  1. Unknown aircraft: "I'm f...ing bored" Tower Air Traffic Control: "Last aircraft transmitting, identify yourself immediately". Unknown aircraft: "I said I was f...ing bored, not f...ing stupid."
  2. Yeah and about my temptation to think that you were sane... I had that temptation? Nope. That is truly one of the most bizarre uses of a bizarre machine xD
  3. Pretty much, although I tried BC Air a while back and that flopped.
  4. I personally believe that Google Imagery would be (and sometimes is) absolutely stunning in X-Plane, I think they should integrate (although Google X-Plane doesn't have a nice ring to it, and Google would ruin it anyways). However, when I can play the devil's advocate in a situation where someone I, and many, many others hate, is the victim of legal truths, I do. I'm sorry to people from whom I ripped this tool, but it's one of those things I think has to be sacrificed for the benefit of the world.
  5. The creator of this scenery could be taken to court by Google if I notify them of his work. G2XPL is illegal. For more information read my forum thread about G2XPL.
  6. PURPLE HAZEE gets in my eyeeesss Ahhhh hendrix. I should do some flying in X-Plane with him in the background.
  7. Please read my latest forum entry about how I shut down G2XPL using the Google Terms of Service. Any derivative works are prohibited by Google.
  8. PHNL orthophotos completed.

  9. May I comment that you, sir, have a FINE taste in humor and comedy?
  10. So I've seen quite a few people post this question around many different forums (including ones from which I have been banned): What happened to G2XPL and where can I download it? In November, I uploaded a scenery file for KFCI on request of a friend in a Facebook group. The imagery was sourced from Google Maps and I had been too ignorant to read their Terms of Use prior to saving it. Within a day, I had received an non-capitalized grammatically incorrect message from your friend, Six7. The message went something like this: i guess google has changed their terms of use, moron. delete the file or u will be banned That wasn't very impressive. One thing I cannot stand, being an "A" English and a History student, is unprofessional presentation. If he had calmly explained it without an insult and with spell check activated, perhaps I would have returned respect. No way. I just deleted the file and sent him a message similar to the one that follows, after some inquiry as to the terms of service, of course presented in a very vulgar and rude way from Mr. Six7 (whose identity I later learned but will not disclose): I am not impressed with your lack of professional conduct. I have removed the scenery on your request, however I would like to inform you that there are other scenery files and tools utilizing Google Maps data and imagery. I also sent a message to Nicolas. Six7, one of your moderators, sent a rude and insulting message to me when I had mistakenly uploaded a file that violated legal terms. I would like you to please talk to him and request that he keep up a professional personality when he is dealing with such situations. You can only guess what happened next, I was permanently banned, IP and all. I can't even reset my router to get back on. That website has ceased to be from my point of view. Anyways, I tried to think of a far play that could get me back at them. I had already used a false identification as I had been banned before for asking about Mr. Chang and his wonderful work. I would have to be careful. They were two points ahead of me and I only had one potential point to gain. Then it dawned on me that I had downloaded a scenery tool that never worked for me because of its strange architecture but it was designed for the average X-Plane user to create his own orthoscenery: G2XPL. I proceeded to hunt down a friend of mine who was in law school and they said "just basically read the terms of use. If they are in violation of the terms of use, then they can be sued. If they are providing a tool which is in violation of the terms of use, they can be sued." Wow. It's that easy. I proceeded to create a three page document outlining the terms of use of Bing Maps, Google Maps, Yahoo Maps, even MapQuest (although I pity the fool...) and created long interpretations that could not be misinterpreted. Fortunately, of all events in this situation, I saved this email that I sent to the administrators at X-Plane.org and XPFW, as they are almost all the same people. *************** To all administrators of X-Plane.org, Forums.X-Plane.org, and related sites: This is a notification of possibly illegal software available from your site. I was recently made aware of a certain "G2XPL" addon available on the X-Plane.org forums. This file is completely illegal. If no action is taken to remove it from the website I will report it for violation of copyright and terms of use of Google, subsidiaries and many other organizations. The add-on accesses, uses, and shows Google Earth/Maps imagery without visible attribution being present at all times. http://www.google.com/permissions/geoguidelines.html The add-on accesses, uses, and shows, and under certain circumstances saves Google Earth/Maps imagery without written documentation from Google, Inc. stating that they have explicit permission for use of all imagery available through the Google servers. This is a direct violation of Google Maps Terms of Use, Section 2, Part A through Part F. http://www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/help/terms_maps.html All of the above statement(s) are in direct violation of Google Maps Terms of Use, Section 3, Part C, Part E (in result of all other infringements), Part I (directly quoted; "[Any party is prohibited to] use any robot, spider, site search/retrieval application, or other device to retrieve or index any portion of the Google services or Content, or collect information about users for any unauthorized purpose", as there is no legal documentation of permission having been given to the creator of Gmaps to X-Plane.Please consider this very carefully. I expect to receive documentation of permission from Google, Inc. immediately. It may be sent to this email address. Otherwise, I will attempt to contact as many of the organizations that could be at risk in this situation and raise their awareness of the illegal activity on the website. I was banned from the forums for posting of "illegal" files. Therefore, this file should be removed with the same intention and the user who created it should be banned. I am doing my duty to the law and attempting to reduce piracy and illegal action due to my realization of my ignorant activities. Yours respectfully, Colin J. S. A copy of this email has been sent to many other X-Plane related websites. *************** The G2XPL addon was immediately pulled from the website. I cannot quote from the email I received in reply as it was lost in a clearout of my inbox, however he said something along the lines of what follows: look kid, knock it off. if you dont leave us alone well take your parents to court. we have their contact information He proceeded to provide faulty information that he obviously got from a 5 minute search on 411.ca. Here ends the story of how G2XPL ceased to be. In case you thought I was just some kid who is learning how to build scenery and loves every bit of it, yep, you're right. I also professionally pissed off Mr. Taureau, and with founded causes. Hope you now understand a bit more, now I sit here waiting for hate messages to roll into my inbox...
