dreamboxlouisville Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 Hi All, First I love Skymaxx Pro. I fly Xplane on a 27i iMac with the GTX775. As most programs for my airline are windows based I have partitioned my Drive to install a Windows partion. I have noticed though when I set my skymaxx settings it shows a negative amount of VRAM that it's using. When I fly on the MAC side it registers my full VRAM capability. Does anyone know if I something is set wrong or something special I have to do with this setup. I feel like it's not using my VRAM to the most of its capabilities and therefore hurting my performance. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. I've also attached a copy of my xplane log which shows the negative impact towards the bottom. Log.txt Quote
sundog Posted March 8, 2016 Report Posted March 8, 2016 The memory usage we report comes straight from your video driver. I would guess the negative value is its way of telling us that it's actually swapping into your system memory out of necessity, which is very slow. This isn't surprising; you've got a third-party aircraft, it looks like you've cranked up Skymaxx Pro's cloud draw distance all the way, and you've got a bunch of custom scenery too - all on a video card that I believe only has 1 GB of on-board memory. I think the easiest thing to do would be to hit the "reset" button on SkyMaxx Pro's configuration screen. Turning up the cloud draw distance can have a big impact on VRAM usage and performance, and I don't think your system is powerful enough to handle much beyond our default settings. Quote
dreamboxlouisville Posted March 8, 2016 Author Report Posted March 8, 2016 Thanks I will def try that. I should have included my system specs as well. I currently use an iMac 27" with the 3.5 i5 Processor with 8Gb of onboard RAM and the Nvidia GTX775 with 2Gb Dedicated memory. Here is a screenshot of my settings for Skymaxx Quote
sundog Posted March 8, 2016 Report Posted March 8, 2016 You might also consider turning off cloud reflections if you can live without them - that can help performance by a surprising amount. Quote
