TBM850
Hello I just spent the weekend enjoying the CRJ 200. The exterior textures including the lighting effects inside and out are just top noch! The only thing for me that is irritating with the CRJ 200 has to do when setting destiantion altitude for presurisation or for that matter increasing or decreasing values (altitude, airspeed etc) which is accomplished by left clicking and moving the mouse up/down or left/right. Is this and X-plane limitation or can you fix this to be able to increase a value by right clicking and decreasing a value by left clicking the mouse like PMDG products in FSX. This is more precise and more pleasant! Thanks!
Japo32
Are you coming from Microsoft Flight simulator? Because this a normal way changing values with mouse. If the plane would have designed 2d cockpit then I could do what you say, bur when you move the viewpoint with trackir you have too much noise movement, so clicking each time to increase or decrease can be more frustrating than the way you feel right now. It was that way in first 3d cockpits. Then xplane introduced drag manipulation. That way even with noise movement you only have to "target" only once the rotary, that way even if your camera moves too much you have the control of the rotary so only you have to move the mose in one axis to change the value.Of course this with a 2d cockpit could be fly the way you say, but because a design decision I concentrated only in 3d. For me enough good planes with 2d cockpits are outside, so I needed to concentrate in my choose to make all the best I could.Right now the plane cannot have 2d option BUT, you can use pilot view plugin. I have set camera position as 2d panels and I think you will have more control and precision. The closer you are more you have to move the mouse, so more precise you will be.Cheers,
mutestyles
Glad you chose to manipulate knobs. Last i check in real life you dont click a round knob you turn it
Dispatch
Hi there,is it just me, or is selecting any numbers by mouse drag quiet hard to do. Not talking about the huge radius I need to drag it. It is more about the precision of this method which is not too good. Compression for sample. I today went into Zurich which has an ELV of 1416 ft. I was totally unable to select that elevation on the cabin pressure panel. Nearest I got was 1420 as the numbers will jump back to 1400 all the time. Also, selecting NAV sources is quiet hard. Ok, it's not the end of the world, but sometime pretty annoying I must say.Did you plan some handling improvements for any update? One more issue I have got is, that the AP panel is nearly not readable when it's dark in the cockpit. When you turn the background lights on (those labels background lights), I cannot read them any good. Is it I'm using Mac OS with it's text fonts? Thanks & Cheers
Japo32
You can see a near reply to another user today. Some hates that way of manipulating other loves it....http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php?topic=2241.msg21564#newIt is a different way of making cockpits, and I know there will be people like you that don't like. I would say that try to fit the way it is done and you will love it.

woweezowee
Nearest I got was 1420 as the numbers will jump back to 1400 all the time. That's intentional, it's in the manual.I also like xplanes method of "manipulators". Better feeling. But I have to say that I use Apples Trackpad instead of a mouse. Feels much more like really "touching" the stuff in the cockpit. rbiten
After practicing a little bit I definetly love to use the knobs in the way you designed! It was hard on the beginning, but right now it is absolutly amazing!
Japo32
I know it is hard change from those that comes from 2D panels.. but with trackir.. or just with pilot view plugin... I love it.. and that is the reason I started making 3D cockpits.I think is like playing an instrument. First times is difficult but when you know how to play is amazing. I tell you.. try it!about precision. Believe me this plane has the enough precision to tune instruments. If one doesn't have it.. is becuase is not so important. But the precision is different depending how far you are from the instrument.. and the point of view from it. Nothing to do. It is X-Plane technology. You like it or you hate it. In my case I love it!! (but not the returning camera when rotating far a drag manipulator). I know about the square drawing that don't move the camera.. but I don't like that also... any plugin for that?
woweezowee
but not the returning camera when rotating far a drag manipulatorthat's right, really not good. no, I did not see a plugin that disables this behaviour yet.
