Organizing your "Custom Scenery" folder...
sichars1968 replied to greggerm's topic in General Discussion
Same as Steve and Chris for me also, ICAO alphabetical. -
Hi hiddenace/Cameron I have filed this as a bug report with Laminar, and Ben has checked this with Tom Kyler, and it is an error after the latest beta which had an update to the default Kingair. I checked back on progress yesterday and they are working on it now. The usual excellent support from all concerned.

Thanks Cameron. Deleted the 'x-pilot.com' cookie earlier in the day and that didn't cure it, but I have just found the 'forums.x-pilot.com' cookie and deleted that and all is good now. Regards Simon

I don't know if this is anything to do with the forum upgrade, but when I sign out at the end of a session on here, when I next return to the site I am already/still signed in? Simon

Hi Goran As I normally fly hands-on without the AP, and my previous comments were regarding the continued rolling after centering the flight controls(roll inertia), I thought I would give it a go with the AP on to see if I was seeing the same as other users. I can report that I am seeing this same banking from side-to-side with it held on the heading bug. The roll is from each white mark on the artificial horizon, left and right of the centre mark. I hope this helps and you can get to the bottom of this. Regards Simon

Many thanks for the explanations Goran and Cameron. The usual excellent product support.

Hi Goran I am also a little disappointed with the flight model since the recent update. Seems you have simulated more roll inertia, so that when you centre the flight controls when banking, the aircraft continues to roll. The reaction is to apply opposite aileron and the I end up rolling back and forth until finally getting it right and flying straight again or banking at the correct rate. Also the lighting in the cockpit seems to be the same as it was before, I thought with HDR on, the dome lighting would light the whole cockpit, but you still can't see the switchs at the bottom of the panel when it's dark? Don't get me wrong Goran, excellent support as always for your brilliant products, just interested to see if this is all correct or if I am missing something. Regards Simon

I totally agree with both of you on this, especially when you consider the excellent way the third party developers for XP provide information and support post purchase, and then upgrade the product as X-plane evolves, very often at no extra cost. Keep up the good work Guys.

File Name: KYKM - Yakima Air Terminal File Submitter: sichars1968 File Submitted: 11 Nov 2012 File Category: DSF Scenery Packages X-Plane Version(s): X-Plane 10 KYKM - Yakima Air Terminal, Wa This continues my airport scenery creations in the state of Washington, USA. Yakima Air Terminal is situated in central Washington state, and as far as I know is served by Horizon Air Dash 8's on behalf of Alaska Airways to Seatac. There is an abundant GA presence and there is a museum portraying it's role in the past as a military airfield. There are still some charter flights transporting military personnel in and out to use nearby training ranges. This initial upload includes all taxiways and buildings inside the airport perimeter, and some static objects. I will eventually, when time allows, add all airport signage and more object 'clutter', and hopefully ATC routes, as well as populating the empty areas to the north of the airport(unless these happen to be improved on with the introduction of 10.20+!!) Requires OpenSceneryX and XP 10.10 beta1 or later Click here to download this file

Hi skiflyzander You draw the red box using the OpenSceneryX .pol and then use the white character .pols and draw them on top of the red box. You have do do each number and the dash between seperately. I hope this helps. Regards Simon

Thanks for that link Redfisher, that will certainly help me out.

Oh okay Kaphias, this is obviously the point I was missing(although I had started to think that this must be the way!!) I will have a go and see what I can come up with, and many thanks for taking the time and having the patience to help me out. Simon

Thanks for the help everybody. Still not making clear the part I want to know. I have textured the hangar in SU, but I know I have to put these textures on one 1024x1024(or whatever to power 2) png file. How do I get the textures I have used in SU into GIMP to make the png? Many thanks, Simon
-
Thanks Kaphias. The tutorials you speak of are by Simmo I believe, but he doesn't actually show the one little bit I'm after. He goes through actually texturing the object in lesson 1, and then swaps textures with othe png's already created and how to put these on the object in SU, I want to know how I should create the 'collage' png file from SU in the first place, so it can be exported to XP with the required one texture file. Simon

I am in the process of making some hangar objects in SketchUp and I have been trying to find out how to put the textures and colours used on the various faces of the object onto the required one texture file/collage. Do I somehow open up the 'object' SketchUp file in GIMP or the like and do it like that? I have tried the 'other' site but it is loading up extremely slowly tonight, so I was hoping somebody could help out here. I have downloaded the export file from Marginal's website so I am ready to go in that respect. Any help is much appreciated. Regards Simon

Thanks for clarifying that Chris. I wish there was an airport beacon only object, as there is for Helipads and Marine(just the yellow part with the rotating lights on top). Is there a way to just use this from the two airport beacon objects? Thanks Simon
-
I am working on an airport at the moment using WED1.2, and the airport beacon is positioned on top of the control tower. How do I adjust the height of the small airport beacon object so it appears on top of the tower, and indeed, is this posssible? The 'set MSL' box for the object is this 'Mean Sea Level'? When I have checked this and then set the height of the beacon above MSL it appears way too high above the tower. Any help with this is much appreciated. Regards Simon

File Name: KALW - Walla Walla Regional Airport File Submitter: sichars1968 File Submitted: 23 Sep 2012 File Category: DSF Scenery Packages X-Plane Version(s): X-Plane 10 Walla Walla Regional Airport Washington State This is my first US airport using the XP10 using WED and lego bricks. The only scheduled ops advertised are by Dash8 Q400 of Horizon Air on behalf of Alaska Airlines to Seattle. I have decided to start populating airports in this part of the US,(my previous couple of efforts being in the UK, but can't stand the US style autogen buildings when flying in Europe, so now flying in the US). Obviously there are a good number of files in the SE corner of the US, so that's why I am concentrating my efforts in this area. Hi Chris Foir version 1.1 you say you have added 'zebra markings' for the domestic terminal. I am currently working on a scenery in the UK with no air bridges so quite alot of these passenger 'zebra' walkways out to the aircraft. Where can I find the POL's for these, in the WED library or OSX? Regards Simon
