  1. Well, I started texturing the club houses. The one textured now is the "control tower". I know the ends don't meet so well - it's kind of difficult to make it work when the photos provided was taken with a wide angle zoom lens. But it'll do for now.
  2. More or less completed the club buildings today. Gotta create the windows for the restaurant (the one with the chimney). Except for that, me and Alex, the buddy in Spain are satisfied so far. I gotta mention what we did something really neat! I found a little application that made me able to share my desktop as a webcam source. He sits in Spain, I'm in Norway - Skype conversation with webcam - BAM! Instant feedback on what I'm doing. And a couple of hours of tweaking here and there.. Really liked working that way. Here's the screenies !
  3. Last renders of the night.. Got a meeting to attend in a few hours, need some sleep. Talking on skype with Goran and Jason doesn't help on productivity neither - too much to laugh and talk about! Anyway, here we go.
  4. My friend asked me if I could try some more. Getting started on the club house... And one of the reference photos.
  5. A friend of mine who lives in Spain went to the airfield where the club he's a member of holds a few planes. He provided me a bunch of photos so I could make models and use them for textures. I spent a couple of hours today to make this hangar, based on his photos and then used them for texturing. I will try to bake the shading into the image map itself, so it will look more or less natural. This hangar is only 248 polygons! And I'll try to make the others just as simple too. Textures will do the magic, and it will look killer. Hopefully.
  6. NICE!! I've been looking for something like this. Went over to the shop and got it now. Will take a look at it asap.
  7. Are you thinking about the different shades of grey? Interesting.. Then we gotta UV-map the tires as well..
  8. One day, I'm gonna be a very happy man. At first I thought of that day as marriage. Now I don't know..... :
  9. I'd like to create some scenery for a few airports, but I have no idea how to get it properly into X-plane. I've modeled in LightWave and tried to convert to X-Plane .OBJ using Blender. Then I guess all is left is to create an overlay etc using these fancy editors. But I have NO idea what I gotta do and how to do it. The one time I tried it, and thought I got the hang of it, I wasn't even sure if I got to the correct location. I saved, opened X-plane and to my huge shock - all scenery from this area had disappeared. All sea, no land. So obviously I've done something totally disgusting to X-Plane. I googled a while back for tutorials on this matter, but I didn't really understand much of the little I found, if any at all. Would anyone mind giving me a heads up? Or maybe even consider creating a tutorial? I'd like to know the following: - How do I import and place the 3D objects I created? - How do I make the runway? - How do I texture the runway? - How do I set radio frequencies? - How do I make it appear on the map?
  10. How's the scenery coming? Would love to see some screenshots whenever you develop this project further.
  11. That would be smart. I believe I've seen other planes (the Hurricane for instance) with a low and high poly version.
  12. I have a suggestion, if I may. Do the general form, not as deep and detailed as you have now, and rather make the depth of the seams with textures.
  13. wow, my heart just imploded - to make space for a new one, labeled HAWKER!
  14. Hope this might be interesting for some of you guys. http://www.foundation3d.com/index.php?categoryid=39&p2_articleid=100
  15. I remember I enjoyed FSPAX in MSFS9 a few years ago - I'd sure like to have something similar in X-Plane. Sounds and progress bar on how well you're doing, maybe doing some simple math about what you earn and how many hours you've logged etc.
  16. I sure wouldn't mind getting my hands on a Hawker 4000 to rig and animate, so ailerons, rudder and elevators are automatically adjusted so all I have to do is make a path for the object as a whole, and the rest is up to the scripts. I did this with an Airbus 320 once. Hard, but eventually I got it working. And then I added a null to animate the flaps as needed.
  17. Hehe, I read on the LightWave forums that the modeling and animation for that short sequence took him 6 months to do.. Good luck ;D
  18. I see some of them freeware/payware guys use 3D Max or Maya for scenery/aircraft development - LightWave + LWCAD falls to only a tenth (or so) of the price vs. the two others mentioned.
  19. I just wanna give you guys out there a tip about an incredible handy plugin. The plugin is named LWCAD and is available for purchase directly from the website. Might be a steep license fee, but boy do you get your hands on some REALLY nice tools. LWCAD is mainly tools for architecture and provides CAD-like possibilities into LightWave 3D. After reading some things about "you should not use booleans in Blender" for instance, I just had to show you how powerful this plugin is. Booleans in realtime. I don't know Blender at all, so I guess you probably got them there too. You should check out the entire manual, and the training provided on the site. After I bought LWCAD, I can't do modeling without LWCAD. The snapping tools alone are worth a nice amount of $$$ in my opinion. And then there's the smart and intuitive way of creating details like for wall details, the foot of a nice, exclusive pillar etc. The Engraver tools and the Profiler tools. I simply can't live without them, and I hope you understand, and take these tools into consideration for your future purchase of both 3D application and plugin. The greater the numbers of LW-users there are, the better can we get at helping each other with scenery/aircraft development with these given tools. If you want more examples or got specific questions on how to use it, like creating a hangar with open doors or something, please ask me, and I'll make something for you to watch and see how I'd go about doing it.
  20. It's by no means my position to judge, but seriously. You have BOTH Maya and 3D Max? Man, wish I had your wallet.. ;D Not to get my hands on another 3D application, but to spend on nice plug-ins or so. I use LightWave 3D. Couldn't be happier. Incredible pricing, nice and intuitive interface, and awesome modeling tools. But let's head back to stay on topic. I bet you get this a lot - do you have an estimated release date? Two months? I can't WAIT for this be released. I love aircraft in this size. Not too big, not too small.
  21. All of this looks killer. I'm impressed. Looking forward for this one
  22. I made a fictional livery, and I've seen some other fictional liveries as well. Haven't encountered real liveries yet.
  23. Don't put too much work into the GPS. There's an excellent GPS from Reality XP already working perfect with X-Plane. It even has the correct ICAO on some airports the X-Plane team has given the wrong ICAO!
  24. At first I weren't interested in this little piece of plane, but now that I see it textured, it's looking quite good and interesting. Keep it up
  25. I'd probably not get a "lite version". For instance, I wouldn't get a PMDG plane, as I'm not really that much into flightsims. I fly because I enjoy the view, and enjoy being in charge of the plane, and gotta bring it down safely. The MU-2 is perfect for that matter. And I guess I'll be buying the complete version of this CRJ-200. What's crucial for me, and killing any other payware or freeware aircraft today is: textures that suck - no shading, no anything. And the lack of a 3D cockpit. I can be more forgiving about the quality of the 3D cockpit than the fuselage and textures. But if I can't look freely around in a 3D cockpit, I feel claustrophobic and feel like I'm gonna choke, as I got the instruments stamped into my face. No 3D cockpit - no go from me. I sent an email to the guy behind x737 with a request of a 3D cockpit, but I only got some reply where he thought I was being disrespectful.. So I guess that's not gonna happen anytime soon.
