screen text is set to Smaller - 100% default. In Win7; Start, Control Panel, Appearance and Personalization, Adjust screen resolution, make text or other items larger or smaller. Then once your email address and password are set into the DC3 set up you can change it back. Us old eyes need bigger print. Chuck
  5. This from the developers blog, 13 dec 2011. May or may not answer your question. Quote from the Response: Andras Fabian says: December 13, 2011 at 5:25 pmHi edward, please check OSM (OpenStreetMap.org). If there is no polygonal river (river that is drawn as a polygon, not just out of line segments), then there is no river in the DSFs (the scenery tiles) either. Read my Interview, it covers this aspect of the OSM processing too: http://xplane10.wordpress.com/2011/12/10/developer-interview-andras-fabian-mr-x-terrain/ So, there are two possible solutions. If there is no river in OSM at all (no polygon, no line river), then the data needs to go in OSM in the first place. If there are only line rivers (but not polygon rivers), then its something we will need to implement in upcoming X-Plane/Global Scenery versions (yes, its on our wish list too ) Unquote. I think it still holds true and I stand to be corrected. Chuck
  6. Thanks Kris, Never too old to learn. Chuck
  7. Thanks for that Kris. So if we hook up yokes, throttles, rudders and install drivers (I.e. Saitek) then we have items written to registry. If we just hook up those same items cold to computer and run x-plane and configure them via X-Plane then we do not write to registry. Is that correct??? Chuck
  8. Kris, I didn't think that X-Plane uses the registery,,,,,? Chuck
  9. Ok, Will give it a go....... Thanks
  10. I got it working now Chris, just a matter of putting the in ICAO code first, works for me. I have a number of taxiways that are incorrect in quite a dramatic manner. Would it be better to inform Robin Peel about these or should one attempt to fix them themselves. WED looks pretty difficult to me and I am not sure I can handle a taxiway edit, or anything else in WED at this point. As an example: Take a look at KJMS here, http://skyvector.com/airport/JMS/Jamestown-Regional-Airport and then look at it on the X-plane map. Chuck
  11. Andyrooc, OS is Win 7 64bit. Trying WED 1.2b1 compiled may 2, 2012. X-Plane path has been set. XPX 10.20 64bit. From what I understand, I select NEW Scenery Package and Untitled 1 comes up, I click on it and attempt to rename it Jamestown. That is when the error appears. If I select Open Scenery Package then import of apt.dat goes well and I can select an airport of interest. . Just the New Scenry Package naming is the trouble. Just being such a novice at this project I suppose I could work with small airports and get a bit more familiar with it all. But, that error will still be around I suppose. Chuck Edit: I think I might see what is going on Andy. I Went to the WED Wiki and ran their example. It looks like my method of naming might be the issue. I was typing Jamestown and probalby should be typing KJMS Jamestown, as their example works. Lets chalk it up to operator error. Thanks for your reply though... Chuck
  12. Seems like I cannot get to first base with WED 1.2b1. Thought I would give WED a try, get an error when trying to enter the scenery name from New Scenery. Help appreciated, Chuck Edit: well it looks like my screen shot is not going to appear, frustration is mounting. The error is "unable to rename package: Error 183 (unknown error)
  13. Glad you got something going for it. I am not knowlegeable at all about that data. Not sure if this link will help you or not: http://forums.xplanefreeware.net/topic/10151-airac-update-the-easy-way/ Chuck
  14. I do not think the latest apt.data made it into the 10.20 release. I stand to be corrected.
  15. cchiozza, Unless I missed it somewhere, you have not told us what you have set in the throttle set up: in the XP-10 Settings Menu, Joystick & Equipment, Axis. There should be, on the left side of that box, an area that says Throttle. What does that say? Maybe a screen shot of the box if possible. If it says Throttle 1 (or 2 or 3 matter of fact) change it to Throttle. Again, is it Prop Single or twin engine, Jet your having trouble with? Also see Cessa729's post asking about your set up.......(?). Sorry if you answered these items and we missed them. Chuck
  16. Its kind of tough first starting out with XPX if your hardware is not up to par and you looking for the biggest bang for your buck/pound/yen. Took me about a year slowly adding $$ and then hardware to get my fairly high rendering settings. Well the OP has some good guidance from the above posters for NZ scenery et al. Hope he comes back to tell us how he is doing. Lots of variables to deal with.
  17. Should not the OP consider his hardware? Personally I would be suspect of using a dedicated graphics card and the Toshiba drivers that he says he cannot update. Some of the latest addon scenry can really tax a GPU. The scenery is great but it will struggle with the present graphics card I would think. Chuck
  18. Good point Kris, thanks for bringing that up. Chuck
  19. When I started out with x-plane, I stuck with the default C172 for a while. I paged through the instruction manual, but I feel most strongly that you understand your Settings and how they affect your sim. You might want to tell the group what your computer specs are, motherboard, video card, RAM. Some high settings with low spec computer will not make you happy and you might get discouraged. Some add-on Alaska scenery and airports (free stuff) are available. The forums are full of information, read till your eyes water!! Great folks here, always willing to help. Just have to ask. Chuck
  20. Was reading another post at another forum, fella had the same trouble. He had configured his throttle (a Saitek throttle) configured for Throttle 1 vs Throttle. One engine was getting all the power and the others none. What kind of throttle set-up are you using? How is it configured in the set up? Is it a problem with one engine aircraft? Jets? Twin prop? For future use; You don't have to reinstall x-plane in most cases, just delete your preferences and run x-plane again. x-plane/output/preferences. Do not delete the folder, just files. Then you will have to reset all your rendering and and joystick/control items, but better than having to do a complete reinstall. So tell us all what your set up is and maybe someone can give you some help. Chuck

  22. If your unhappy with your present PAPI lights and airport runway lights, check this out, it works great. I can see PAPI during the day and night flying lights are vastly improved at airports from altitude. Link: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=18742 Simple .txt file replacement of 4 seperate items depending on your HDR capablity. Works great and so simple even I could install it. Kudos to Chris K and group. Chuck

  24. XPUIPC 64 bit (32/64) has been released. I gave it a run with Plan-G and it works just fine. There is an important Readme.txt file within the zip that needs to be read for proper installation. Link: http://www.tosi-online.de/XPUIPC/XPUIPC.html Chuck
  25. Same thing here but only when using the seperate X-plane installation program. When invoking x-plane.exe and then getting the "update" notice all went well. I did file a false positive report with them (Avast).
