Nothing against software protection - but it should be clever and work on all supported operating systems. As Cameron told me several times the software protection is based on the mac number. This number changes if you install a new drive, new networkcard or a new OS etc. WIN7 changes mac numbers for security and is using multiple mac numbers. here it comes to a real conflict with the not software protection of the MU2. If the mac number changes your activation is gone and you have to ask for a new key - but then the mac number changes again and so on. I do not know why x-aviation do not use a clever protection like an usb dongle for all their licenses. All this discussed trouble are gone then. As a sounddesigner for cinema I am using a lot of protected software and the licenses are on two usb dongels - so I can carry around my "studio equipment" whereever I need it and do not have to ask new licenses nad to hear that it is my fault cuase my computer is changing mac adresses. Of course I found in an evening research a possibillity to stopp WIN7 from changing mac adresses - as I am not a computer specialist, I do not know exactly that I did the right thing when I followed the description to stop this mac changing. We will see - but nobody will giver me back the hours of struggling to use my payed software MU2. I really hope x-aviation will make something more intelligent and more userfriendly instead of an systems which do not support some modern OS. Tom

Are there other IP adresses for cennecting to metar servers - I have very oftne problems to log onto the server with the default adress. Tom

You are right Japo, do not release something without finishing the logic and the behaviour of a plane. In the moment you find several jet payware with 3D pit and quite nice fuselage - but the logic and the performance is far away from the real thing - I got real angry answers if I startet this topic on the specific sites - from my pov this is no simulation this is gaming or as you said "furniture with wings" So please take your time to bring your plane to a new dimension of xplane payware. Hi Timest, do you think it would possible that you make a patch that REX stays in the backround when laoding next weather data during flight - it is quite annoying if the REX screen occurs while operting the plane in a critical flight phase. Cheers Tom

Hello Timest, very often but not always I get the following message but my internection is stable and fast, I do not know why I get this message and of course then the weather download does not work I am using the REX SP1 on WIN7 / 64Bit / please help to get rid of this problem...it is very annoying Thnx Tom No Help!!?? - this is bad - is there anybody out for the support of this product?? I discovered to things which shozld be changed. 1st - REX does not load the new metar in the bsckground - everytime when loading it popups in fornt of xplane - it better should stay in the background - not blocking the view - you never know... 2nd - after shutting down REX it stays active! I have to shut it with "process ending" in task manager (WIN7 64BIT) cheers Tom

hello cameron, ok this is it like it works - but it will not update if the flight goes for several hours - it is using the file I downloaded at the beginning. right? and the weather will be the weather of some hours before...? sorry but this confuses me a bit - then why not using xplanes weather download? is REX more accurate and why REX cannot take then xplanes job of continues update? I understand that it can only work with the theme what I choosed at the beginning. but during 2 or 3 hours the weather can change dramatically sometimes even quicker...? But it looks very nice and it is worth to buy it is a quite new view and with a highres photoscenrie and a big beamer screen it looks quite impressive. nice addon. But how can it update the weather automatically - there is no otption to set - you can choose your airfield (if xplane is not running) rex will sent the best textures for these weather - you disengage download weahther in xplane. if you start xplane now you will have the weather for you choosen airfield - and then - I think if you disable download metar in xplane it will not change! cause rex does not update the weather during flight - I see it like this - maybe I am wrong - but if I fly I do not see any updating during flight unless I enable download and scan metar. maybe the supporter will help us soon with this question cheers tom

hi out there, yes this looks like a very nice addon. I have some questions of which I do not find any answer in the manual: 1) when updating to a new clouds and sky clours theme - what happens to the textures of the previous installed theme - will they moved back, will they get exchanged with the new one, do the stay in xplane, are they lost - do I have to restore the initial BU before installing a new theme - or do I have just to install a new theme and not to worry about anything? 2) xplane is able to download and scan wheather every minute - if I am using REX and disable the dwonload of metar data in xplane - will REX update the weather automatically on my way to new locations during the flight that I get the weather of where I am actually am - or is the server only for choosing a location and downloading the metar of this location - with no update during fligh. simply said - what do I have to do to use REX (with a special theme) that the weahther will be updated automatically? 3) will REX work on the vastsim network? here the weather will be updated through the vatsim network connection. thnx for answering my initial questions - and sorry for my complicate english tom

