Merry Christmas LES and all virtual pilots
arb65912 replied to arb65912's topic in General Discussion
Thanks Hueyman. Waiting for XA Santa, everybody knows what I am waiting for. Cheers, AJ -
Good morning Gentlemen. It is Christmas and I was thinking if I should post here and not to sound corny at the same time. I decided to go for it and I hope majority will enjoy. So... All Leading Edge Simulations Team, Goran, Theo, Jim, Ben, Tom and Cameron ( In the order listed in Intro document ), SkyMaxx Pro Team as well as all virtual and real life pilots: Merry Christmas to all ! Thank you for the support and great discussions in XA forums. Here is my little "gift" , short video from Alaska flight with SkyMaxx Pro and real weather flying on VATSIM. Total immersion and pure fun.It would not be possible without your efforts. Thank you all. Enjoy! Cheers, AJ

Cruster, I have read your initial post carefully. Couple months ago I felt just like you or probably worse, I wanted to set the X-Aviation on fire and never bother with it again .... BUT I was wrong. I just made a reply that you probably read about my initial problems and I was like you, I thought that all should work right away from the start. Unfortunately, with the complexity of all XP/plug-ins interaction, the fresh XP install ( as bad as it sounds) might be the only option in certain cases. The question one needs to make and decision that follows is:" what is more important for me, pushback plugin or a great looking sky and dynamic clouds?" I will keep my fingers crossed for you and hope for some good news, really. When you get things working, I think you will say:" well, that WAS worth the time and effort". Good luck Cruster! Cheers, AJ

I do not want to repeat myself but after Kris's and Ben's responses, here are my two cents. SkyMaxx Pro did what I was waiting for a long time, no "gray screen of death" which was totally annoying and a beautiful, DYNAMIC clouds along with a nice customization. Yes, there is a room for improvement at it IS getting done as we have seen already with the "instant" update improving dramatically frame rate and fixing other little bugs. As John and other developers stated, there is a new upgrade coming with even more things improved. We are all different and I do not mind criticism, it drives the quality up and is healthy so I totally respect input from users pointing out the areas that could be improved and I like the developers response. To summarize SkyMaxx Pro , believe it or not, EVEN if there were no more improvements to be planned , I would still buy it and never regret. Thank you John and the Team for this superb product, I am very happy about it. Planes I fly are ( the recent order) LES Saab 340A, C90B and occasionally B752, yes, most of the time last week or two, it is mainly the first two. LES Saab 340A has a dark beginning for me, I was very frustrated and pi$$ed by the initial responses in forums here but I realized that the big part of the blame was on my side. I reinstalled ( fresh installation) XP, copied the scenery and I am able to fly LES Saab 340A at about 21 FPS on an average with SkyMaxx Pro set up on the higher end. Ben, you were the one who suggested the fresh install and I want to apologize again for being so stubborn to finally try it, sorry, you were right. Now , do not get me wrong, LES Saab 340A needs frame rate, memory leak and whatever was pointed out to be addressed and as Ben, Cameron, Goran and Jim ( I did not forget Theo this time, I just did not see too many of his replies here ) it is been taken care of. I am able to fly Saab at the present stage but when I get these improvements I mentioned above, I will be a very happy XP pilot for a long time. Thank you all LES Team, no regrets for all I purchased at all. Cheers, AJ Just a super short video, look at these clouds, can it be any better than that?

Cameron and John, Thank you very much Gentlemen, installed all. Now waiting for my Christmas?New year gift, LES Saab 340A and SkyMaxx Pro update. No pushing or asking when , just sharing my joy and after that I will be one happy XP pilot. John, thank you for taking time and providing all the info here. What is your website anyway? You should put it in your signature? Just an idea, not my business. Thank you guys again. Cheers, AJ

Hi John, I have a kinda stupid question but I would like to know from developer. I bought recently ( you probably noticed my posts in the other forums) SkyMaxx Pro and I am extremely happy with it. My simple question is what other Maxx products should I use to enhance the XP experience? I already have HD Mesh downloaded. Thank you, cheers, AJ

Gentlemen, I am flying in Alaska now, airplane LES Saab 340A, real weather ( on VATSIM). Could not resist to post the screenshots. If anybody says these clouds are not WAY better than XP default, I will paint my face and prepare for war. Enjoying SkyMaxx Pro very much and I know it will only get better, excellent product. Cheers, AJ

I guess I do not belong to that category. For me SkyMaxx Pro IS fantastic but I have never said that it is perfect, two different things IMO. As for improvements, it was already said that developers will make them based on user input, we just need a little patience, things do not happen overnight. Cheers, AJ

Hmm, I am lost, Ben. Now seriously, yes , it makes sense, bugs fixes , definite yes but extras , no obligation at all OR paid upgrades which personally I would not mind but many would disagree of course. I think that the virtue here is to keep a balance between the product price, bug fixing and happy customers. So far X-Aviation was doing well in that area in my opinion. Cheers, AJ

