Remlap, what you're talking about is something like Take-On Helicopters.

I love AirTrack. Works perfectly well with the FMC in the Dash 8 400, and most other planes. Wish it would work with the FMC in the CRJ200.
-
Thank you. Can't wait to get this thing textured and completely modeled!
-
The "free camera", Tom. It's in the sim by default.

Wow!! This is just awesome! I love how the engines are fit into the wing like that. Sexy. Futuristic, in a 60's kind of way.

As many of you already know, I lost four hard drives, and all scenery development, in April. I've just started again. ENOL is first. Starting from scratch. I've made some rough models today, about 15 of the different buildings. Some of them can be used multiple times, so that'll save me some time. Will start with the textures at a later time. Here's a render of what I've got for now.

A nice surprise. Thanks, Cameron.

Can't believe the rivers were done AFTER. But I'll have Ben or someone look into it.
-
Funny thing is that the small ponds and lakes are included in XP10. The rivers are there in OSM too. Just not in XP!

I've been flying through the valley where I grew up dozens of times, and every time I think to myself: "I should report this river missing asap!" but I never do. And what's the chance the river will be included in an X-Plane update along the way? It's completely lacking, where there should be bridges, it's just normal road. Until that happens, if it's going to take a while, is it possible to add the rivers on my own? If so, how? And with what tools? Hopefully WYSIWYG, like WED or similar.

Next Photoscenery Airport Project, which should it be?
OlaHaldor replied to chris k's topic in Scenery Development
Where would one find Ortho Photos? I would love for some Norwegian airports..- 18 replies

Just a thought. Well, more of an opinion. The smooth shading you have going on all sides of the objects make them look round. See the jetways, they look rounded, or almost cartoony. If you either drop or tighten that gradient shading, and fix the solid line on hard edges/corners, it would look better. Though I haven't been to KLAX, so for all I know, that's how they're supposed to look.

Just chiming in to say I have GAINED FPS. Don't know exactly how much, but there's certainly not a step backwards.
-
And what resolution if I may ask?

X-Plane 10 Tree Lines and Farms Scenery released
OlaHaldor replied to alpilotx's topic in General Discussion
I grew up on a farm, so I know exactly where I'll be flying first. Will check it when I get back from work. Working late tonight. -
X-Plane 10 Tree Lines and Farms Scenery released

Fantastic. Does the Europe pack include Norway? Looking forward to checking it out after work. -
I don't have a drop in fps.

Not so spectacular, but it's my first landing with a Columbia. Taking off from ENGM Gardermoen and flying landed just a few minutes away, on ENKJ Kjeller. I apologize, YouTube messed up with something, so there's some issues during playback.

It's a GTX560ti and the latest WHQL drivers, 301.42

I'm checking the HDR render, which they claim to be rewritten. First bug so far: extreme highlights turn black. And some times cyan. (See the red beacon on the roof)

I'm in the Carenado Bonanza 33A. My VRAM is loaded with 550mb now. Compress textures to save VRAM: Check Texture res: very high Number of trees: overgrown number of objects: extreme number of roads: tons number of cars: Kansas World detail: very high Airport detail: extrem Shadow: 3d on aircraft Water reflection: advanced 4x anti aliasing Volumetric fog 3D bump maps 30% clouds No AI planes. With these settings at 2560x1440 resolution, I'm getting a disappointing 6-13 fps. Pulling number of objects down to mega tons, didn't do anything to the performance. The performance loss is when my view is aimed at the terminals. Could it be the static planes? Something is bogging down the system. So I set number of objects back to extreme, and now dialed down the airport detail to default. This gave a 2-4 fps boost. Tried turning down the world detail, even at the lowest setting, no added performance. So I switched it all back up at the same settings I had before (and which is working very well other places, all though I don't have much scenery installed yet. Nearly no scenery for Norway yet, which is where I usually fly.) Rotating around a little to see if I could figure out where the weak spot was. Here's a few screenshots (in the zip file) for you to take a look at, Chris. UPDATE Poked around a little, and noticed an object that was insanely detailed (great job on the modeling!) but that's the main reason my system got slower. The bridge. Whenever my view was in the direction of the bridge... Now I easily have 15fps in the Bonanza, and about 20-25fps with the x737 (with Qantas livery of course ) I'm at about 15-20fps with the JRollon CRJ200 too. All tests were done taking off from 34R. I also went over and removed the parking cars. That added another couple of frames per second. Don't get me wrong Chris, you've done a GREAT job. Best scenery I've seen to date. But given the tools are there, I took the liberty to make it run a bit smoother, at least on my machine. yssyfpsissue.zip

All this Mac talk makes me wanna install XP10 on my Mac Pro at work. It's currently running Mac OS X Lion (10.7.4) Two 2.26GHz Xeon with 4 cores each, a total of 8 cores, and 16 streams (because of hyper threading) 16GB RAM GeForce GTX 570 2.5GB GeForce GT120 I really wish Laminar would implement CUDA processing. It would make the sim more fluid than anything else. Really! That's why I have that GPU installed in the first place. CUDA processing power for my work. Having the CPU crunch pixels in video for 5 hours, will take only minutes utilizing the GPU for the same task. It's insane no games (as far as I know) enable this, like they have enabled PhysX in some games. Anyway, when I get time, I'll install XP10 and compare it to my computer at home, in regards of performance vs. visual quality. The PC at home is mentioned in my signature.

Since they won't support CUDA, I wish they could support OpenCL which is GPU and OS independent.