  11. Wow if this plane landed at a Canadian airport, everyone else would be detained and the RCMP would apologize to Mr. Unruly for his "mistreatment." No joke. Or just taze him to death, which is also a tradition in the great white north.
  12. I don't know how to implement the system but I'll do some research, great thing to remind me of! And here are some images of development (nothing new, I just made some of the DDS files with alpha 1-bit so that they took up less space, also please note that some tiles are missing from these screenshots as I'm trying to prevent the chronic crash syndrome that my computer has developed) NOTE Pictures to come later, our internet is not allowing heavy uploads at the moment (greater than 1MB)... no clue why. Stay tuned!
  13. How on earth do you delete files from the file library? I want to get rid of my crappy older sceneries (the two originals) now that I'm actually doing quality work, I don't want to be wasting space on the server. Someone know how to do this?
  14. I'm honest... this is SCARY good. like seriously good.Would you possibly be able to do a C150 paint like this?
  15. Hey Chris, what was the resolution of YSSY?
  16. Goodnight, X-Pilot (West Coast Time)! AND SO IT BEGINS. I have a lot of late nights of taxiway editing ahead of me for this sucker. I am so excited to see what I can do with this. This is actually incredibly fun!
  17. Thank you SO much (honestly) you have helped me a great deal everyone! Cheers, PNWS
  18. Well, that was solved quickly... One microscopic-sized T6 Torques later and my computer is back running. The culprit: A piece of plastic lodged in one of the fans. (might have had something to do with being dropped on the wood floor two summers ago at the lake) Sorry, no screenshots as promised, but I'm busy trying to make 74 hi-res orthos export without crashing my computer. Cheers and I'm back in action!
  19. Attention anyone reading this thread, this scenery, my action in the X-Plane community, film editing, etc, has been indefinitely halted. Today a problem began with my computer. I am still capable of running it, but I am very scared of running anything graphics intensive. If you change the angle of the computer, a dreadful "crack-a-lick-alick-acrick-crack-cruck" comes from the top left hand corner of the machine (2011 MacBook Pro 15"). This suggests that a fan has blown a blade or two and we don't need the Qantas A380 all over again in my computer. If anyone knows whether MBP cooling fans are manually replaceable without having to pay twelve billion dollars to Apple for them to have "Geniuses" (more like dorky morons who don't have a clue what they're doing) look at it and tell me to spend another eight billion on having the fan replaced, I would absolutely love to hear from you. Until then, this project is not moving forward. It's like driving a car with a blown engine block. You just don't. Or without any oil. Or coolant. Or brake fluid. Or steering... Anyways, I hope to have this problem fixed within a few weeks and be back on course. If not, then I apologize to all those whose hopes I lifted about PHNL. This is the first time that an actual situation has prevented me from crating scenery rather than laziness. I had it coming. Colin S Pacific Northwest Scenery Project Development Team
  20. If you are interested in following the development of my PHNL, which will probably be released in a couple of months, follow this thread or just come back often to see screenshots. Sorry that this is yet another thread on PHNL, I just one that is actually consistent and has a proper title. Here is the first picture for this thread. That's a LOT of orthophotos... for ONE AIRPORT. If Cameron reads this, please feel free to delete my other threads, I won't take offense to it and I just want a nice clean start for development. And that is what it will look like from space. You're computer will probably crash and/or melt. Each of those tiles is 4096x4069. There are 74 tiles. Let's do the math... 4096 x 4096 x 74 = 1,241,513,984pixels The orthophotos will have to be downloaded separately as a zip file off of my own file server due to their 1.2GB size. These puppies are big enough to run without any custom runway or taxilines (of course I will add those, I'm just saying you can). Before this project gets any further I want to thank a bunch of random people: Cameron for this community. Chris K for inspiration and also the most necessary resources making all of my projects: orthophotos! Jayden B for asking for this airport (that doesn't mean other people can ask, this was a gift) The rest of the community for help, consultation (like modern art and such)... Anyways, it's bloody late here and I have three tests tomorrow. I'll add some screenshots tomorrow in the evening.
  21. I have a slight problem in Honolulu. There is a bump on the runway and I want it to be possible for people to be able to have the "Runways Follow Terrain Contours" setting as 1 not 0, otherwise your destination airport might be messed up. Any suggestions?
  22. Sorry for three posts in a row, but how would you guys feel if 42.zip started showing up on the .org in place of some files?
  23. Wow... that was amazing. I can truly say that should become a news article in "FLYING" magazine.
  24. Wow... and you even dealt with him in a very friendly way, unlike me, sending him an essay I spent an hour on after finally getting unbanned JUST so I could get banned again.
  25. I'll actually take some time from PHNL to create a stupid scenery just for you, Chris. I need a break from schoolwork and PHNL. comedy will help a lot. Fred, here you come!