I am sorry to hear that, Stu.... we know that great things can be achieved in XP but it is so computer power hungry. Maybe more memory is the option for Christmas? Cheers, AJ

Hi Scarp, I honestly do not mean to start another argument here. I do not know what documentation was used to make LES Saab 340A 3D model and I agree with your observations as I stated in my reply. My point was just that EVEN with no changes one can be very happy having views set up properly. I totally disagree with your statement " in sum is a total immersion killer.", that is an exaggeration IMO. I understand that we are all different and have different tastes, I am happy with LES Saab 340A 3D model as it is ( yes, it would be better the way you describe) and I totally respect your point of view. Nothing is perfect of course but I am trying to be happy with what is already there and I do not regret buying LES Saab 340A. Personal preference anyway. Cheers, AJ

Hi Mat, I am sure we will see these progressive updates and enhancements, so far the SMP Team was very responsive IMO. Cheers AJ

I have tested several times and it is NOT the viewpoint issue BUT changing 3D model would be like making a new plane with the new mapping etc. so I am not surprised at all that it will be no changes in that area. Personally I would experiment with the "lateral field of view " value in Rendering Options window ( my settings are 65 deg) and the relative position of the pilot in corresponding "view/quick_look_x" set. While one can not argue with Scarp's statement's, I have found LES Saab 340 A being such a great complex design that these findings are negligible for me. Take a look at my VFR, IFR, Instruments Close and other views access in the video. After a very "bad start" with LES Saab 340A, which was a part of my reluctance ( I can admit to when I am wrong) to make a fresh XP installation which got rid of the "junk" ( unused plug-ins, scripts etc), I am now probably one of the happiest Saab users. Take a look at the video, I am able to access all areas of interest instantly by pressing the button ( two views assigned to joystick , VFR and IFR) and others to numeric pad keys. Cheers, AJ P.S. Just in case, all my views are moving slightly but this is how I like it ( Cinema Verite from View menu is on). I like the cockpit to "shake" a bit while flying.

I feel the same way Robert, not to mention that developers are still improving it. Going back to default weather would be hard now for me. Cheers, AJ

Hi Stu, Thank you for reply. I am very sorry that you experienced the problem. I know it is not very nice and I was very reluctant when Ben and Cameron pointed out that I need to do a fresh XP install. I was convinced it was not the case but after I finally followed the advice, Saab started working and SkyMaxx Pro is also working great. As PITA as it is, maybe you should give it a try? I left the old XP install as a backup and started fresh, then just copied over my scenery ( a lot). This way I got rid of many plug-ins I was not longer using. I run now 64 bit exclusively. Well, let us know and good luck, it has to be a way to fix it. Keeping my fingers crossed. Cheers, AJ

Gentlemen, Since the Saab update is around the corner, I made one more video "before" Believe it or not, I am having a ball with LES Saab 340 A, can not wait for update so I can take more videos with the outside views. Some of the external views are achieved by "cheating", moving from the inside of the 3D cockpit using arrows, not keys for preselected views. I am afraid that this plane will become my favorite one, it is a bit old but still in service ... just like me. Cheers, AJ
-
Thank you Frank. Kinda expected that. Cheers, AJ.
-
Hi Frank, Does it have to be 3D Studio Max or Blender would also do the trick? Fantastic software anyway, it is a real step up in XP simulation, I am enjoying it very much. Thank you. Cheers, AJ

Ben and Stu, I am curious about how is that possible to have SASL installed in plugins folder. When one installs the plane that uses SASL, it gets unzipped and placed in Aircraft directory and SASL should be inside of the airplane folder, right? Cheers, AJ
-
YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know this is not a promise but I AM EXCITED like a boy, I mean it. Cheers, AJ

Gentlemen, I was trying to see if I can reach FL310 as per manual and I was short few hundred feet but the reason for this post is that I wanted to share the beautiful combo of LES Saab 340A and SkyMaxx Pro while flying. I still had problems when I wanted to record video using external view but maybe that will be improved in new release of Saab. Other than that I love the como and I am becoming Saab "addict" Sky looks SO much better than before SMP and the aircraft itself is amazing, now digging into the documentation to learn more. Enjoy the video, try full screen and HD on Youtube, you will love what you see. Cheers, AJ

Thank you Jim, I did not know there were two , now I will try the joke autopilot disconnect command and all should be great. Thank you for your time. Cheers, AJ
-
Sorry but one more question. What command do I use to assign autopilot connect/disconnect on the yoke to my real yoke? Thank you, cheers, AJ
-
THAT simple Jim? Thank you. Will try tonight. Cheers, AJ P.S. Enjoying Saab more and more, really. Actually, starting reading the documentation more seriously. Outstanding job , the whole LES Team.