1. When does the FPS drop usually occur? Upon load of aircraft, midway through a flight, or random? just again - in flight - to 19 and fog warning of xplane 2. What happens when you go to a different view? Do your FPS improve? in chase view it was a bit better but not significant - still foggy 3. Does this always occur in the same view? If so, which one (Cockpit, exterior, 3D)? everytime in 3D view / never use 2D view in this plane 4. Did you try the procedure in bold above this questionnaire? Did your FPS improve after? yes - no change 5. What operating system are you on? Win7 / 64Bit 6. What video card do you have? Nvidia GTX285 7. If on Windows, what video card driver version are you using (n/a if on Mac)? Driver gefrorce 197.45WHQL 8. I can recognize and appreciate that it is not only you, Tom. I can also recognize that it's not the majority, and it's not every time the aircraft is loaded on every machine out there. I say I'm sorry, because I am. These kinds of things are frustrating, even more so when I or other developers including Laminar can't duplicate the issue you speak of. It loads in 9.5, does it not? It flies in 9.5, does it not? The aircraft is compatible just as is "claimed." No one is being deceiving here. FPS and compatibility are two different things. And again, I'm still unable to reproduce this. So I must ask, if I can't reproduce the same problem on multiple machines, is it really a problem with these two addons alone, or something on the various machines (like drivers)? So, Is it driver specific, or is it not? I can't place blame on anything at the moment. Yes, I will be interested. All the above said, I'm NOT saying I don't care. What I'm telling you is that without something I or any other developer can reproduce, it's going to be very hard to give an answer for this. It's time to get off of defensive mode, Tom. I made a testflight of 20min with the new and latest whql nvidia driver for the gtx285. I had an short issue that the fps went down from 30 to 19 inflight but before I could start the tests it went back to 30 where it stayed for the rest of this short flight. all this in the 3D cockpit view. Hi, Tom, And while this may only happen with the two products for you, it doesn't happen to me, or any other developer associated to the project. I have already talked to Laminar about this, and with their busy schedule were willing to take a look. They too are unable to reproduce this and have said they feel it may be some form of a video driver issue. There are just too many possibilities. I'm sorry, Tom, but until any of us are going to be able to reproduce this, then it's going to be truly hard to say where or who the problem lies with and why. There's not much we can do right at this moment. hi cameron, it is not me alone - I did not open this threat. If you want to know more then ask me maybe we can find out why this happens to me and some other people. but only to say sorry this is not enough for somebody who wants to sell the best payware for xplane and who claims that his software is full compatible to xplane 9.5whatever. I have a pretty fast machine and this issue has nothing to do with the xplane prefs and it happens only with YOUR C400 and the ufmc (as I told I konw a solution for the ufmc). as I made the Fokker F100 WS which you find on the .org I know that some fonts are creating big problems and the biggest problems if they are antialised. jim used a lot of fonts in his panel I am sure there you can increase framerate but maybe not solve this problem. it is very weird I am on 30fps and all of the sudden it goes to 19 or less and sometimes after a while it comes back to 30+ sometimes not and the xplane fog is coming. today I will try the new whql driver from nvidia. if you are interested I will let you know if it is going to be better or not. but I am sure there is an issue with the C400! thnx and cheers tom

But as it occurs for me only with the UFMC and your C400 - it must be something between the C400 and xplane. And I ask you kindly to try to solve this problem maybe with the help of Xplane developers. I as the paying cutomer have no chance to solve this. Tom

Yes Maxime is right - sometimes xplane provide very bad framerates with the C400. Not all the time it is changing but I do not find a reason for this. today I landed on EDDH 05 with around 19fps and the xplane provided fog (which means the fps are below 19). I went back to the beginning of the 05 and load the C400 again on the same RW with the same weather and the framerate was 30fps all of the sudden it went to 19 and back to 30 where it stays now. I know this kind of behaviour from the ufmc plugin - sometimes there is a opengl failure and the framerate goes down - you can survive wtih opening another opengl application and close it again most of the time the framerate in xplane goes back to a normal value. here in the C400 it smells like a similar opengl problem. WIN7 64Bit, I7, 8GB RAM, GTX285 latest whql driver cheers tom

hi jim, - this could be a good start - it makes the programmnig much easier then looking down all the time yes opengl - xplane needs good programmers for opengl - sometimes things are very badly programmed that the hardware excalaration is not used more then 30 - 40% sometimes less. In the end the best card will not help... tom
