  1. Thanks everyone ! @Arti: I don't fully agree, the orthophotos scenery is greatly enhanced by X-plane 10 engine. HDR has some subtle effect with lighting, but very effective. Farther visibility "opens" the view a lot ! And you could never achieve this effect with clouds in v9. All effects together add a lot to immersion. Also, keep in mind the coastlines and elevation points are still v9 (because the scenery was made in v9). Both are better in v10. P.S: and last but not least: the water reflections are much, much better !
  2. Thanks Cameron!
  3. going down to land at Lausanne-Blécherette :
  4. Hi ! G2xpl and Osm2xpl scenery, both v9 and work fine in XP10. Robert said he is currently adapting G2xpl for v10, which will be great with much better waters and improved relief. And also v10 autogen ! And Osm2xp will use v10 features too !
  5. Now that's an oxymoron !
  6. Just got mine in Switzerland! My dvd player's working like a mad !
  7. I was looking for Snoqalmie river too, since it's in a place I did some scenery work for Fly! II years ago. When looking at the OSM data, we can see that the missing parts are the ones entered as linear objects, as opposed to real polygons which made their way into XP10. I suppose it's the problem due to OSM data consistency. Maybe it would have been workable by building polygons from the line's data ?
  8. Here is a comparison of screenshot from XP 9 and 10, both taken from the same place and exactly same time of year/day. HDR is on, with atmosphere scattering. The scenery is the same, Spain, Pyrénées with G2xpl. I find interesting how the colors appear more lively and beautiful. The atmospheric effects are subtle but very well done. IMHO, this is a big improvement, not one that you need a telescope to see, but one that affects the whole scene and therefore enhances immersion. Please, notice that mountains do cast shadows in v10, when shadows are set to max. Pretty gorgeous despite the fact they always move a bit, and might be quite heavy for the gpu. Speaking of immersion, I find very funny how Austin narrates his concept of "plausible": he explains that he sees roofs, and when he zooms in a lot, he realizes the roofs are painted on the ground and made of pixels. Now, how would a painter solve the problem of realism (or plausibility) ? He would do exactly the opposite: he would zoom out, and look at the overall effect. Then come back to the details. This is exactly what cities lack in v10: the general feeling of a city. However, at night, it works extremely well: the night lighting is nothing short of amazing. Unbelievable ! I suspect the problem with cities in daylight will easily be solved. I can't wait to experiment with some orthophotos under those buildings instead of the grass ! "Plausible world TM" and "Flat photographic world" should combine pretty well IMHO ! Pascal
  9. haha ! great
  10. Beautiful video Arty ! Honestly, I don't know how you did some shots. Scenes with the colorful ground are breathtaking ! And I must say, beautiful women in the staff there !
  11. I find it pretty funny as well. He can't really be accused of identity theft, given the name of the blog ! I would advise: work a bit more on Austin style until it is perfect. I know this is VERY HARD to imitate properly, because he's a genius after all.
  12. I'm speechless !!!
  13. Even just seeing the static image is extremely immersive ! Great work !
  14. Amazing, Tom ! The list of improvement is impressive for a free update, thanks for that ! This aircraft is always a joy to fly !
  15. Hi ! I see you have Debian installed. With two video cards, I tried this solution for Linux, and it works perfectly well ! Apparently, it even works with only one card, see second post. But I guess you'd better have multicore CPU because you still have to start two X-Plane processes. Hope this helps ! Benny, thanks for reminding me the excellent app developed at french forum ! I'll try that right away ! Pascal
  16. Same here Thanks Kamil for the tip of the dummy file ! Worked now !
  17. Thanks ! fair enough: apparently hassle free drm (hope so ). I've now bought the aircraft !
  18. Hi ! To Javier and team, congrats for the release ! I'd like to have some more details on the activation system for this plane. At X-aviation I can read "Requires activation? - Yes - Validation Upon Purchase". What is the difference with "Yes -Validation" for the Mu-2 for example ? More specifically, is the activation dependant on the system it is installed on (drm) ? Thanks ! Please note: Whatever the answer, the last thing I want is to generate another debate about drm here. Everybody please refrain from starting this again - I think everybody has clearly said his opinion about this subject before. I need this info to help me decide wether I'll buy beautiful plane, that's all. No controversy. Thanks !
  19. Thanks, but Zürich is not in Germany.
